"He shoot an EMP blast, shut everything down?" No, that was a plasma pistol (yes, PISTOL) that basically shot a miniature sun at them. Needless to say, far more effective than an EMP for shutting people down, haha.

The guy in the red robes is an Inquisitor (like secret police, KGB/CIA type of guy) and also has access to psychic powers that he was using to listen in on the two orbs telepathically talking. What he hears has him worried enough that he's telling them to get their guys out, but when he's distracted by that the orb they have chained up starts to possess him, which is why you can hear him start chanting and seeing visions. Possessed psychic people are no joke, and can cause things up to and including ripping open a portal to basically hell, so the two space marines with him gave him a mercy kill.
@@aubreyfinn4450 Yeah, since then we have learned a lot about how the 40k universe works, so the events in the video are understandable to us now. Thanks for taking the time to leave an informative comment and for watching.
Just fyi gentlemen, the Bolter (the rifle the Astartes are using) fires a 75 caliber Self propelled explosive bullet. The size of Red Bull cans. (Think large rifle caliber RPG.)
What even more impressive about this animation is that, while warhammer has a lot of lore to draw on, this story centers around stuff that even 40k veterans are unlokely to have seen before.
@WadeWadeReacts Basically, only the tech on display was canon before GW essentially bought this short film. 1) The Space Marines were an OC chapter (the Retributors). 2) The "Argosa Uprisings" (the humans the Marines were fighting) were made up by the creator 3) The Orbs were an OC species of aliens.
@@chronictoasty-_-1969 Yes we're noticing that as we get deeper into the lore. The animator made them look so powerful, but like someone told us, the enemies in the short are weak.
Hate to say this but the creator of this masterpiece was hired by Games Workshop (which owns the IP) and ended up deleting everything because of copyright. Below is the comment by Witchblade112 on one of the latest videos of the Astartes channel what happened: For those wondering what happened, Games Workshop (GW) introduced new intellectual property rules this year that completely forbid any fan-made animations or basically any community productions that use GW content. They basically told all of their most hardcore fans to delete everything they had passionately worked on for years for nothing other than the love of the hobby, purely out of a misplaced sense of greed. @@Spookalypse That's unfortunate and upsetting. The fan animation and lore videos are the things making us interested in Warhammer. To attack enthusiastic fan animators is pure insanity; on top of that putting everything behind a pay wall with weak promotion.
