In warhammer there are no good or bad guys especially in 40K because there is chaos they worship dark gods and while they are worse than the imperium in ways the imperium is still a terrible place to live because poverty disease starvation are all 100% more likely to happen then than now also if you a normal human encounter a demon immediate execution by the Inquisition if the Grey Knights help you immediate execution by the Grey Knights why because there existence is supposed to be kept secret and demons are also supposed to be kept secret

Also about the Markiplier thing; Mark is actually a bit of a fan of 40k, and expressed his support for Astartes in the past. His latest project In Space With Markiplier Part 2 even includes a tiny easter egg that references warhammer.
Specifically, when the Astartes channel got hacked between parts 4 and 5, Markiplier was one of the big creators contacting YT in public and in private to get the guy his channel back.
Destiny has pulled a lot of inspiration from WH40K, and 40K pulls a lot of inspiration from all of sci-fi. Hell, the new Glaive weapon class in Witch Queen is clearly inspired by the Custodes Guardian Spears.

The things 'pumping' on the outside of the orb on the Astartes strike cruiser are actually krak charges (designed to blow holes in heavy armour on tanks). It's so dangerous that the Captain is taking zero chances. And yes, any psyker at risk of being possessed by Warp entities, even if they're Inquisitors, are terminated with EXTREME and IMMEDIATE prejudice by the Astartes. The Corvus design helmet (the pointy nose one) is used primarily by Assault marines, who use jetpacks to quickly jump into action and surprise the enemy with a face full of chainswords. The white helmet denotes Veteran status, and the other white helmet has a laurel on it, which generally signifies that that is the Captain of a space marine company.
@@gardenthefermentingsound6218 There are/were actual flight packs in 40K, they just were not used by Astartes. They were available as character equipment in the Rogue Trader days and the Eldar Aspect Swooping Hawks effectively have flight packs as they are capable of hovering, not just jumping. Just an FYI for you, not a dig :)
Yeah a corrupted psyker could become a rift into the warp which would infest the whole ship in demons. Or just tear the ship apart and plunge it into the warp. So it is standard to destroy possessed and broken psykers quickly and very thoroughly
@@ieuanhunt552 Warp fuckery is very, very real is 40k and *nothing* to mess around with. This Captain was 1000% correct in his course of action and believe it or not, but the psyker Inquisitior would be all for it. Being a "plaything" for chaos is not a pretty way go...
@@VeryDeathlyShiny if given the option of having his face smashed by an Astartes and a few bolter rounds. Ot having his mind torn apart and reassembled by Tzeech over and over and over again any sane psyker would choose the fist of an Astartes easily
Long story short, here is what happened and why in Astartes: All the grey armoured warriors were Astartes, which are genetically engineered super soldiers with minds and bodies many times more powerful than the "baseline" humans who saw them stomping. They are called Space Marines, and are from the Adeptus Astartes Chapter "Retributors." (The creator of the animation made this chapter up for the videos, they dont exist in the lore) This detatchement has been sent, probably ordered by the Inquisition, to destroy the orb artefacts we see in the video. A squad was sent on a breaching pod to enter the ship, which they did by flying at it and cutting into the hull with lazers, kill any they encounter, and render the warp artefacts inert or destroyed. On their way to the orbs, the squad encounters a pair of psykers. These psykers are powerful beings who possess a connection to "The Warp." It is a dimension connected but also separate to our own. There creatures which are created and fueled by the power of mortal souls and powerful emotion seek to corrupt or destroy mortals and their dimension (mostly just because). The masks you see their pair of psykers are called Psychic Hoods. They allow psykers to channel their powers much more controlably, as some psykers, if they are not extremely powerful, or attempt to channel forces more powerful than they are, can go mad, become focal points for rifts into the warp, or even become demon possessed. Inspite of what you might think, the pair of psykers we see are not particularly powerful ones. The most powerful psykers, called Alphas, can be capable of destroying cities or star ships. This is probably one of the reasons they wear the hoods, to give them a boost in power and control. Also, the hoods allow another person a measure of control over the wearer. The Astartes squad kill them in short order, and proceed into a vault in the enemy ship, which is likely psychically shielded, to find the orbs. When the astartes "stab" the orb, we see a connection has been made with it, which allows the Inquisitor back on the Astartes ship to essentially listen in on the psychic communication between the orbs. This was clearly not a good idea. After the unintelligible conversation the Inquisitor hears between the orbs, we hear two things for certain. First, "the astartes deny our touch" referring to the orb when it began its psychic assault of the astartes squad, and second, "take the alpha." "Take the alpha" referring to the inquisitor listening to their conversation. This inqisitor is an alpha level psyker, which is a being of devastating psychic power. The inquisitor is immediately corrupted by the power of the warp wielded by the orb artefacts, and we see him receiving visions, chanting heresy, and finally succumbing to madness. The two astartes officers, likely a captain and a sergeant, immediately kill the inquisitor, as leaving an Alpha Level Psyker who is warp possessed alive is a threat to all the galaxy (not an exaggeration.) Before the Inquisitor falls to madness, based on what he heard from the orbs, we hear him shout to the Astartes officers "GET THEM OUT OF THERE." Immediately we go back to our hero Astartes squad and see why. They orb "takes" them. Dragging them within the confines of the orb. We dont really know where they go when we see them tethered inside the orb. Whether the Astartes are in the warp, or a psychic vision, some other place... who knows. What we do see is that our hero Astartes are then teleported (through the warp - which is why he throws up blood) to a death planet. And that is basically what the story of Astartes is.
@@JohannLudwigEdel I'm 99% sure they're a homebrew chapter, but it definitely possible I am wrong. To be honest I'm just going off what others have said about it.

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of His inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that He may never truly die. Yet even in His deathless state, the Emperor continues His eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst His soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the Tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

You guys need to watch Bricky's videos to 'every Warhammer 40k faction explained' as he gives a summary of what they are and Templin institute 40k videos are really good as they feel more immersive to the universe.
I've been into Warhammer since 6th grade and still love reading all the huge amounts of lore in the rule and supplementary books etc, and Astartes is one of the best displays of a good 40K aesthetic. Over the years there has been a lot of cheese in media built for this franchise, both in fan-vids and more-so in official media or their video game license handouts. I feel like Astartes sets the bar for the direction in which the franchise should move. The creator has an incredible grasp on portraying a sliver of the lore with minimal dialogue and screen-time while still making it feel huge. The portrayal of Chaos, the efficiency of the Space Marines in their movements, the subtle religious elements, Astropaths, etc; it's just all so perfect. I really hope that GW tightens their grip a bit on where they hand out the franchise for games, while still allowing fan-creators to flourish (which this statement is currently the opposite). Less mobile games, more lax allowance on fan creators on their passion projects. Astartes has made it very clear which has a better vision for the franchise. That said, I have noticed a movement in their official products, there are a lot of nods to Astartes in their latest content. While still not hitting the mark, their CGI trailors for new rule-books (similar to how D&D has been doing), and newer games like the X-Com-like Chaos Gate:Daemon Hunters, are starting to feel less cheesy and more finesse, it's starting to come together a bit.
I'm fairly new to it myself, but from what I've gathered, this is a home-brew SM Chapter sent to recover the second orb protected by the troopers and psychic overlords on Ship B. Back on the homeship (Ship A) the red jacket and one of the white SM's belong to the religious order of the Imperium and they sent him in to investigate the orbs within the Warp. The orbs failed to convert the Astartes on Ship B, so they plot to take over the psyker on Ship A, multiplying his power and taking over the ships. The psyker warns the two standing by to get the others out of Ship B, and that he is going to get possessed, so he can be killed and stopped the force entering real space. He does, and gets beaten and shot to death, killing one orb consciousness. The Psykers soul enters the warp (the big shadow) to distract the second orb, which let's the SM's captured on Ship B to escape the Warp and zap back into real space (but scattered, where he is by himself in the desert court).
Not right on multiple aspects but not bad if you barely discover the universe! . I'd love to talk about it in details, but you are making wrong assumptions: for instance, the retributor space marine is not alone when he comes out of the warp on the strange planet. If you pay attention you can spot his team members appear with flashes of light on other pillars as he just did... This is only one thing among hundreds 😉 Also, nothing tells us that the inquisitor (which could also just be a member of an inquisitor retinue and not an Inquisitor himself) is a Psyker, being a Psyker means literally being an Heretic for 99.9% of the population and only a fringe among the inquisition itself would consider employing such a person). All we know of him is that he is deep in meditation helped by holy en cents and connected to the second orb by a cogitator (means used by the orb to corrupt him. If you watch closely, you can see a pulse coming down the cables riiight before he stands up in shock).
FYI, if you guys want to know more -- The UA-cam Channel "GP Girls Play" new nothing about Warhammer 40K and started out on Astartes. From that point on they've delved deep in this Rabbit Hole known as the Warhammer Universe. Astartes was done by a single Fan -- all the animation, texturing, editing & story, it took him some years to make all 5 and personally he's done a better job than the Maker's and Promo-peeps could've ever dreamed of.
1. At the beginning of the video, it tells you the viewer that the Astartes are responding to a rebellion. 2. There are two C'tan spheres, one that is bound and chained on the Inquisition Ship and the second one is on the Rebel Ship that is free to communicate and control weaker life forms. 3. Psykers let alone XEENO PSYKERS in 40k lore have the potential ability to psychically reach across worlds and manipulate the minds of others, so this should explain why there were C'tan on the Rebel Ship. 4. 6:35 Two stage trigger system on the rifle makes me appreciate this more. 5. 7:35 You'll see multiple optical lenses all with different tasks and functions moving. 6. The C'tan speak English to themselves, it is muffled to the shit but when you hear them communicate to Astartes it is dubbed in Japanese. - Orb 1: Who is here? - Orb 2: is me brother. - Orb 1: We have all failed, the Astartes deny our touch - We must return, break your seal. - Orb 2: Impossible! We'll never survive. - Orb 1: You must take the alpha. (Probably meaning the lead space marine). 5. The reason the Inquisitor tech priest was immediately executed because if they delayed any longer... He would become possessed and much harder to kill in a short amount of time. 6. When the Astartes Sergeant is teleported onto the pillar at the end, in the distance you can see each remaining Astartes gradually be teleported onto the remaining pillars. I bet Games Workshop was shocked and amazed at future prospects of new fans becoming their customers. Also GW be like: Hippity-Hoppity, all your hard done work is now our property.
The Adeptus Astartes (aka Space Marines) are quite literally superhuman. Designed by hand by the Emperor himself, they stand about 7-8 feet tall, weigh about 300 kilos, have greatly enhance strength, endurance, reflexes, and senses, and have modified organs that allow them to digest and breathe toxins if necessary, a hardened bone carapace instead of a rib cage, etc. Add to that another 700 kilos of ceramite power armour and a boltgun that shoots small rocket-propelled mass-reactive grenades (meaning they explode when surrounded by mass, such as *a body* ) , and imagine all of that charging at you at 50 mph. Anyone that stands up to THAT is either insane or extremely powerful themselves, which is why we LOVE Warhammer, because sometimes it's both :P
The Markiplier thing along with some of the other explanations is because he was the biggest of the youtuber's voices who helped the original creator get his channel and assets back from UA-cam after his UA-cam account was stolen and then shortly after locked down after an event where the hacker tried to extort money from the creator and then forced UA-cam to shut down the project. Markiplier the quartering, many anti UA-cam censorship people, and a whole fucking mess of Warhammer 40k or just nerd channels in general supported the original creator because the Astarte's fan films where a huge vial sensation when first launched and brought new attention and life to 40k on par with another long standing 40k parody show. I believe this incident happened shortly after episode 3 was launched but got big after the channel did not release the 4th episode when the creator stated he would and was forced to reveal his account being stolen and you tube's shitty handling of the situation.
The thanks were on the original release of episodes 5 and a rereleased 4 but the 1-5 you guys are seeing is an altered reupload as the original creator was forced to take them down when he signed an agreement with games workshop over the IP and to work for them in the future. Unfortunately GW hasn't done to much with the man and seems ti have wasted his talent so far as well has destroying their fan creations in a dick move they made last year. (which they have only quietly rescinded and due to not owning up to the mistake they are paying for it.)
I have been into 40k, for over 25 years....and I'm still a little confused by Astartes, but I love it lool, its also unlikely to be Chaos though, I have heard a few plausible theories, Chaos is not one of them though. The insignia does not fit a Chaos god, and nothing seems to align with specific gods general vibe, Tzench would be the closest but I think the thing you see with tenticles is more likely the cause, and that is not a Chaos god, although it could be a Warp entity of some description, but then also could be a material life form that is sentient, psychic and bordering on god like. There are a huge amount of different entities in 40k, many of which have nothing to do with Chaos. I think it's a psychic entity that has a strong warp presence, maybe something like a C'tan . I doubt its actually a C'tan, but something more long those lines The C'tan were almost god like, and fed on stars and had crazy powers, but were a material life form, what ever these are, are more likely comparable to a C'tan, or may even be a C'tan Look into "The Old Ones" and the "C'tan" and the "War in Heaven" in 40k lore, it will explain much better than I can
It's the Yu'Vath. It's a big race in the lore, but it was in the path of the Emperor's Crusade and got pretty stomped. They are known for dominating and controlling the will of others, using the warp in technology at a level of precision no race has since replicated, being basically immortal, and are basically one of the highest priorities in the Ordo Xenos archives since even one Yu'Vath can easily take over systems mind by mind.
One of the big clues is the statue's material is being used to create more of those spinal grafts we see in storage, beyond just the look of the alien. Pretty much all Yu'Vath technology is in some way mentally scaring or dominating. I suspect the reason the rebellion happened at the start of the title screen is someone found some old ruins with a Yu'Vath chilling, got controlled and forced to make grafts, then kidnap psychically capable people into alien mind slavery.
and also its so fun listening to someone reference the necron gods when their fighting humans lol the c'tan wont be involved lol, good luck on your lore journey
One thing seemingly few people notice is that, when the Astates are walking past the giant golden statue, hundreds of the psychic hoods/spines that the two psykers were wearing can been seen on either side of it. Clearly, the orbs (whatever they are) were planning on making a *LOT* more of those guys.
I appreciate that you are "new" enough to warhammer to try to explain what is going on without starting with something like "well 10,000 years before this exact moment..." Not to say that you are new to warhammer so much as too many of us are cursed by Tzeentch.
The thanks to Markiplier was because the creator of Astartes has his channel stolen and sold between the fourth and fifth episodes, severl big UA-camrs, including Mark, helped spread the news, and assisted in the return of the channel.
I been into wh40k at the level of buying minis and reading the rule books for years, and i still was lost with this. it took reading some posts online to get whats happening. that could just be me not being used to a totally dialog free style of storytelling cuz when i'd read stuff i'd be all "oh that makes total sense I just missed it"
i love that when they are sucked in to the orb, they are being dragged in by an evil entity, and another evil entity intercepted them and sent them where they where.
there is dialog in the last episode ball1: astartes: ball1:who is there, I have failed, brother ball2: we have all failed the astartes deny our touch ball1: you must return, break your seal ball2: impossilbe we'll never survive. you must take them inquisitor(guy who gets possessed): recall them immediately
Space marines: biologically augmented supersoldiers covered in a powered suit of armor covered in thick plates comprised of ceramite, a flexible ceramic building material, and adamantium, a hyper-durable metal found throughout the galaxy. Armed with the mk-IV Godwyn pattern Boltgun, commonly referred to as bolters, and possessing a number of synthetic organs that further differentiate these warriors from humans, space marines are revered as the God-Emperor of Mankind's Angels of Death. Most humans will never see a space marine in their lifetimes, those that do, regard them as demigods among men.
Basically, 40K covers several major factions in the galaxy, of which Humanity (The Imperium of Man) is one. You also have the Orks (genetically engineered survivalists who love to fight and create their own psychically-generated energy field the more of them are together), the Eldar/Aeldari (arrogant space-elves), forces of Chaos (daemons and corrupted mortals who do the bidding of the Chaos Gods), Tyrannids (a hive-mind of murderous creatures that are coming from *outside* the galaxy) and Necrons (Ancient, metallic slaves of the C'tan - pronounced with a hard 'C' - godlike beings who rival chaos)
Oh yeah, and the T'au (newcomers to the galactic conflict, high-tech aliens with a caste-based system, who ally with other races for the 'Greater Good'... or kill them)
One hypothesis for the unfinished body is that they were fashioning a vessel for the sphere entity to inhabit. The Spheres seem to be the only interface they have with the material world. That scene where the Space Marine was in darkness was the Warp through which he and his companions were transported to the world with the pedestals. If you look closely as the shot goes wide you see little flashes of light on some of the far off pedestals, the other Space Marines.
The orbs are on both ships. They are the ships machine spirit or AI cores. It is very hard to corrupt one. This one appears to be corrupted by a greater demon or even a demon prince. That big statue was going to be a "body" for the corrupted AI core. They sent a squad in hoping to clean that ships machine spirit with their own and the help of the Inquisition. They bit off a little more than they could chew. In a nut shell, an normal Tuesday for 40k.
The orbs are Yu'Vath, an alien psychic race in the Warhammer 40k lore. They are known for dominating the minds and wills of others, creating technology that manipulates the warp at such a level of precision unseen elsewhere, being basically immortal, and once having a massive empire that happened to be in the path of the Emperor's grand crusade.
@@chrisbaldwin8570 Don't think its more likely that a warp entity using a kind of Obliterator virus to infect a ships machine spirit? Maybe even turning that machine spirit into a very powerful entity of the warp? Like a psychotic AI?
So glad some awesome people have already spelled things out in the comments and gotten them right, especially SarmonOflynn, and a correct dialog between the spheres shows up in a nested comment from Zach Johnson as a reply. I'm just adding minor flavor text with timestamps from my perspective. 2:49 - The Retributors are a homebrew of Syama Pedersen's own creation. "Astartes" is short for the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, with early Rogue Trader magazines giving as one of the translations "Masters of the Stars." In our world it seems like a blend of Aster (star) + tas (being) with Astarte, the goddess of War (among other things.) 3:10 - Nope, Astartes are genetically engineered and modified super soldiers standing on average 7' 6" outside of their armor (varies a lot). Luetin09 has a video "SPACE MARINE CREATION/RECRUITMENT - Your guide on becoming an Astartes | WARHAMMER 40,000 Lore" that goes through recruitment and creation. 3:23 - The five man team of Retributor Astartes led by the Sergeant loads up on a *BOARDING TORPEDO* escorted by two drones and a craft. The two drones provide point defense and tank incoming fire, while their escort takes out the engines so the torpedo can connect and bore in.
The space marines here are the Retributors. They are an offshoot of one of the founding chapters of space marines called the Imperial Fists. The Fists are defenders of the empire and strike at the enemies of the empire proactively. The Retributor's are a fleet chapter meaning that they are always moving and have no home base. They are fast response to extremely dangerous or potentially extremely dangerous situations. They're more tactically focused and meant for when no chances can be taken and extreme measures are required. The people they were fighting were followers of chaos and the two large leaders where psykers who can use the powers of chaos. Basically it's space magic drawn from another dimension called the warp. The warp is a metaphysical dimension influenced by belief, emotions and thought. Those with the talent to tap into and draw power from the warp to affect reality are called psykers. The man with the space marines who appeared to be meditating/praying in front of the orb was a member of the imperial inquisitors. Inquisitors have a number of agents who are psykers trained to use their powers to fight chaos. The warp is full of monsters and chaos daemons and the problem is that they can possess people. Psykers in particular are vulnerable to this if they are not well trained and if the monster is powerful enough than no amount of training can protect the psyker. The inquisitor picked up distrubing information from the sphere's which housed powerful chaos beings and tried to relay the information to his superiors. However this break in concentration made the warp monsters he was eve's dropping on aware of his presence and they immediately possessed him. Standard procedure for any possessed psyker is to terminate with extreme prejudice before the monster controlling them can access their powers and attack. The beings within the sphere's attacked the space marines and six of them were pulled into the warp. The warp is a dimension best describe as a place where every thought, dream and nightmare exist simultaniously along with gods, monsters and entities that are formed from the collective emotions/beliefs/thoughts of every sentient soul carrying life form in the galaxy. The warp doesn't follow conventional time and space and is used by ships for FTL travel across the galaxy. When you go in and leave the warp, unless you have the proper instruments and equipment, you can be deposited to any location, any amount of time after you went in. The last marine in the video has be spat out into an unknown alien location.
This is so much better than anything GamesWorkshop has ever released. They hired this guy to keep him from making anything else and embarrassing GW. GW cracked down on fan made stuff like this and tried to trick fan creators into signing an extremely predatory NDA. GW has done some extremely scummy things which is really infuriating and sad.
The space marines in this series only sent one squad of five aboard the enemy ship. Five marines killed a regiment's worth of defenders and two battle psykers, think supercharged hive wizards with a combination of light and darkness.
No idea if someone already explained the part with the inquisitor yet, I’m assuming someone has but I’m too lazy to go looking, he told the commander of the team or the chapter master to recall the squad. The loss of the concentration caused him to get possessed by a demon. That’s part of the reason why they blew his head up and shot his body even more as a demon is a tough thing to kill. Or it could’ve caused something like a gate to open and allow more demons in, no idea as we don’t see what happens if it was successful.
Kullivar put out a great video which has some solid guesses as to explaining the Astartes project. Combine that with some lore videos from Arch and you can get a solid idea for what was going on in this amazing project.
By the way "Astartes" probably comes from the name of the antic godess Astarte who is a kind of bellicist Godess. She has been adored from the bronze age to antic Grece though her name changed sometimes (She is known as Tanit in Carthage, I guess that name is known by the fans as well). As Monotheist turned former gods into angels or demons Astarte became Astaroth, another name for the devil. Wich fairly suits the transformation from Godlike creature of the emperor to Chaos space Marines I reckon. ^^
High Gothic is pretty much mangled Latin and Adeptus Astartes loosely translates to "masters of the stars", much as Adeptus Ministorum is "masters of the ministry", Adeptus Mechanicus "masters of the machine" etc. Very unlikely that there was a reference to an ancient goddess, much more likely that the creators made some use of the Latin we all had rammed down our throats at that time :)
@@Barbafifi Could be a little of both, High Gothic is a latized mess so either translation probably works out. Big fan of Astarte though, love ancient Semetic myths. Plus in the 40k lore the Emperor was born around that region (in Anatolia, but not geographically that far away) in around 8000-ish BC so he would have been alive when Astarte was still being worshiped, and could have used her name all that time later as a reference.
The big E wasn't intentional to purged all xenos. He just preparing the galaxy to let humanity conquer it once again, since the golden age of humanity often called "Dark age of technology" but his plan to bypass the warp by using the webway of Aeldari Empire ended up destroyed by Magnus the Nerd and rebellion of male pattern baldness poster boy Horus Lupercal.
the skeletons in the chair represent the half dead emperor sittting in his throne that keeps his body alive and the orb is actually liike a portal to the chaos realm and they got dragged into the portal not by the orb but buy the octopus like demon and we dont hear the space marines talk because the communicate in their helmet so that they dont give away their plan or position. the space marines were their to capture the orb to be used to travel over vast distances in space. Astartes is the original scientist who created the space marines and their battalion is named after the scientist. the inquisitor is like a right hand man to the emperor think spanish inquisition and the inquisitor was the highest ranking person in that room but because he was being possessed they had to kill him quick and destroy the body if their is anything left the demon can use the body to take form.
If you'r eever gonna want to read this then heres the semi-official explanation of lore. The space marines are putting down a rebellion. The rebellion ship has a xenos orb containing a "warp being" - a god if you will. The astartes ship also has one, which suggests this is a race of xenos beings. The golden man is being dissassembled into the spine + mask combos, which we see in the room. The idea is probably that the big golden man was a physical body for the entity inside the orb, but by dissasembling it it can give humans some of its psychic powers. The astartes connect the second orb to the first through some sort of psi- device. Teh inquisitor breaks in on the orb's conversation and they get possessed by one of the orbs. The other orb o the "bad guy" ship takes the five astartes into the warp - we see them tethered to it somehow. However, in the warp intself - a mysterious fith faction attacks and kills the alien god, which drops the astartes into the warp itself. Our main character ends up teleported onto a random planet somewhere in the universe (one of the many possible effects of the warp). We can speculate that the planet he finds himself on is actually the original planet of the xenos orbs. In other words: a regular Tuesday for the space marines. Hope this helps somewhat.

As some others may have said 40k has been around for over 30 years and has inspired alot of other works and settings that often take a much more toned down approach then 40k grimdark view which is often has the only difference between the actions of a villain and a hero is the reason why and the perspective of the current viewer. E.g ordering the death of an entire world, killing all that try to flee in unarmed escape craft from the orbital laser cannon then viral bombing has been done many times by both heroes and villains
If it comes out that the Inquisitor lost his focus because s/he witnessed the fall of the Necron, via the artifact, and realized the gravity of the forces they were fucking with.. Well I'll be honest its a twist i'd be down for.

space marine armor is made from ceramite which is stronger than steel and lighter there is stronger materials but most space marines have ceramite armor custodes have gold suits of armor that are made of auramite which is stronger and terminators have adamantium(stronger than ceramite) frames and ceramite armored plates covering the outside
The Astartes are boarding the traitor vessel via Caestus Assault Ram, a boarding craft fitted with twin-linked Magna Meltas (high energy microwave beams) that can burn through a ship's hull like butter to deliver the deadliest of payloads :P The enemies they're fighting are Imperial Guardsmen, regular men armed with standard weaponry like autoguns, stubbers, and lasguns, all of which do literally nothing to the Mark VII Aquila Power Armour the Astartes wear. Not even that Multi-las did more than scorch the paintjob :P Just wait until you see them pull out the chainswords, power claws, and thunder hammers. Combat knives are all well and good, but these, THESE are what make Space Marines FEARED.
Im a big Astartes fan, it was 1 guy doing the whole thing big repect The orb thing in restraints was on the Frigate and was getting pyhicly "intergated" by a member of the Inquisition He was killed because the orb pushed back and got 1 up on him Common consensus is that these orbs were encountered by humanity during the great crusade. Referenced in the 40k 2nd edition rule book, i cant remember if they were named. As humanity tried the normal purge on 1st contact with these orbs, and keeping 1 of their number in captivity since then it is safe to say this "race" doesnt really like the astartes of humanity.
As a hardcore lover of 40k since 2000 I am always blown away when someone doesnt know about it, but watching others get pulled into this rabbit hole fills me with joy and schadenfreude. Also: "warhammer probably copied..." Well yes....but in that context no
Okay so I was only like half listening but I did notice that there was a Warhammer display in the background which clearly said Warhammer so that's the thing anyways
Long story short, the Space Marines (Big armored guys) are sent as part of a strike force on behalf of the Inquisition (Hooded guy communing with ball) to deal with a rebel cruiser. They also seem to obviously know that the rebellion is being led or manipulated by the Yu'Vath (The orb you saw), a race of aliens capable of controlling and dominating minds and being rare now but use to have a massive empire that wielded strange technology married to the Warp (what gives all the psychics you see their powers, so really bad to just put into a computer or a gun). That said, the Space Marine's job seems to be securing the alien for imprisonment and extraction as we plainly see later when the two Yu'Vath (the orbs) talk to each other the one being held in the prison tells the other to take the space marines and flee once it broke it's shackles even though it likely won't survive the journey. Once they board and fight their way to the storage facility on the ship we see them fighting two psykers (Psychics) that are unusually large and roughly the size or larger than the marines themselves. We also see the spinal graft in the storage area next to the statue, it seems like it was either excavated with the statue or since the statue's foot seems to have been disassembled for material it might be that the foot was used in the creation of the spinal grafts you see in that room and the rebellion's plan was to leave the system or go somewhere else and graft more psykers into alien slavery. Either way, once the Space Marines reach the Yu'Vath (the orb) it tries to take over their minds but fails to gain control of them. They then proceed to stab it with devices designed to dampen or contain it's powers. We then see the ship they launched from. Their Captain is walking to meet the Inquisitor communing with the imprisoned Yu'Vath they have on the ship, likely using the trapped one to locate and track down others. However, as the Inquisitor peeks in on the Yu'Vath's communications with each other he learns of their plans and tries to save the squad on the ship. That moment sees his concentration slip and in the distraction the imprisoned Yu'Vath sends a pulse directly into his mind. This causes him to see visions and begin to do... Something. Likely soon to attempt to free the Yu'Vath on that ship but the Captain and his second in command swiftly stop that from happening. Back on the ship we see the Space Marines absorbed and taken by the Yu'Vath there. However, while traveling through the warp something attacks and kills the Yu'Vath in transit, causing everyone to be separated and likely sent to the far ends of the galaxy. We pick back up on our Space Marine POV character when he pops back in to the material world again, weakened and sickened by the trip. As he stands up and takes in the nearby landscape we see an obviously alien world with enshrined giants looking over a valley. This is likely on the core worlds of the old Yu'Vath empire, where they enslaved the minds and greater and greater races to create more effective thralls. It's likely these old corpses we see are simply another more favored slave race and they guarded or looked over something valuable or important to the Yu'Vath.
There are videos on UA-cam that people explain what is happening. Kullivar is great for new people, TacticalTortoise is great for detail. Well worth a watch and like everyone else is saying for a general 40k overview Brickys video is great. If you are more interested in the deep lore then Luetin09 is the loremaster to watch for complete knowledge and Majorkill is the go to for stupidity and memes.

You know what they say about Warhammer Lore:
*"The 40k isn't just the year, its the amount of hours needed to understand what's going on"*
Once you start to get a decent grasp on the universe is when you realize you know very little. That is why it is best to support a Waghhh! Cause the Orks life is simple and fun.

Also about the Markiplier thing; Mark is actually a bit of a fan of 40k, and expressed his support for Astartes in the past. His latest project In Space With Markiplier Part 2 even includes a tiny easter egg that references warhammer.
Most men in their 20s-30s are warhammer fans even if they dont know it.
Specifically, when the Astartes channel got hacked between parts 4 and 5, Markiplier was one of the big creators contacting YT in public and in private to get the guy his channel back.
I think I remember that but I can't recall which that is
It also has multiple references to Event Horizon which is fucking awesome
It's because Markiplier helped get the person's channel back because the channel got hacked
Destiny has pulled a lot of inspiration from WH40K, and 40K pulls a lot of inspiration from all of sci-fi. Hell, the new Glaive weapon class in Witch Queen is clearly inspired by the Custodes Guardian Spears.
Two of the biggest inspirations for Warhammer is the Starship Trooper book/s and the Dune books.
And thereafter everyone else copied everything from WH40k ^^.
Starcraft is basically a family friendly version of 40k
@@DannyDi84 Because, to my understanding, Starcraft was supposed to be a 40k game originally, but GW backed out of the deal and Blizzard just made their own thing out of it.

@@TheSchultinator tbh, this doesn't at all matter since everything isn't at all "original" anymore. So what else can be done?

@Resjior Reniot Agreed, he is a good way to ease someone into the lore, I took the opposite route originally and have watched all of Leutin09's lore videos
And if you enjoy the Bricky video you can check out Leutin who will correct any errors and take 100x times longer to explain it... but he is British so hearing him speak is always enjoyable.
Jump packs not jetpacks. The closest to jetpacks are grav chutes
Long story short, here is what happened and why in Astartes:
All the grey armoured warriors were Astartes, which are genetically engineered super soldiers with minds and bodies many times more powerful than the "baseline" humans who saw them stomping. They are called Space Marines, and are from the Adeptus Astartes Chapter "Retributors." (The creator of the animation made this chapter up for the videos, they dont exist in the lore)
This detatchement has been sent, probably ordered by the Inquisition, to destroy the orb artefacts we see in the video.
First, "the astartes deny our touch" referring to the orb when it began its psychic assault of the astartes squad, and second, "take the alpha."
"Take the alpha" referring to the inquisitor listening to their conversation. This inqisitor is an alpha level psyker, which is a being of devastating psychic power. The inquisitor is immediately corrupted by the power of the warp wielded by the orb artefacts, and we see him receiving visions, chanting heresy, and finally succumbing to madness. The two astartes officers, likely a captain and a sergeant, immediately kill the inquisitor, as leaving an Alpha Level Psyker who is warp possessed alive is a threat to all the galaxy (not an exaggeration.)
Before the Inquisitor falls to madness, based on what he heard from the orbs, we hear him shout to the Astartes officers "GET THEM OUT OF THERE."
Immediately we go back to our hero Astartes squad and see why.
I feel like i heard about the Retributors before, either in a game or a lore snippet.
you absolute legend

This is only one thing among hundreds 😉
Also, nothing tells us that the inquisitor (which could also just be a member of an inquisitor retinue and not an Inquisitor himself) is a Psyker, being a Psyker means literally being an Heretic for 99.9% of the population and only a fringe among the inquisition itself would consider employing such a person).

Yup, they started with Astartes and now we get the weekly reaction to Text to Speech.
Yes, this guy was about to do something sick like mass Daemon invasion, and they stopped him. Immediately.
Not only is this a fan project, it's all done by one guy! Which makes the excellent quality especially amazing.
Best way to explain the warp. "Have you watched Event Horizon?"
12:49 Everyone's caught off-guard at their first time seeing Daemonic Possession Countermeasure Number One.
I doubt its actually a C'tan, but something more long those lines
The C'tan were almost god like, and fed on stars and had crazy powers, but were a material life form, what ever these are, are more likely comparable to a C'tan, or may even be a C'tan
Look into "The Old Ones" and the "C'tan" and the "War in Heaven" in 40k lore, it will explain much better than I can
It's the Yu'Vath.
I suspect the reason the rebellion happened at the start of the title screen is someone found some old ruins with a Yu'Vath chilling, got controlled and forced to make grafts, then kidnap psychically capable people into alien mind slavery.
the giant metal dude is probably a reference to the Eisenhorn books where they have a similar entity in a orb and they make it a body.
and also its so fun listening to someone reference the necron gods when their fighting humans lol the c'tan wont be involved lol, good luck on your lore journey
One thing seemingly few people notice is that, when the Astates are walking past the giant golden statue, hundreds of the psychic hoods/spines that the two psykers were wearing can been seen on either side of it. Clearly, the orbs (whatever they are) were planning on making a *LOT* more of those guys.
They should watch Leutins creation of a space marine to see just how badass these guys really are. :)
power armor is what the space marines wear. Ceramite is the material used to craft the special armor they wear.

Seriously just can't imagine a near 10 ft tall human being who has extra organs coming at me
The orbs are on both ships.
This was a pretty good watch. If you guys haven't yet (new to the channel) you might want to watch Bricky's introduction to 40k video.
Cheers!
People who dont understand War Hammer 40k will say anything coz they get but the universe in War Hammer is enough creates lots of series, movies etc.
"Astartes" is short for the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, with early Rogue Trader magazines giving as one of the translations "Masters of the Stars." In our world it seems like a blend of Aster (star) + tas (being) with Astarte, the goddess of War (among other things.)
3:10 - Nope, Astartes are genetically engineered and modified super soldiers standing on average 7' 6" outside of their armor (varies a lot).
The two drones provide point defense and tank incoming fire, while their escort takes out the engines so the torpedo can connect and bore in.
i allways love new peoples reaction to the standart posession protocol
Whos the baddies?
let me tell you a little something about the universe of warhammer...
no one is good, every faction is a baddies ;)
@Dank Waifu You think
@Dank Waifu The Ta'u are also bad and very hypocritical.
"that guys head exploded btw" yeah a redbull can sized RPG will do that.
honestly the "it a-maze-ing" comment made me sub lmao
This is so much better than anything GamesWorkshop has ever released. They hired this guy to keep him from making anything else and embarrassing GW. GW cracked down on fan made stuff like this and tried to trick fan creators into signing an extremely predatory NDA. GW has done some extremely scummy things which is really infuriating and sad.
They are very bad at managing their own lore and IP.
This should be higher. Company is garbage
The space marines in this series only sent one squad of five aboard the enemy ship. Five marines killed a regiment's worth of defenders and two battle psykers, think supercharged hive wizards with a combination of light and darkness.
@@PodreyJenkin138 fair. But still, that's a lot of troopers.
'Maybe they're the baddies.' It's complicated.
"So it's a bit like Fortnite."
"... *NO* !"
Who are the goodies and who are the baddies? We dont do that in 40k.
When the Psycker goes fucky you don't hesitate, to be fair they went easy on him they should have got a heavy flamer in there as well.
React to warhammer 40 000 an intro to the dark millennium.
Bryce will have to convince the other two, but we shall have a look into it! 👍😁
The guy in the middle made some good guesses 👏🏻
"Thats unfortunate, ey", you wallabees go. lol
This was completely made by one man, Syama Pedersen, a New Zealander
"Pretty aMAZEing" I'm dying 🤣 😭 😂
I love how you guys have Ork Boyz box on a shelf, you should paint them :p
Kullivar put out a great video which has some solid guesses as to explaining the Astartes project. Combine that with some lore videos from Arch and you can get a solid idea for what was going on in this amazing project.
"Death of Hope trailers" now that's something that get any1 hooked on 40k
That's technically 30k, but yes. I'm more of a HH person, myself.
I always thought the Inquisitors' visions before his death was the creature in the orb trying to intimidate him/weaken him so they could take his body
There was a video "Astartes Explained For New People" that did a good job breaking it down
By the way "Astartes" probably comes from the name of the antic godess Astarte who is a kind of bellicist Godess.
And bcs they are make by Big E and a perpetual named Amar Astarte
@@Joshuuadu37 He protects !
@@MrGrimsmith May be so. Yet The name Astarté Comes from that Era and the name may be connected to the word, dunno. . It fits nicely though.
Love watching the reaction to Standard Exorcism Procedure.
the skeletons in the chair represent the half dead emperor sittting in his throne that keeps his body alive and the orb is actually liike a portal to the chaos realm and they got dragged into the portal not by the orb but buy the octopus like demon and we dont hear the space marines talk because the communicate in their helmet so that they dont give away their plan or position. the space marines were their to capture the orb to be used to travel over vast distances in space.
Between the needler and destiny references, I remember the dark times in my life when i was forced to consume inferior sci-fi universes.
Oh how am I just now seeing this lol
They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me.
Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them.
They will be of iron will and steely muscle.
In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed.
They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them.
They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle.
They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity.
They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

"Looks like a maze on his head"
"Yeah pretty amazing"
Instant sub.
Yeah the median height for an Astartes is about 7ft tall they can get as big as 13ft though.
2:59 Right there you had normal humans !
I always describe 40k as "If Star Wars listened to Death Metal and was addicted to Bath Salts"
The emperor protects!
there are live action 40k shorts and such too.

22:00 If Astartes makes ALL of it, Hell Yes !
The Astartes are boarding the traitor vessel via Caestus Assault Ram, a boarding craft fitted with twin-linked Magna Meltas (high energy microwave beams) that can burn through a ship's hull like butter to deliver the deadliest of payloads :P
The enemies they're fighting are Imperial Guardsmen, regular men armed with standard weaponry like autoguns, stubbers, and lasguns, all of which do literally nothing to the Mark VII Aquila Power Armour the Astartes wear. Not even that Multi-las did more than scorch the paintjob :P
Just wait until you see them pull out the chainswords, power claws, and thunder hammers. Combat knives are all well and good, but these, THESE are what make Space Marines FEARED.
One thing that will blow your mind is that a single person made this.
Im a big Astartes fan, it was 1 guy doing the whole thing big repect
The orb thing in restraints was on the Frigate and was getting pyhicly "intergated" by a member of the Inquisition
He was killed because the orb pushed back and got 1 up on him
Common consensus is that these orbs were encountered by humanity during the great crusade.
Also: "warhammer probably copied..."
Well yes....but in that context no
Okay so I was only like half listening but I did notice that there was a Warhammer display in the background which clearly said Warhammer so that's the thing anyways
you guys should watch bricky explanation of warhammer
If you are more interested in the deep lore then Luetin09 is the loremaster to watch for complete knowledge and Majorkill is the go to for stupidity and memes.
never seen this channel before but if you are reacting to Astartes im definitely gonna watch that. especially if its being done blind
