I've had the large Kitchen Safe for 7 years, and love it. I actually bought the smaller one later - the large one is for biscuits or cakes, and the smaller one for nuts, crisps and similar. My problem: I can have a sealed packet of biscuits in the cupboard and not be bothered. But once I open them, I will go through the whole packet. I first got around it by not buying biscuits, chocolate and snacks, but that is miserable, especially when friends visit. The really interesting revelation was when I discovered that I didn't have to set it to 5 or 12 hours, or a day, for it to be effective. If I just set it to one or two hours, when it unlocked, I could know that biscuits were there, but they wouldn't bother me. I realised that it was the first biscuit I ate that caused me to want the second, and so on, bingeing through the pack. If I took one, locked the safe, and then ate it, I could enjoy that biscuit, and by the time the safe opened again, the urge to binge had gone. I then found I could use this practically - having a cuppa and a biscuit/cake break, then *immediately* going out into the garden to do a job or something similar. By the time I came in, I no longer wanted another biscuit. A wonderful gadget for anyone with this problem.
There's definitely something about how accessible a food is that makes it so much easier to binge eat. I like to have some ice cream for dessert. Come evening I'll grab a bowl, scoop some out and put the ice cream back in the fridge, and that's enough for me. But a few weeks ago I bought a box of ice cream sandwiches because they were on sale and suddenly it was mid-day and I'd find myself grabbing one to snack on in addition to my evening dessert. Suffice to say, the box didn't last long. There's just something about an open package of snacks that makes it so easy to grab some whenever you feel like it. I can absolutely see this sort of lock box gadget helping people deal with that snacking urge.
@@martynamaczyszynIt's really the only way to eat it, isn't it? I know such cutters specially for this cheese since my childhood. And I'm from germany. And it is soooo delicious!

God, I absolutely winced when they started chopping on that last gadget; I absolutely HATE that noise and I can absolutely see why Kush got rid of all of the glass chopping boards.
I knew what that first one was right away, I recognized it because I saw it a few months ago! I was at the local deli in my little town on the west coast of Canada, where I like to get their recommendations of what cheeses to try. They were trying to describe this gadget, when another customer heard them, got very excited, ran out to his car where he for some reason had this cheese and this gadget (I guess he carries it around with him wherever he goes?) and he brought it in and made some cheese curls for us all to try right there! It was such a random experience, seeing it again here made me smile.
If you want to give the Girolle a special twist: They sell chocolate wheels specifically for this purpose so you have fresh chocolate shaving at the table if you want to be fancy during dessert 🍫

The Kitchen Safe could be a good aid in giving an older child some independence in a task like taking medicine daily. It would allow for it to be kept in a more accessible location, but still be (reasonably) safe outside of a specific period. When they first showed it I thought it was a silly product, but as a tool beyond the kitchen, it actually has some useful applications.
I think for that purpose you could create a much better product: a series of small compartments for each dose of medication; an independent timer on each compartment that you can set to a specific time (i.e. 6pm, rather than 10 hours from now); some sort of alarm or notification, maybe paired with a smartphone or tablet.

You guys should review the Scrub Mommy from Scrub Daddy. I know it just seems like a gimmicky sponge, but I've been thoroughly impressed with both how much better it cleans AND how much longer it lasts than a normal dual sided sponge. It also seems to scratch less than a normal scouring pad.
Whereas I hate all products from Scrub Daddy. I don't know what they make their sponges out of, but they feel sharp on the hand and they literally tear my psoriasis apart.
@@HaralHeisto That's very interesting. I can see why you would find the scouring side to feel sharp (at least when dry), but it surprisingly feels like it scratches dishes less to me. Then again, the Scrub Mommy sponge is the only one I've used, and not any of their other products.
As a swiss ive got a girolle at home. We use it mostly for brunch next ti a chese bord. Very cool to see you guys try têre de moine :). Try to shave the chese a bit more so that it rolls itself up.

I used to work in close proximity to an archaeology research group with expensive taste, and they had a cheese curler. Good stuff! They would also bring in artisan chocolate and Turkish delight, to everyone's delight. 😅😋
A better way of solving the scale problem is to have a scale where the display is on an arm or cord that can be pulled out and placed where it remains visible. Or, like hook it up to an app, but I'd prefer a more analog solution.
In southern germany (and switzerland, i guess) you can buy that monks-head-cheese in every supermarket and a lot of people have that shaving-tool at home, but you can also buy the cheese pre-cut at a lot of supermarkets
I would love the hand glove scrubber thing hahah. I have alot of sensory issues so i hate touchng the dirty dishes and such. This would be a life saver for me even if it takes longer
I laughed outloud at these chopping scales. That clinking - omg, thank you, Kush. I recently bought a glass chopping board (a set of three was the cheapest), but it's not for cooking, it's for some crafts where at times I need and acrylic glass board because my glue doesn't stick to it, and other times glass board for a precise sliding cut.
Test the bay leaf theory , bc I've personally tested it and there's a huge difference between using bay leaves and not. It's def not the main flavor, but you really notice when it's not there.
Kid: Can I have a cookie? Parent: In 30 minutes. 30 minutes later: pops open and kid empties it out. That's what I would have done. Very dumb invention.
Though to stop mindless snacking on high-sugar treats, it’s enough for that. Just makes the process of an adult grabbing “just one more” snack inconvenient enough that they won’t automatically do it. So a weight control measure for 80% of the population.
@@Tang-qi6zw Someone who can't control themselves when it comes to snacking on crap will not be deterred by this invention, nor will children who don't know any better. People must learn self control, not buy useless gadgets. Don't buy the cookies to put in it, problem solved and money not spent.
@@d.d.mac.3773IF that alone worked, 80% of the country wouldn't be obese. Willpower is so temporary. Instead, harvest it for inconvenience. Because inconvenience is the only way to change habits. Notice how sometimes you drive the usual route, which is the wrong way because you were going somewhere else? If you don't track your food, how much can you remember what you eat? You don't even look at your hands or keyboard when typing. Most of what people do is automatic. Based entirely on patterns and convenience. So even if you buy the stupid cookies out of habit, the case CAN help change the habit because you can adjust when actively thinking.
@@Tang-qi6zw Well, it seems timed cookie dispensers are obviously not working either, are they? Either obese people don't have the willpower to use them or even buy them. You can also get into the habit of eating certain amounts and at certain times, but I don't see them doing that either. A cookie dispenser will not solve the obesity problem. They are a waste of money. Don't buy your kid or yourself cookies, and then you don't have to track how many you've eaten, problem solved .
It's so funny to me that the girolle is in a gadgets video. as a swiss person, growing up it was just normal to have a girolle in the house. Like having a wine opener, a peeler or a garlic press. I also had to smile when Baz said "cause it's sold in the posh shops" - you can get it in every supermarket/groccery store here
Tete de Moine is a fairly normal cheese to eat here in Switzerland :) You can buy the florets packaged or some people have the tool you got at home and buy the whole cheese to do it themselves (I have one too, so it's not that unique if you're a cheese lover :)). Also that cheese is not that expensive here in Switzerland ;) the florets packaged up are fairly expensive in comparison but it's just more convenient for most people than having this giant thing in your fridge unless it's like for a brunch or something :)
Just watched your cheeky little guest spot on Max Fosh's most recent video and may I say WELL DONE KUSH AND BEN. What a wholesome and fun little experiment that must have been ❤

Hats off to growth and effort to ensure you are working to include as many people as possible. ❤

@@hannahk1306I think there already is a device like this. I've gotten YT ads
been watching sorted for a long time and honestly I love the zany energy Kush has brought to you guys, he is a pro chef with big normal energy and I love him for that
We've always had one of those cheese curlers at home growing up! Tête de moine is my absolute favourite cheese ever 😍😍 but they do also sell pre-curled packages to the cheese in the supermarket in case you don't own a curler!
Does the curler come with a lid though? Or do you take the cheese off every time? Or do you put the whole thing in the fridge?😅
@@glockenrein I'm sure there are some that come with lids! But we usually but some cling film over the cheese and put the whole thing in the fringe or on the window sill in winter. Taking the cheese off every time is too much effort 😅
@@melaniehochuli4728 okay that makes sense, thank you! 😄 Might have to buy some pre packages one try.
I am absolutely in love with Kush! No reason, just his vibe is amazing
Kush is such a great addition. Has all the knowledge you could want but he’s got that dry humour
I love that Kush brings the pessimism that is absolutely needed
Kush is just so much crazy fun, love the crazy madman! Good to see more of him.
As a swiss ive got a girolle at home. We use it mostly for brunch next ti a chese bord. Very cool to see you guys try têre de moine :). Try to shave the chese a bit more so that it rolls itself up.
I'm giving you ALL the likes! What a new dynamic duo 🎉
My husband has the K-Safe! He uses it for his phone (and also computer mouse occasionally). Has been somewhat life changing for him. Probably should use it myself, too tbh😂
hahaha the look on Kush's face when that sponge flip landed in a bowl was priceless hahahaha
You can hear Mike cracking up as he reads about the Duramitt 😆
I used to work in close proximity to an archaeology research group with expensive taste, and they had a cheese curler. Good stuff! They would also bring in artisan chocolate and Turkish delight, to everyone's delight. 😅😋
A better way of solving the scale problem is to have a scale where the display is on an arm or cord that can be pulled out and placed where it remains visible. Or, like hook it up to an app, but I'd prefer a more analog solution.
OXO has a scale with a pull-out display for exactly that purpose. It works well.
“Everything’s a competition”. 😂🤣😂🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Great quote from Kush.
Gadget 3 the timed cookie jar would also work well for a sort a marinate timed tub for meats 🤔 possibly a more practical use
In southern germany (and switzerland, i guess) you can buy that monks-head-cheese in every supermarket and a lot of people have that shaving-tool at home, but you can also buy the cheese pre-cut at a lot of supermarkets
Great seeing Kush on camera, brings a fun but chaotic energy on screen! 😂
I would love the hand glove scrubber thing hahah. I have alot of sensory issues so i hate touchng the dirty dishes and such. This would be a life saver for me even if it takes longer
Love Kush’s energy. He’s such a great addition to the onscreen team. 😊
You can also use it for chocolate shavings. Great video once again lads thank you
So proud of you guys! You’ve tried the cheese from my hometown! Tête-de-moine! So proud!
Test the bay leaf theory , bc I've personally tested it and there's a huge difference between using bay leaves and not. It's def not the main flavor, but you really notice when it's not there.
Just in case you didn't see it they did test it and made a video and agree it does make a difference.
It's nice to see Chef Kush more on camera, he is incredibly talented chef and delight to watch!
I love seeing Kush in these videos. Hopefully we can see him a bit more often!
When the Ebbers away, the Normals and Food Team will play 😂
3:41 I literally just choked on my drink laughing at that photo. High 5 to whomever photoshopped that masterpiece 😂
Photoshop?
Jaibbers Ebbford can't hurt you, Jaibbers Ebbford isn't real...
Kush and Baz are so funny together!!!
Kush is such a good dynamic in the boys. Have loved seeing him in more and more!
In the spirit of the late great Bob Barker, I'm loving the $25.01 from Baz!
I also had to smile when Baz said "cause it's sold in the posh shops" - you can get it in every supermarket/groccery store here
Either someone on the team is great with Photoshop or Ben grew a beard without any of us noticing. 👀
Yay!!! More Kush!! I hope he’s having fun!!!
I really like Kush! I think he's a nice addition to the team. And I like his chemistry with the guys. :D
That cheese scrape thing being sold in posh shops? In the Netherlands you can buy it at almost any (Albert Heijn) Supermarket.
Absolutely love the new duo!
As a cheese lover, I'm always happy to see Mike eat some cheese and genuinely enjoy it :D
Just watched your cheeky little guest spot on Max Fosh's most recent video and may I say WELL DONE KUSH AND BEN. What a wholesome and fun little experiment that must have been ❤
I love seeing the progression of consciousness across these videos. They got criticised once for not considering people with additional needs when doing gadget reviews. Next video they disclaimer, next they comment on the type of people it could help. This video, they are seeing what people with additional needs (Alzheimer here) actually say about the product.
Hats off to growth and effort to ensure you are working to include as many people as possible. ❤
The cheese curler is also regularly found at Dutch secondhand stores for cheap since it was in a lot of company Christmas gift boxes a couple of years ago 😂
The glove would be useful for cleaning walls, surfaces, and appliances in an industrial/professional kitchen. Especially for people with arthritis and carpal tunnel.
I really appreciate the frankness and openness of your reviews, particularly with well known brands that have missed the mark.
We definitely need Kush in more review videos, imagine Kush and Ben together, and even James when he's back!
This episode was the Gadget Discourse we were waiting for. MORE BARRY-CHEF KUSH CHAOS PLZ
Wonderful.! I'm with Kush, "everything IS a competition"!
Best duo ever !!!!!! I want more !!!!!!
