I think they are a custom creation.)_ Are responsible for mind controlling this faction of rebels for whatever end. The astartes, because of their enhanced genetics and mental conditioning are practically immune to their influence. The Psyker is connected to one _(The one in the hanging cage covered in melta charges)_ and he overhears the two orbs conversing within the immaterium _(Hell is real, and its filled with worse than deamons)_ and issues the warning to the captain/veteran _(cloak)_ but in the process opens himself to possession by the spheres. You may think what they did was overkill, but really, the next step would be to incinerate the corpse in prometium, then use a vaccuum for the ashes, stuff them into an adamantium box and then launch said box into the nearest neutron star.)_
Welcome to WH40K. As far as this Astartes project goes. The Space Marine Chapter shown here aren’t part of the main lore, they are a creation of Syama Pederson specifically because he didn’t want any conflicts with the established lore. The dudes they fight in the energy bubble are Psykers who have telekinetic powers. The Psykers are actually a low power level as there are some in the main lore who can destroy cities with a thought. The entity imprisoned in the cell has a sibling and they are warp entities but I don’t think they’ve ever been officially identified by the creator. There’s a ton of theories tho’. You can see them communicating and one of them says “You must take them” just before the Imperial is possessed. What’s interesting to me is that when the Marines are taken into the Warp they’re held there by the entity’s tentacles but then something else, a black blur ( possibly a predatory Warp Daemon but again, no official confirmation ) destroys the entity and the marines are transported “somewhere” ( it’s anybody’s guess where ). The Marine who lost his hand has 3 studs on his forehead. Those are service studs and 3 means 300 yrs of service to the Imperium. In the last shot you can see flashes of light where the other Marines are arriving on the stone plinths. And yeah, look for the original version. It’s better imho.

Really suggest watch a explanation video for this called: "Astartes Explained For New People" by Thall, easy to find. He explains how badass Space Marines are. Remember Emperor Protects.
Luetin is The Guy when it comes to Wh40k. Thall made in my opinion the best voiceover for Astartes explaining it for New people. There also is Arbitor Ian who has made a very good video explaining Wh40k under 20 min. Highly reccomend.
Bricky is also a good source for 40k lore he has videos of the Factions of 40k, the Timeline of 40k, and the Astartes Legions explained well worth your time 👍
Welcome to the franchise rookie! You'll love it hear. I highly recommend Bricky's videos for beginner lore, particularly his Every Warhammer 40k Factions Explained videos, and from there following up on whatever factions interest you the most, this franchise is VAST with the lore. No matter the kind of gameplay style you like there is a faction for you with different beliefs, combat doctrines, etc. Sadly the creator of this project hasn't made anything new yet as he's still kind of working with Games Workshop, hopefully we'll get some updates on Astartes 2 soon though it may be unlikely. This video single-handedly got so many into the franchise it was very refreshing to see. Hope to see more 40k content from you, if you do do more consider me subscribed.

What the creator of AStartes perfectly captures, is the Essence of what makes 40k, well 40k. Absolute Action packed Brutal violence. Lovecraftian/Galactic Horror Thats what 40k essentialy, its an Horror movie, but where both the Protagonists and Antagonists are bad ass/terryfying as fuck.

To do so they have to syphon the Power of the Warp through their minds and bodies to manifest it in our Reality, by doing so tey expose themselves to the predators of the Warp, Warp entities or/and Daemons of Chaos, wich can lead to, Warp Possession. And Possession is taken VERY SERIOUSLY and as seen here, it is dealt with with EXTREME prejudice. Warp entities and Daemons can litteraly either Possess a psyker, turning him into a Daemonic Host, wich allows for the Daemon to act freely in our Plane of existance. Or they are used as a COnduit/Portal, through wich the Daemons of the Warp can invade our reality, leaing to a Daemonic incursion wich is the WORST case scenario. Thats why the Space Marine Captain(white helmet and cloak) din't think twice about it and obliterated the Poor Imperial Sanctioned psyker on the spot. Those "Orbs" are Warp Entities that can actually be both in our Univers and the warp, Once was captured and contained (the one on the ship with the Captain and the Psyker) and the other one is with the Astartes Strike team. The one with the Marines, tried to absorb them and Possess them, thats what we see, It is dragging them into the Warp. The "Shadow" that overcomes the Entity is most likely one of 2 things, either its the Backlash of having his Twin on the other ship been destroyed, or its another Warp predator passing by and getting a casual to go meal(the Warp is Dangerous like that) Thats why the Marines are yeeted out of the Warp at the end on a random planet that they have no knowledge of.
Is this the Warhammer+ edited version? Because the original and the re-upload of it has different sound design, the better one in my opinion and I get it for legal reasons they had to make some changes. To me the music is kind of ok but doesn't fit 1 to 1 with the ambiance.

ayyy Astartes got me into 40k back when part 4 released. It's important to note that this short series was made by 1 guy. All the direction, models, animation, sound, rendering, all 1 dude. Completely insane the level of quality and the passion he pumped into this fan series. It's nothing short of a travesty that he'll probably never work on Warhammer stuff ever again. If you want a quick lore breakdown, there's a guy on youtube called Thall187, he has a really good breakdown of Astartes. He also writes and narrates his own Warhammer short stories, so send some love his way if anyone's interested in supporting a small creator

Given that he was hired by GW and has been working on their animations for 2 years you might want to rethink that. His goal was to get hired and he succeeded, the only negative part of that for us is that he now works on what he gets told to work on rather than passion projects like a sequel to Astartes.

@@dpatriot4130 Bricky literally made those vids for people new to WH40K... in the start of his "every faction in WH40K part 1" he's talking about it being for people that know a little or nothing about it, showing an old man with an arrow pointing to him, calling him a heretical viewer... he even goes a little into the tabletop part of it, showing many very cool painted figures from all sort of races and demons... but be ware, u are gonna have to absorb a LOT of info...

Games Workshop made this worse. They should have done the absolute minimum to stitch the 5 parts together and left the rest alone.
