What I love about intermittent fasting and eating carnivor is the weight loss but how I feel is better than ever. No brain fog, feel great exercising, no sugar cravings. It's easy to stick with. My blood panels are beautiful ❤️ I'm in my 60's and my energy level is high.

Wow! had an ED for most of my 20’s and was vegetarian. At 31, after 3 years of trying to get pregnant with my husband, a fertility specialist told me I’d never get pregnant on my own. I started eating meat and drinking whole organic milk and got pregnant two months later… without assistance. I never made the connection! Great podcast!

Oh, yes! I just took up a plant-based diet a little over a month ago, so I was psyched to see this pop up on my home screen! I will first say I feel better, I'm getting way more variety of vitamins than I have my whole life, and have experienced quite some positive body changes, including my mental health, to make a long story short. I do want to make clear that a plant-based or vegan diet is NOT the same thing as veganISM. The movement is is a whole other thing in itself and I am NOT on board with all that. Some things they might have some good thoughts on, but as a whole, nope nope nope. But yes, I am so glad you are talking about this! It's been soooooo hard to find Christians who eat plant-based. I also found that there are so few resources out there when it comes to research on the biblical perspective of it. And I've even seen the story from Acts 10 used to defend that all food is clean, which is a terrible interpretation of that story. If you keep reading, Peter explains the meaning of the vision he had in Acts 10. It wasn't about food at all. Lol, but thank you for this episode! I'm clicking play now!

@amandabutt14 I do wish there were more vegan dieters within the Christian community. It IS hard to find others! Also, I watched the podcast after I posted this comment. I had a lot I needed to respond with, though. So, I left a new comment in the thread. Mainly because I felt the title was misleading as to what the conversation really ended up being about. Also, there was a lot of misinformation being put out there as to what a vegan diet is. I really thought she was bringing on a Christian vegan who was able to bring to the table what Scripture had to say as a whole regarding plant-based eating. Scripture says A LOT! But instead of a deep dive into Gen 9, for instance, Chelsea completely just used that one verse as a blanket statement to say God gave us animals to eat in addition to plants. I'm autistic, so when I first started this plant-based journey a month ago, my question was why did God add animals to begin with. But long story short, all vegetation had been destroyed in the flood. God still allowed for meat to remain an option we could add to our diet, but His original design was plants. It started that way, not just with us, but also with animals, and it's going to return that way. Scripture strongly suggests all of this. It's very fascinating to see the deeper we dig into God's word! So, yeah. I left a comment for Allie to plead our case more accurately. I'm just really sad that our diet as well as what Scripture teaches got set off to the back burner and what was talked about was from the shallow end of the pool.

I could not watch past 16 minutes of the episode it was def misleading I thought she was a Christian vegan as well, but when she kept referring to Gen 9 was rough. It should be obvious that Gen 9 is after the fall and Gen 1 is what God intended.

I just celebrated my 27th vegan anniversary yesterday. I am now 51 and enjoy excellent health, praise be to God. I am also pro-life, Christian, and conservative. Vegan isn't just a diet, it is a way to minimize harm to animals. That was why I stopped eating meat back in 1997. I think we all (especially as Christians) should strive to not be judgmental and presumptive about others. With regard to whether or not veganism is biblical, we know that God made an allowance for people to eat animals after the flood. We also know God's original design was that humans should eat seed-bearing plants, (Genesis 1:29). We also understand that God calls us to be good stewards of His creation and we know that in eternity, (Isaiah 11:6-9), "they will not hurt nor destroy on all my holy mountain". I love my friends and family who eat meat as much as I love my vegan friends and family. Peace to everyone.

@AngieW-ri6qx and how did Peter respond when God was testing him (Acts 10:13), saying "arise, kill, and eat"? Let's look at that passage in its entire context, shall we? I promise, I won't cherry pick. We see Peter going to the roof to pray and he falls asleep. He has a vision of a sheet of animals descending from the sky. The animals on the sheet are the ones that were considered unclean according to Jewish law. Then Peter hears God's voice instructing him to kill and eat the animals but Peter REFUSES on account of seeing the animals as unclean. But was this passage in Acts really about eating animals or that God doesn't see anybody as unclean and that salvation is not only for Jews but also Gentiles? In fact, later in the book of Acts, the vision becomes clear to Peter when he visits Cornelius (a Gentile, and rememeber Jews were forbidden to eat with Gentiles because Gentiles were seen as unclean) and explalins the vision within the text: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean” (Acts 10:28). So, you can accuse me of cherry picking all you want, but I would humbly suggest if you do so, you go to Scripture and read the entire context yourself. And by the way, I am well aware as I stated in my original post that God did in fact make "allowances" for man to eat animals, but whether or not that is God's ideal plan, judging from how things were set up in the beginning and what God has in store for us in eternity, I would venture to say, probably not. I'm only guessing here, I could be wrong, but then again, so could you. God bless.

But you can get it from fortified foods, which most people get it that way anyway. Even the cows we eat don't produce B12 because of the lack of cobalt in the soil now. The only reason animals have B12 is because we supplement them, then eat them. So either way, we supplement. But technically you can get B12 from plants, if you eat duckweed. I am a meat eater for sure and I notice when I dont get enough protein my blood sugar and hormones seeem to get out of whack. We primarily eat deer meat and rarely buy chicken or beef from the store. My husband and I harvest deer during the season enough to last until the next. Deer meat is very lean, and all we do is pair it with veggies for a healthy protein rich meal.

The Bible didn’t introduce meat eating until after Adam and Eve sinned. Once it was introduced it became acceptable; however, the torture inflicted upon animals in factory farms does not seem to be something that God would sanction. The treatment of workers in factory farms is also deplorable. And the antibiotics injected into animals does not seem to be conducive to health.

Totally agree with you! There is that fact, that eating meat didn't happen until after Adam sinned.
There is also the fact that Daniel and his friends ate vegetables instead of meat, and were the healthiest ones in the palace.
But what I dislike most of all, is when people seem to associate Christianity with eating meat; it leaves a huge taste as tho the God of Christianity cares less about animals.
Why would I want to embrace that kind of God?

@@alethiacharis2480You should continue to think about that. If you read Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy… carefully you will understand that the Bible says God required so many animal sacrifices daily. One reason they had the priests was because animal sacrifices was a full time job-they did it all day. Short answer, sin resulted in an imperfect world that requires less than perfect solutions. Sin has a penalty-it is a very serious thing to God. The sacrifices were a daily reminder that this animal should have been me. But even that reminder wasn’t enough. Jesus had to die. Things won’t be perfect till He takes us home. The ground is severely lacking in nutrients. That wouldn’t have been the case in the Garden of Eden. Just as animal sacrifices were a provision from God, we can humbly see them as a provision today.

One doesn’t have to buy conventional meat. You can buy organic grass fed/ free range meat. You can even buy from local farmers. Eating meat doesn’t have to mean growth hormones, antibiotics, and inhumane treatment.

You should support regenerative farms then. Watch Joel Saladin being interviewed on his farm. He’s a Christian who shows how beautiful the life is for the animals on his farm- the hogs, the cows, the sheep, the chickens- they all have a purpose and work together to enrich the soil and bring it back since it is being stripped by monocrop culture. These animals have beautiful idyllic lives full of purpose and then they have a second of pain before the end, and they nourish our bodies with the best protein possible for us to flourish.

I loved the balanced approach from both ladies! Most of this info is exactly what I’ve gathered from learning about nutrition “on my own”. I definitely got help from the info about sitting down to eat. That’s such a common struggle for anyone with young children or a fast paced life.
A tiny perspective from personal experience is that I truly believe I benefited from a brief time period of eating smaller meals. I was extremely malnourished from an auto immune disease and read that it could help healing and it definitely seemed to benefit me sustaining energy. But like she said, there’s a time and place for “extreme” diets. :) I know some folks with food sensitivities that used a strict gluten, dairy, sugar, etc free diet just to heal and then built back up. Great interview!

      Agriculture is way worse sadly
Look up Rodenticides that is just ONE thing used to kill small animals just to protect crops and its a horrid death for them and their babies
and when you see what agriculture does to animals that is heart breaking to poison them to death
Go to a mono crop farm and notice NOTHING is alive all the insects all the birds all the rodents all dead to save the crops all the way up to larger animals
Also many other animals then eat the poisoned ones and die
      I
So do not fall for the my side is ethical and nothing dies its all natural its not even close
Not saying to stop what makes you happy and you feel is good for you but open the eyes and see the truth to it is all :)

Got really sick and nearly died. On the other hand, I have a good friend who used to get really sick when she ate meat. Veganism works well for her, and being an omnivore works for me. We respect each other's choices and unique situations. After the fall, humans became mortal. We became subject to sickness and death as our body chemistry most likely changed. Taking care of our bodies with good nutrition and movement is so important so we can show up to love and serve others well! Wowzer...reading some of the comments it is apparent people are really passionate about their diets, I even sense some idolatry in the means of eating expressed in the comments, food/appearance has definitely been an idol in my life...reading some of the comments under this podcast I am thinking, hmmm if we as the body of Christ were as passionate about loving each other more than our food ideologies and about sharing the good news of Jesus with a lost and dying world imagine that...Scripture teaches our ways of eating do not save us, they do not make us more holy or acceptable to God, food rules do not conquer our sinful flesh...only the righteousness of Christ in exchange for our sin, which He alone accomplished for us on the cross, makes us acceptable and He alone gives us our identity, not our "food camps"...the Kingdom of God is not eating or drinking but righteousness, joy and peace in the Spirit, this coming from within and toward others...bottom line feeding on God's Word, prayer, being willing to repent of our lack of love for Him and others, and asking Him for strength and wisdom in every area of life, even how we eat, to live in ways that will honor and glorify Christ is the most important thing...first and most spiritually nourish yourself with the Bible, seek His guidance and live for Him, not how you eat.

It's interesting to watch this and read the comments on this video as an Orthodox Christian. On the one hand, seeing evangelical Protestants talk about the intersection of our eating habits and our faith gets me optimistic that they'll slowly but surely turn to the one true church. But when I see so much of the discussion revolve around trendy, secular or New Age diets like veganism or gluten free, or when I see a lot of misguided attempts to emulate Old Testament dietary laws, I'm reminded to temper my expectations.

True but if you look at life expectancy (if you care about living a LONG and healthy life -our ancestors did not have a long life) there is a lot of data that supports the less animal products you eat one lives longer and healthier. Now granted, the lifestyle our ancestors endured was much different than ours and had many more mitigating circumstances, that can't be completely blamed on diet. The point is that is not a great resource or argument to use to support high animal intake. I think the KEY take away is the fat carb ratio!!

@philw9120 you are correct that humans have done lots of bad things to alter our food supply. Especially when animals of today are kept in tight quarters, fed grains & other “foods” to fatten them (not grass for cows) given hormones to make them grow faster, until they are so fat they collapse bc their legs can’t hold them up, antibiotics, vaccines, etc to keep them alive under the terrible conditions etc. they are a prime source of saturated fat & cholesterol (heart disease is our #1 killer) and have zero fiber. And the toxins in their muscles accumulate & are concentrated in the muscle tissues we eat. The worst food adulteration may be all the highly processed “food like substances” we now eat with little to no nutrition or fiber (i.e. chips, cookies, pizza, etc.) whole, organic plants foods may be our best options for human consumption. But, I don’t know. It’s just what worked for me to loose 100lb, lower my cholesterol & blood pressure to healthy levels while feeling much better in my body & my energy levels. I also got off antidepressants. Certainly, we are far removed from Eden at this point.

I love thay she brought up the fact that we need to let our digestive system rest. I started doing this and it really helped with my sleep and Ulcerative colitis. However she uses a lot of vague recommendations like "eat with the sun". For the Isrealites this was ideal because of where they're located along the equator. That doesn't work for those of us that live in the Nordics where the sun is out for 22 hours in the summer and 4 hours in the winter. This where I think she is "thinking biblicallly" in ways it really wasn't meant to. We can't all live out our day the way the isrealites did because we don't live in thay climate, have the same amount of daylight hours, and so forth.
I also find it odd that she used the example of 3 cups of quinoa to 3 oz of meat and saying "which sounds easier"? Quinoa while having a decent amount of plant based protein, isn't the only one. By mixing grains and legumes you get all of the essential amio acids and by eating a varied diet throughout your day a person easily gets enough protien. For example a smoothie or yogurt with nuts and seeds thrown in. At lunch a bowl with rice or quinoa, beans, and a mixture of veggies. At dinner having again some kind of stew with lentils, a mixture of vegetables, served with rice and a salad. Eating plant based simply means pulling from differnet protein sources with every meal instead of relying on that main serving at lunch or dinner. Its really not as complicated as she makes it sound.
But now to a biblical based point. I think something to be aware of is that simply because God allows something does not equate we must do that thing. God does allow for the consumption of meat however that doesn't mean that we therefore must eat meat. I believe a person can be healthy eating meat in small amounts but more and more studies show that the standard western diet relyig heavily on dairy, meat and eggs is making our bodies sick. We need to eat a varied diet rich in grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables as well. Just my thoughts

I think going carnivore can be a great elimination diet, done for anywhere from 2-6 months, maybe longer if your body needs more healing. Even veganism might be a good elimination diet for some people. But I’ve always thought that God made plants for us to eat and also gave us animals. I have several digestive issues and probably have some undiagnosed autoimmune problems too and I really notice what my body feels like when I eat certain things. I feel better eating less sugar and sweets, no gluten, little to no grains, fewer vegetables, more high quality protein and more animal fats. Becoming aware that I was and still am addicted to certain things like sugar and grains has been a struggle.
