The personal qualities that can assist someone to become 'the popular kid', or a successful politician, a high level executive, & a number of other positions. Are the exact same qualities & personality traits that psychopaths and sociopaths display, things like assertiveness, ability to read & guide social dynamics, willingness to step forward & lead situations, the unconscious(& sometimes conscious) ability to make others feel safe/secure/sure/wanted/validated, all from reading the ebb and flow of emotional dynamics of a person(& often crowd dynamics), & many, many more attributes like these, give the popular & the leaders, the ability to stand out and have others flick to them & follow them, whilst allowing the darker natures individuals to become like social chameleons, adapting & hiding as they singlemindedly pursue whatever goals they have.. So, I believe that although the power of these positions definitely corrupts some individuals, there's also a large element of the corrupt individuals having the ability to accrue power. You'd be surprised just how many C-suite executives have identical brain functioning & both Alpha & Beta personality traits of the worst offending sociopaths(& narcissistic traits too)..

The first story is literally the opposite of everything we were taught in driving school. We were told to have all of our paperwork and ID ready by the time the officer gets to your window, and keep the window up until the officer gets to your car. They also teach you to just put your vehicle in park, nothing about turning it off or putting on hazard lights. 😮

Watched a cop cam vid the other day, new aged care worker turned up super drunk to orientation program first day and told them she had smoked meth. Hospital and then jail before morning tea, facility dodged a nightmare on staff with that one.

Story 5 really resonates with me. I had a friend and housemate just like that. He had depression admittedly, but more than that he was ALSO just lazy and slack. I tried to help him for his depression but his laziness and personal desire to be useless always got in the way. Even when I arranged things for him and all he had to do was show up on time he still couldn't even do that. He stopped taking his antidepressants, preferring to self medicate with illegal drugs and became an insufferable, lazy, liar - (I found out years later he wasn't ever paying his fair share of the house bills). My "Hate to break it to you" moment was telling him I was sick of his crap and moving out. Last time I saw him he was homeless and clearly still on the drugs. I heard through the grape vine that he eventually got taken pity upon by family and moved back in with them but never managed to get another job as he's burned all his bridges.

24:34 OMG that sounds like my mother! Back when I was in high school, my mom used to have to struggle or even outright just be lazy, and give up on trying to get my youngest brother to go to school. She could wake and get the rest of us up just fine (I'm the oldest of four boys), but it was my youngest brother that was a constant struggle for her. He'd stay up LATE AF watching Adult Swim (something no kid his age should do, but since my mom allowed herself to be controlled by him, it didn't matter), and then when it came time to wake up it was a neve-ending whining, crying, etc. of how he hated school, didn't want to go because he was tired, and all that garbage; and our mom, instead of putting her foot down and making him get up and go, she just either said "Why can't you understand you have to go to school?" like he had the option and then maybe make him get up, or she'd give up and just go back to bed with him. She FINALLY got her literal wakeup call one day from the school, telling her that if there were any further absences that they would be calling social services, and that they had never had a student miss so many days before in their history (he had lost roughly 3 or more days too, but they weren't consecutive). They had even told her exactly what she needed to hear, that was she going to allow him to continue controlling her or was she going to do the right thing and bring him to school. After that she would make him get up. Yeah, she'd still struggle to do so, because she would have to literally pull him out of bed and get him ready (no, he wouldn't bother to lift a finger, he would pretty much allow himself, like the spoiled rotten bat he was at the time, to get dragged, bathed, dragged again and get his clothes put on him from how determined he was NOT to go to school). There's a lot more to it than this, because our mom was a mentally unstable, abusive, and outright toxic human being, but that's for another time, and that goes to show you how incapable she was at actually doing what she had to.

No one is smart. Tou can gain knowlege in a subject or many subjects. But just because you know about theoretical physics or advanced chemistry, doesnt mean you know how to change a tire on a semi, and one is needed more than the other for society to be maintained.

I heard of an oil rig worker (call him Jack) who accidentally dropped his sledgehammer down the oil well. Someone had left off the well cap, Jack nearly fell in after his hammer. After a week of using a device called “The Bulldog Spear” to try and find the sledgehammer, the boss said the sledgehammer was costing the company a fortune and if they didn’t find it by the end of the day they would have to cape the well can call it a loss. Later that day, they found the sledgehammer. The foreman told the men to get back to work, but when he saw Jack take his sledgehammer from the Bulldog, he told Jack “You with the hammer, you’re fired!”. Jack merely replied “Oh, is that so!? Then I won’t be needing THIS!” as he threw his sledgehammer back down the oil well.

I think the best one was the one with the dope and the dog house.

Last one: I worked in a fulfillment center. Main client was Warner Bros.. We shipped movie posters to mom & pop rental stores for $1 each, or 'screener' copies of movies for $5. That's it! Until Gremlins came out. Warner Bros. put together a kit, complete with Gremlin doll, that shipped for $30. This required a non-standard label that we ran out of. So the manager runs to the label shop to get more, except he doesn't pick up the list from where he left off, at letter G, but starts over from letter A again. Didn't even know until we got flooded with calls asking why we sent 2? Cost the co. $300,000! This, after the owner threatened to fire me over a $30 mistake. Gee, John, did you threaten to fire Walt, "...in a New York minute?"

#25 reminded me of one: I worked in a cube farm, too, & was sat behind a guy who would practically yell into the phone, so loud I couldn't hear my caller! So I asked my supe to move me. "No, it's too hard. Cubes are assigned." So I had to deal with it. Supe is a mean guy, & yells at all his reps. I mentioned to someone, "I heard him yelling at one of his reps from over there." Lo & behold, he moves HIS cube easily! Things worked out there, though. I was still friends with the 'yeller.' I got fired for following co. procedure! I put in my unemployment app that I told the 'yeller,' who confirmed with his supv. that that was the procedure, & my unemployment got approved!

I gotta love the dream jobs with one very simple but very important rule and someone just HAS to break it.

Wearing a shirt Ton of labels is definitely a sign you aren’t as rich as you claim to be. I wouldn’t say my parents are like old money wealthy but they definitely made enough to send me and my younger sisters to private school and then to university debt free. I remember our parents making us get jobs in high school to teach us the value of a dollar. My parents don’t buy brand name clothes they buy quality clothes and have them tailored to fit their bodies perfectly.

Looking back, it wasn't really a friendship. I was just strongarmed into being friends with this classmate by her domineering mother back in middle school. Everything seemed okay until high school when I made another friend and she got insanely jealous to the point of being verbally abusive, sending me angry messages on Facebook if I "ignored" her. I didn't want to be friends with her anymore but still had to pretend, sit with her at lunch, and include her in everything. Fast forward to 10th grade, my mom is diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm a wreck. With my mom fighting the disease my priorities shifted. This "friend" and I got in an argument and she said "I don't care that your mom has cancer! Hang out with me!" I went ballistic and told her to never sit with me at lunch again. Told my mom what happened and yeah... glad this ex-friend and her mom are out of my life. Sitting alone at lunch was a billion times better than sitting with her. (On a positive note, my mom is 13 years cancer free!)

That car story happened to my Aunt and Uncle. Same rules apply in the US.

Story 30... that partner is a douche and the new guy dodged a bullet imo. Being fired for asking for COFFEE??? If this story is true, that guy is messed up and the only reason i don't say he could sue for wrongful termination is because he was THAT new at the company.
