Is the PSA Dagger Mini C-1 even worth buying?

  • It’s hard to break the Glock habit once you’ve fallen into them. They’re reliable, they’re consistent and they’re readily available through every distributor and dealer. Plus the aftermarket is enormous. But the prices have escalated substantially over the years, to the point where I’ve begun to wonder if they’re even outpacing inflation. But then along comes Palmetto State Armory with their dagger series of pistols. Seemingly “yet another” in a long line of Glock clones that cropped up in recent years.
But this one is different. The Dagger is more ergonomic. And SO MUCH CHEAPER IN PRICE. And dare I say… reliable? Yeah, they seem to be, overall. They’ve been plagued with fewer bugs than most brand new guns on the market and they’ve built a little fan base already. The Dagger Micro takes on the role of the G43X giving a slimline overall size with a sizable grip length for 15 rounds and a teenie slice/barrel up top to make it a super easy pistol to carry.
But then there’s this departure from that formula. A much longer slide with a “compensated” slide. So now you’re back up to the overall length of a g19 but way slimmer, so you can throw it in the waistband more easily. So: is the Sig-a-like conked slide actually effective? Well, temper your expectations, Chico… yo have to realize that it is meant to reduce muzzle flip NOT recoil. And it does so only to a small degree. It’s not a miracle working modification but it’s also not ineffective either. It works, but it won’t turn a sissy-handed liberal into Jerry Miculek.

Preach it brother. I’m tired of hearing people talk crap about comps that have no idea what it is doing. Great video thank you. I have all of the daggers and enjoy them in my collection.

I went with the shorter, non-comped base model Micro. My thought was that the comp cuts in the slide would be dirtier and potentially allow foreign objects to enter the gun in a field setting. I could be wrong, but that was my reasoning. Also, since I've been shooting tiny micros for the past 12 years or so without issue, I didn't see a need to have a comp on a carry gun. I considered picking up a G19 MOS (for better capacity) or a G43X MOS (for its size), but the PSA pretty much negated both of those in terms of size, capacity and price. It was the perfect combination of features that I was looking for and still offered the simple mechanical Glock design, that allows for single-tool disassembly, easy maintenance and a huge aftermarket. I got the pistol, a few mags, a red dot, holster and a couple boxes of ammo for the price of a Glock. It's my primary EDC.

It's a P365 xmacro comp. Eh, I'd rather have the full barrel length. Velocity is more important. This isn't a competition gun and that to me is the only use for porting. I don't think shaving 2/10's of a second off your spit times helps in a defensive shooting.

Can’t really argue with you there. I can’t think of any data that shows split times in a defensive shooting was a major factor. It must play into some at some point, but who knows. For me, I like having a ported carry gun because I want my shots to be as accurate as they can be under any circumstances. So if I do make the decision to followup quickly, I’d like to have that additional aid helping me do that to the best of my ability at the time.
But is it making a life or death difference from a stock gun? Almost surely not. And that’s why I felt it was important to discuss the fact that ports do not replace skill. Training and practice will yield far better results in speed & accuracy than modifying the gun.

@@AtoZEDCreviews I'm not good enough for it to make a difference, lol. It would be like me handing you a $600 driver and if you never played golf, it would not change your score 1 stroke. :) I appreciate the video anyway. It is always good to learn a new perspective.

I think about it the same. Smaller guns are already compromising ballistics with the shorter barrel, so I’d rather take full advantage of what’s there than having it “recoil less” (come on, it’s 9mm, you’ll be ok)
