Nice how-to. I just bought a rough '67 & I need to do this. I need a welder. What do you recommend for a beginner welder that's not too expensive?

Sorry man i didn’t see this. Honestly the hobarts really good and fairly cheap. Millers are the best but they are expensive as hell, if it was me i would get on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace and start looking for a used one. I’ve seen nice used wireless welders for 150 bucks. Lincoln, Miller’s, Hobart, any name brand you can’t go wrong with. What you don’t want to do is buy a new Chinese one for 200 bucks on eBay because finding parts for them are impossible and you will spend more money then if you bought a name brand used one.
Good luck! Let me know whatcha get!

Quick question? When you do it this way what about the heat channel? Does this by pass the heat channel? I am putting pans on and I have stopped the heat coming to the channels. My bug is only used in he summer. So this bypasses putting a new heat channel? Thank you

You can do it either way, i bypassed them but it easily could of left them open. 👍

@@CaseysCustoms So did you take them out to add the rocker panels?

@@matuerob you can, or you can leave them. I left them in and just welded them closed.

What color are you going with once all the rust repairs are done?

Thomas Earhart not sure at all yet torch. I keep changing my mind. Might leave it as is and start driving it and beating on it, might strip it down and do a candy apple red paintjob. Might leave it all together and do a quickie paintjob. Not sure at all LOL
