Primerica is an MLM and all MLMs are a cult of sorts.
When I was in Community College there was this group of church-like students that were all friends and had a Campus Fellowship club. There were maybe 30-40 students in the group. I stumbled across 3 of the friends play Magic the Gathering in the student lounge and I was drawn in as I have been playing the game since 1995. We bonded over the game and they invited me to a hang out where they'd be playing games and probably eating food. I quickly accepted and man was I in for a surprise. The hang out was like 50 people in a big house near campus. Most of them all went to the same "Downtown" church or DTC for the cool kids. It seemed like everyone I talked to was pushing a recruitment agenda to their church. I am already a christian and devout progressive Methodist so I figured it would be an interesting experience at least. I went to one of the services and it stunk like cult to me. I know the bible very well and I think they were not expecting me to be as well read. The service had no hymns or choir as I'd expected. The agenda for the service was a mystery. The building was just a rented business suite that may have been a store at some point. Nearly all of the congregation was college age students like me. No families, no elderly (red flag). The preacher was the father of one of the student I came to find out. We did some Jesus worship and the band played some kind of rock music, but I couldn't make out the lyrics. The sound system was this portable amp setup that you might find at a karaoke bar. I was treated well and pleasantly enough. Afterward I learned of their doctrine. No dating without church approval, No sex or intimacy of any kind prior to marriage, The coupling expectation is that you'd become good friends with the other prior to considering a courtship. There were other rules which were common among other churches I have been to.
So, I knew they were getting the message wrong from the word as intended and the vibe was all off. The focus seemed to be on hard rules instead of just being good people. There was built in pity/hatred for other religions and it was the members' duty to save people souls and get them into the church.
This "group" they called themselves were mosy definitely a cult. I only did the one service with them because the preacher gave me the creeps. I kept hanging with the people to play Magic and I was still getting invites to some pretty good parties. They did pig roasts which are a favorite of mine. Basically, an outdoor bbq party with a lot of people doing picnic activities and the main meal was a whole pig smoked, grilled and made to delicious perfection. Sides are usually pot luck.
I hung with them until I met a girl that I was interested in dating she was a friend of a friend that went to the same community college and we bonded over games. She met the fellow cult members and got a bit weirded out by the other women. She was very much not into the christian themes and couldn't be bothered with the additional rules. When we started dating we were both excommunicated or whatever. None of the cult members so much as acknowledged us any more. It was only proof my suspicions were right. I had many philosophical debates at parties with them and I'd gotten a good idea they were cherry picking the text to fit an agenda instead of actually studying the scripture and taking time and context of the writings into consideration when determining meaning. I was able to open the eyes of a few, but after we were exiled those couple of people were the only people that still spoke to us.
I ended up marrying that girl and we just celebrated 14 years of marriage.
Former Jehovah Witness, that religion is absolutely a cult. My brother got baptized and became a full JW. Once he went against the religion and was disfellowship. This means one on in my family are allowed to contact him or have anything to do with him.
I refused to get baptized and was thrown out of my parent's house at 17. I was happy to get kicked out. Right now I'm the only one out of our immediate family that still connects my brother. I absolutely hate that religion.
Third generation born into that cult, dad in the past tried to become an elder in it. I am now a apostate and have next to zero communication with my family.
Speaking as a Christian, I hate that you all had to deal with that. I had a few family members who subscribed to that crap with some disastrous results. Shunned their daughter and she ended up self deleting. I think this was when I was a baby so I didn’t know her but it’s Just a terrible mess
When they told me I wasnt a real Trek fan if I liked the new shows.
Nintendo: I celebrated the ability to a 10 year old game for $60 and even called it a bargain.
And that’s why I pirate them and use emulators now.
Same bro same.
@@jimdob6528 arrg matie.
6:30 I don't know anyone in a MLM. Because I live in a country where they are illegal. Or at least the worst versions of them are.
I like the one that was just a 4th grader's joke that got really out of hand.
My friend was, hopefully not anymore, with Primerica and I went to one "meeting" geezus their sales pitch is crap and makes no sense if you actually think about it. But that was over 5 years ago
i was raised going to a baptist school and an evangelical church, you can imagine how well that went for my mental health. a definite moment i remember being like “this is. weird.” was in 8th grade at a church camp, and noticing that there’s a pattern to the functioning of the camps. the sermons get serious on the last couple days like a come to jesus thing and in that very last camp i went to, i just… didn’t follow along with the formula, and felt no different than if i had. it was the beginning of the end of my christian phase lol
Which is funny because I enjoyed Baptist school a lot more than Catholic.
I also grew up going to a Baptist church. Mine however was a chill church that didnt force you to do anything. Sorry you couldnt have the same chill church experience.
@@Cronomancer yeah i probs would’ve still been christian if the environment had been more chill & understanding, i’m glad you had a good experience tho ! later in life i found a really chill church & attended for a while until corona hit, it was awesome for the time i was there
@@SilveerStarr That's great! Glad you got a positive experience in the end. 😁
Nothing wrong with going back to that chill church if you ever feel the urge. Good luck to you!

So of 5 foot 2 short came up to me. So nice to meet you, shook. My hand told me that he was a nazi and expecting me to stay in that joha's witness church.
10:13 lol. And start crying :)

I only follow Joe Carroll.
the only difference between a cult and a religion is one knows how to use hush-money better.
and even thats failing them now
Proof that all religions bring only pain.
Not proof. The bible and Quran warn of false prophets and people using the religion for their own gain.
