16:00 Story 9: I have severe abandonment issues, but one thing that really drives me up the wall is that the last time you ever see someone, they usually say something like "I'll be _right_ back." It's created a Pavlovian response, so whenever someone's like "Don't worry, I'm coming right back." On the one hand, it's like, thanks for triggering me there, buddy; on the other hand it's time to start trying to convince myself that this time, _this time_ things will be different. And k'know, sometimes they are. It's not like there's a 100% abandon rate, it's barely 70-90% or something.

What the OP of story 1 should have said to his disgusting step-mother when she said she didn't trust him with sharp objects, it should have been "Well, we can't trust you to bring a baby to term"

Not the worst moment but was talking about compatibility with my wife at a café and used the example of a conservative Christian man marrying a woman whose friends were covered in tattoos and body piecing. It lasted about a month.
I then turned around and saw that the man behind me was … you guessed it … covered in tattoos and body piecing.
I almost died of embarrassment …

That last story, what confuses me is that OP invited the friend to join them, was roommate not aware of this? Was roommate absent or deaf when this was going down? If the conversation happened outside or via text it's pretty standard to give the others a heads up, "My high school friend is on her way". Pretty jarring to be joined by a stranger without knowing they're coming, so pretty natural to mention it, better people will check beforehand "Hey, anybody mind of my old friend joins us?".

What the fuck is wrong with that family in the first story why aren't they getting this person out of that terrible situation to do with the dad and the stepmom and I know that Dad is not the stepdad because that would make no sense for them to be called a stepdad I understand that the person of that story might have missed entitled the dad's title with step dad instead of dad but the point I'm just trying to make is this like I don't understand how the family could allow that to happen were literally their own family member was not allowed to be invited to their own birthday party cuz I saw that going on I'm calling the fucking cops

Not impossible, especially since stepdad had several marriages. Stepdad marries mom, mom passes away (or, way less likely, is found a vastly unfit parent in the divorce, like a drug addict), so stepdad ended up with custody. I remember a year or two ago seeing some TV show or something where a step-parent divorced and was going for full custody when mom was fine, mom was scared of losing her kids, somehow it was treated as a real possibility, like huh? Like he had a 50/50 claim/chance just like he was the biological dad. Seems wrong, but if writers wrote it they're either VERY incompetent or these things don't work the way we'd think.

So for story one, are the step dad and step mom married to other people or are they married to each other somehow? Sounds like they're both living with op

Maybe it was his mother's husband and something happened to his mom and dad? I have seen a divorce where both bio parents do not end up with custody of the kids. The mom was on drugs and dad was active military so the kids couldn't live with either parent. He then got a girlfriend and sued for custody because there was someone now to watch them when he was gone.

Oh come on you can't even get the AI to use proper english, you don't have a pair of step parents if one of them have to be a biological parent
