Allowing players to effectively choose their idols and relive their nostalgia was one of the best decisions possible. And the expansion campaigns trailer is SO chilling for splatoon. I love that splatoon NEVER cheaps out on supplying for their fans

I find it hilarious that splatoon can switch from the bustling city with everyone having a good time vibe to the silence and mysterious vibe in a couple of seconds. Makes me love this series even more.
I agree! Kinda like with Big Run, everything is fine with music playing in the background, then the music is no longer playing, you can only hear your footsteps and other small noises, and the orange red sky adds to the feeling that something’s wrong. I love it!

The side order teaser gives me full body chills every single time I watch it- without fail. Art direction and music composition seem out of this world. As for the content of the dlc, I feel like introducing a new octoling is a weird call, and considering the hairstyle this is probably still Agent 8- just rediscovering her memories through some unforeseen means and on the way we learn more about Marinas backstory and her history with Pearl + ofc learning about the octoling cloning process/sanitation and their militaristic society as a whole. I really hope that as the reward for completing the dlc we can travel to Inkopolis Square, therefore giving us access to all 3 lobbies.
That all being said, I am so unbelievably excited for what's to come

2 was my first Splatoon game. And the same love and nostalgia the first game’s players have for the Squid Sisters and the Plaza is what I have for Off The Hook and the Square.
If Side Order postgame allows us all to listen to Color Pulse during Splatfests AND see Pearl and Marina I think I would be over the moon with joy!!!!!

Your not really missing much tbh. Inkopolis Plaza was pretty small compared to Splatoon 2's Inkopolis Square, and like 10% of the size of Splatoon 3's Splatsville. What you see in the thumbnail really is the entire hub area

I really like how the DLCs are community-based, Old players can experience Inkopolis again (in Splatoon 3) and people who voted for Order can finally see what the outcome would have been.

I don't think this would have been what Splatoon 3's story mode would have looked like if Order one. They would have done the Mr Grizz story either way.
Wave 2 definitely seems like it’s about the past and memories, involving pearl, marina, and agent 8. I don’t actually think that’s what inkopolis square currently looks like but what it used to look like with a mix of of it looks like currently. Can’t wait to see what deep lore is in store for us!

As someone who did start with the original game on the Wii U, seeing Inkopolis again hit me with more nostalgia than I thought.
Octo Expansion was such a great expansion for Splatoon 2 that I have high hopes for Side Order, the atmosphere alone looks like it’ll be something I’ll really enjoy.

Well I was dying to see Splat 1 come back in some way for the future although this was different from a direct port, but you know what? Take my money cuz I’m sold for this.
as someone who’s been around since the beginning of splatoon 1, i recognized the og plaza in a literal millisecond and got goosebumps all over, this made me tear up i’m so happy to see my girls perform again :)

It really doesn't do anything for me. It's just the first plaza with nothing extra. You can't really do anything there what you can't do in the current plaza. Do you have to pay for this? If so, I'm not buying it.
I screamed when I saw the original plaza. As someone who was introduced to Splatoon from the very first game in 2016, this is single-handedly the BEST addition to this game. So much nostalgia and the music from the first time you enter Splatoon 1 was amazing

The side order dlc looks to be a mental facility or some deep dive into someone's mind. The whole atmosphere is uncanny and unusual, almost like its a simulation or fabricated. This looks really cool and i cant wait for it to release

This seems like a fitting "finale farewell" to the Wii U. And the new campaign looks like more of that chaotic, spooky worldbuilding that I love about the "Octo Expansion" back in the previous entry
Fun fact I noticed: Deca Tower, which previously had signs placed haphazardly and chaotically around the body of the building, now has every sign facing forward and straight upright, in an orderly fashion. Also the two deity statues don't have their collar/necklaces anymore, the side screen is cracked or wrinkled, the power lines are now straight and symmetrical instead of stretching across the square, and most of the shop doors, including the Deca Tower entrance, have more orderly, regulated doors with less personality.

And the reason why it looks dead and deserted is because Team Chaos won. Meaning, nobody wants to visit the losing city who vied for Order. There’s no life in a city left abandoned.

I love the double meaning behind calling Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass "Side Order": "Side Order" as in "a side order of fries", fitting with the franchise's overall food theme, and "Side Order" as in "what would've happened if Team Order won Spaltoon 2's Final Splatfest".
Oh my god…… You might just be on to something. I played on Team Order during the Final Splatfest, and I remember the free clothing items like these “Hivemind Glasses”. This looks definitely like a what-if scenario.
Or maybe it's what Inkopolis Square actually looks like now.

The song that plays while loading the game will literally make me cry remembering how good it was to be a kid during the summer in 2015. Marie was and will always be my favorite.
Hearing the new city of color literally got tears out of me- I never got to experience splatoon one but I adore its vibes, and being able to finally be at a squid sisters performance after listening to their songs way too many times makes me so so so so happy

1 year later, a detail that i just noticed is, that once VeroniKa goes to Inkopolis, her clothes change from Splatoon 3 default clothes, to the Splatoon default clothes! That's a cool and cute detail!

Things I noticed from the Side Order part: (Yes, I looked at each individual frame)
-Features an octoling girl a lot. It may be Agent 8 since she uses the old hairstyle.
-THAT CITY IS INKOPOLIS SQUARE. What could've happened to it and the idols? Maybe everyone abandoned it for the Splatlands?
-There is a frame of the octogirl in fighting stance with what looks like new weapons.
-Shows Pearl waking you up? You can see Inkopolis behind her.
-They never show Marina in her new outfit, just Pearl. The only frame she appears in she is wearing her normal outfit, but has blue hair now.
-They show a 2nd person with the octogirl a lot, but only their shoes/legs. Their shadow has sharp inkling ears.
-Picture of a fossil or some ancient animal's skeleton with red glowing eyes.
-The new area the octogirl explores has a lot of corals. Not normal ones, but DEAD ones (cuz they're white). Inkopolis Square is covered with them too.
What else did you guys notice?
i think...the octoling girl is infact marina.
I noticed another octoling with white hair walking with the one with brown hair in one of the flashing sequences
What I got out of this is that its Marina's backstory and Inkopolis Square looks so white because its a memory or something
There was a one that had multiple octoling girls and in front of one of them one had darker skin maybe that’s marina
in a shot with what seems to be an elevator, there is ink seen flowing out from below it, implying something happened in there 2:40
there seems to be black goop in several parts of the side order trailer, but also some red stuff that almost looks like blood 2:42
and right when the weird black ambiguous thing pops up at 2:43 the music changes, immediately next shot is the octoling on the floor, do you think we can decipher the background in that shot?
shortly after that shot, we see TWO octolings, with some ink colour/skin tone difference but otherwise exactly the same, is there some.. cloning going on?

The amount of joy from seeing Inkopolis Plaza was ENORMOUS!

The amount of nostalgia flowing thru my body soon as I seen 1 and 2 of splatoon
I screamed when I saw Spyke!!! I’m so happy to have him back as a vendor, and he looks even cooler than he did in the first game! and HOLY MOLY, Side Order looks so frickin’ amazing!!! :D
What an unexpected update. The return of Inkopolis fills me with Splatoon 1 nostalgia. The Side Orders mode is also gonna be a good one and I can't wait to play.

It's a real shame they replaced the Battle Dojo with the Shoal. Split-screen single system multiplayer is something that MUST return!

I wasn’t ready to sob like a baby during the direct today. I played splatoon 1 so much when I was 10 and it feels like I’ve “grown up” alongside the franchise.
Oh my god, I totally screamed in excitement when I saw this in the Nintendo Direct! I'm super hyped for this new Expansion Pass in Splatoon 3! Seeing Inkopolis from Splatoon 1 sure was a very big surprise in the Nintendo Direct! This new Expansion Pass is gonna be Splat-tastic!

I mean, I wouldn't say anything about 2 yet. We know literally nothing except for some hints about it possibly dealing with pearl & marina. It's just meant to be a teaser.

The first one k don't like bc idk it makes me feel jealous...like i was there since splatoon 1 and i got to see it when it happened and now idk why but i feel weird that all the non veterans get to see it it makes me feel like the biggest thing in the last eight years of my life weren't worth it but watch wave two 0.25 speed it seems like a dedf1sh track playing and u can see the pictures of the octoling it is disturbing and looks lore-ful so me personally can't wait for it and am pre ordering the second i can

nintendo i love you i’m genuinely crying right now you have no idea how much happiness you give us fellow splatoon players
Some important things to point out:
1) The manhole to Octo Valley is blocked by bags/rubble
2) The Squid Jump machine has tape around and a bag over it, implying it's out of order
3) The Battle Dojo is now The Shoal
4) There doesn't appear to be an equivalent of Hotlantis, but there is an equivalent of Grizzco and a Tableturf Table
5) There are only Inklings in the Plaza, no Octolings
6) The third Splatfest Team if in Inkopolis appears to be represented by The Great Zapfish? Inkopolis Tower???
And for Wave 2, the location is based on Inkopolis Square from Splatoon 2 but an underwater bleached coral version of it

I’m so hyped to finally see Inkopolis and the Sisters again, and experience part of the franchise I never got to- the original Splatfests with the girls
On the other hand, however, I’m absolutely terrified of what happened to OtH and Eight… right now I can only pray for their safety and hope Eight’s gonna be alright. The world looks depressing… maybe we’re in Eight’s mind? Possibly after something traumatic happened? Like… dare I say, something happened Pearl and Marina 😟

I believe that if order really did win the splatfest, this wouldn’t have been the outcome. I feel it would instead be more like a world of safety and acceptance and then a chaos dlc to be absolute anarchy.

As long as Side Order is a real story I'll be happy. Inkopolis Plaza hardly feels like it's worth being called DLC, but I will play the HECK out of another octoling story mode

Update: Dataminers have confirmed that Side Order has been delayed a bit and will most likely release some time in S7 (Fresh Season 2024). Given the apocalyptic winter-y feel of the DLC, expect it to come out no later than March!

I like the concept of being able to visit both places I just hope we get to see some of Off the Hook performing like at splatfests. I don't think that will happen but fingers crossed 🤞🤞
Also I wonder if the idols tied to your location (splatsville and deep cut; squid sisters and inkopolis) will sing during the actual match
@@aSOLANGELOguy In the second game, completing the DLC’s story allowed you to play an Octoling, which unlocked some extra musics while playing pvp matches. So I am pretty positive on the odds for a similar concept to happen depending on which hall you entered.

I started with Splatoon from day 1, I watched any new information that came out on it, played the global testfire for 6 hours straight, and played the first game extensively…Splatoon 2 came out, played the testfire for that, game came out and I played it through its entire life cycle…Now im here playing Splatoon 3 loving every moment of it and Nintendo is letting me relive my first steps with the series again…I couldn’t be happier.
