The thing I’m happiest about from this are the minor changes for the sake of convenience. For example I find the ability to set gear loadouts incredibly important. Also, the ability to use the training room while waiting for a match is really significant. All of it was very interesting.
For someone who played semi profesionally yes, I totally agree lol it was sooo annoying to change everything whenever I had to swap a weapon or having to log half an hour before a match started to warm up and then just sit in the lobby for like 10 minutes waiting for everyone

I really like how they made the salmon run boss fight feel like an actual emergency, like you don’t know that it’s coming until the siren starts blaring, pretty awesome.
i dont mind it, but i rather just finish the run and win. i hope it doesnt get annoying say a 10% chance of happening. I hope we get a ticket that let's us pick any ability we want for our gear.
For those who didn’t notice, the store manager for the locker items is Harmony, a character that has actually been somewhat present before in the series. She’s part of the musical band known as Chirpy Chips that plays all sorts of battle music in Splatoon 2. If you look it up, she’s right there on the album cover!
I love how Splatsvile feels so alive, seeing the Inkling and Octoling playing Rock Paper Scissors and reacting to their win or loss might be the best thing they’ve shown.
I know this will get overlooked, but I really wanna give props to the announcer, she did a fantastic job and put so much energy into the announcement, it honestly made me pretty hyped
I know, she was awesome! As someone going into some voice acting work, that was the first thing I noticed about this presentation, and thought about it several times throughout. Love it when gaming companies get announcers like that for news and such
My best guess is that it's Cassandra Lee Morris! She's the voice of Morgana in Persona 5, and it kinda felt like her voice shifted into that character at times in the video
The reporter did a superb job explaining the entire game, one part at a time. Whether she explains the stages, characters, and weapons for example, she had a truckload of energy to give out and made the Direct so much fun to watch, even if it's half an hour long!

FINALLY, A GAME MODE WITH MORE THAN 2 TEAMS! Entire direct was amazing, and props to the announcer. But it's something I've been asking for for ages! I'd love to see a 4 team turf war become a thing. 2v2v2v2, spawning at 4 corners of different maps or maybe all close ish to the middle and able to then reach the further ends.
Literally all I want is to be able to invite my friend and queue up for normal games. It sounds like the Ghosts thing is a decent fix for that. I remember splatoon 2 making you sit there and hope someone leaves your friend's match to make room for you to play, and then you'd often end up on opposite teams. I looooove splatoon, but playing with friends casually has always been handled like it's some new concept xD
whoever this announcer was definitely needs a raise. everything was so easily digestible, and i’m glad new players can find their way even easier! she sounded so energetic, intrigued, and passionate overall. this 30 minute direct was beautifully executed!
Words cannot express the joy I feel in seeing Harmony finally making her onscreen debut after her indirect presence in both previous games and both King for a Day tournaments. Blitz It!/Chip Attack is still the best song in the series.
The announcer here and on the direct is so good. She sounds so energetic and passionate and it fits the game really well and gets me excited to play even more. I am so unbelievably hyped up for this game omg I’ve been a fan of Splatoon one but I didn’t get a hold of the game until Splatoon 2 cause I was poor lol I legit can’t wait to play this every day.
This seems like a gigantic game already and more stuff it's on the way, they hype is real, it just looks like the most perfect splatoon game, so much thank you to the developers and staff behind it! I love how the splatoon colour themes are based on complimentary colours (opposite colours), for example… Splatoon 1 - orange and blue Splatoon 2 - pink a green Splatoon 3 - yellow and purple Some of the colours are slight variations such as pink, it’s meant to be red but pinks a good substitute
splatoon 2 and 3 seem to have color themes based on the last splatfest of the previous game since 1 ended w callie vs marie(pink and green) and 2 ended with chaos vs order(yellow and blue-purple) its kind of like how the last splatfest affects the next game since we spend more time with marie in 2 and there's a chaotic city/tone to 3
The idols seem to be more traditional than our previous idols and I love how they showed how diverse inklings and octolings can look, with their different styled eyes and faces. It's just incredible to be honest. I've a feeling this game is going to be one of the best of 2022 (YALL STOP FIGHTING IN THE REPLIES WE GET IT, FRYE HAS A BIG FOREHEAD SHE CUTE

how is this all out. No new lobby modes and the same ranked modes and it took 5 years. And they are still doing free updates. This looks the exact same. All the new things they announced are going to last a month at best and then get boring.
I was already excited for this game, but after seeing the Direct, I’m absolutely blown away. The devs truly outdid themselves with this - it’s so clear that so much work and creativity has gone into this game! I can’t wait to play! :D

The games one year anniversary is in 10 days, and it’s so nostalgic watching this again. I remember waking up real early and being mind blown with the stuff they added. I miss those times.
This has to be the best direct Splatoon has ever done. So many new things and they all look so amazing, can’t wait to try them out. The story mode being a finale though, I wish it didn’t end. Unless they have more stories to tell in the future

if it's the end meaning that the inklings and octarians are no longer at each others throats, and final see things from the others perspective, then I'm fine with that. If it's the end meaning the octarians get defeated once and for all and all get imprisoned, then I'm not happy with that
While I personally would have preferred players to have their own room to place stuff in, player owned lockers are a neat idea. It's really cool to see a game have proper sequels where they keep the good stuff and then add onto the game in their own way.
I find the idea of lockers better than apartments tbh, apartments would be too much of a big feature, and might make some people look at it as the core gameplay of splatoon imo.
The announcer featured in this Direct really sold every section, loved how much energy they brought to the narration. From returning Splatoon 1 stages, to Salmon Run becoming more intense, new idols, Splatfest premiere and the tease of story mode being a splatastic saga (with larger scale DLC on the rise) we’re truly in for a RIDE.
on the first watch i didn't like her voice too much but on rewatch i thought it was really fun! especially on the salmon run part, some people may call it "cringey" but that's the most lively ive ever heard an announcer be during a direct

BIG MAN GANG!!!!! I love how different a vibe these idols give off, the Squid sisters had a very serious and very energetic combo, Off the Hook had a chaotic and calm combo, and this new trio seems to mix it up. The game looks amazing, with returning favorites, and new side ideas such as the locker and a tcg X ttg looks super interesting, cant wait to jump right in!
Splatoon was always something I was kinda interested in, but not enough to get. But Splatoon 3 has had me getting progressively more and more excited about it! And the customization/diversity is so good! A game where I can finally make someone that genuinely looks like me and it makes me so happy! It's such a small part of this game, but it's so amazing!
The series caught my attention when 2 came out, but I didn't own a Switch back then. This will be the first Splatoon game I'll actually play for myself and I'm really excited. This and Sparks of Hope are my most hyped games of this year.

I think my favorite detail from the direct is the fact that Captain Agent 3 still seems to have the ability to launch specials whenever, as shown at 20:31, when they flash yellow, and the top of their head shines.
I’ve never played any of the Splatoon games but the world of Splatoon looks so creative and interesting. From the character designs to the lore. Love it.

I loved everything about this! Smiled all the way through. So much to take in, and I love it. It's a whole colorful explosion of chaos. And the new idols, they'll grow on us overtime, but I already love them (I'm a pretty big fan of Shiver so far). I'm still happy to see the previous idols still in here too. This is going to be a blast. I hope newcomers give this series a chance.

@@pixelpatch Local splitscreen isn't really feasible for Splatoon. Possible, but it'd be really clunky & limited in functionality. (Splatoon 1 had a 1v1 gamemode where one person used the TV and the other used the GamePad, but it was a simple balloon battle game with limited weapon and stage selections.) You can still use The Shoal for local multiplayer with multiple Switches, but still nothing for using a single Switch, unfortunately. It'd be cool if there was a Download Play functionality with limited multiplayer from one copy like the DS had...
It's crazy to see how far Splatoon has come. It was my favorite game back when I was a kid and now here I am almost finished with High School. I'm so happy it's still going strong and I can't wait to buy Splatoon 3 :D

I'm starting up my senior year now, and oh boy it's been a ride. From my young days playing Mario Kart Wii and Smash Brawl, beating Taboo for the first time, to now, about to play the third game in a series of great online multi-player games by Nintendo, life is crazy man.
It brings tears to my eyes how much Splatoon has grown over the years. I’ve been a really big Splatoon fan since the beginning of Splatoon 1 (feels like it’s been yesterday) and now here we are, about to play the 3rd Splatoon game. This direct was incredible and I’m really hyped up for this game! I can’t wait to finally play this!!

I love the change to rainmaker. It's no longer a "your opponent has 97 points, try to get to 98 or higher." Instead you have to reach certain checkpoints and then the rainmaker's shield has to be broken again. Solid Change.

yeah, this also prevents rainmaker wins within 10 seconds - I remember one occassion I rushed the rainmaker, splat half the team, and before the other two enemies even knew what was happening, I made it to the podium. I've even been on the receiving end of a win like that lol, so definitely a nice change
The amount of QoL and polish put a smile on my face during this entire Direct. I was lukewarm on the game before. Mostly because my old crew quit Splatoon 2 so long ago, but this is likely going to cause everyone to come back for at least a few years. I was never competitive, but a few of the crew were. There appear to be some nice QoL changes for the competitive scene as well!

Well, what's there for casuals or solo only players (not counting the lackluster story mode)? I'm just assuming it's lackluster (to be fair) because they barely showed anything about it and all the attention/effort seems to just be Online features/modes. I'm genuinely curious since I'm interested in this game and MIGHT get it IF it has single-player / solo modes and content.
The expressions of the characters are perfect and everything looks so lively like the inklings have actually remade civilisation but no humans. Nintendo doesn't just cease to be awful. They don't know how to!

I’m honestly really impressed by how in-depth the world seems, the new stylised maps, the new salmon run, and all the other little details. I expected for this to be a complete copy of the last splatoon but Nintendo have really went above and beyond, it feels like they have listened to the fans and have worked really hard to make a very good game. The fact that they will be supporting the game with tons of new updates after launch is incredible and the tournaments are such a great idea to get people interested in playing the game. This will definitely be the best splatoon yet!!!
Uhhhh… we looking at the same game? U must have skipped splatoon 2, because honestly it looks fun… but it doesn’t look like they are bringing much new to the table in this game. Only two new weapons? They re-used a bunch of old stages, I only saw a few new moves. Honestly looks more like an update to splatoon 2, with the exception of the fact the campaign worlds appear bigger.
This whole thing has me so excited, especially the three way splatfests. It's also nice that we got some form of customization outside of Inklings and Octolings. The new weapons look so cool as well.

This looks SO MUCH better than when I first saw it. They're definently changing things up for this. I'm hoping more Ultimates from the first game come back in an update, bit if not, oh well. I really like this take on the hosts this time around too. This feels different, but also natural. Really excited to see how splatfests truly play out too. But yeah. This is really cool.
It looks like only the specials listed in this direct are coming back, but between those, the newly announced ones, and the other new ones mentioned earlier, this game has the most specials ever featured, 15, and we're only a launch! S2 Added specials during its lifetime like Ultra Stamp and still didn't have as many at the end.

I could tell they wanted to go with a more creatively unusual and exotic asymmetrical look for the new idols, and I'd say they nailed that pretty well.
I am so hyped for this game. New weapons, returning stages, new mechanics, and so much more. There is just so much to take in, and it's amazing. This direct really made the game look less like splatoon 2, and it's going to be very hard to play splatoon 2 after this.
I only ever played Splatoon 1 a couple of times on my brothers Wii U when the game just released, didn’t really think much of it. Then I started playing Overwatch a year later and I didn’t play much else for about 4 years. Really got me hooked on tactical team shooters, so seeing a variety of support and defensive abilities (support main btw) made me order this game immediately so I can get sucked into another addiction for the next couple of years
I am a big Overwatch player too. Off-support, flex player, 4.4k support. I literally bought a Wii U despite knowing it was dying since I loved Splatoon 1 so much. I walked to my friend's house every day to play Splatoon on the Wii U during the test betas and when it first came out. Don't regret it one bit it's one of my favorite games. It's a lot less strategic than Overwatch and there isn't nearly as much of a community/social aspect around Splatoon but it makes up in how fun it is. Do recommend. I’ll always love splatoon. They never take away things that people have always liked and instead they either make it better or add on things we’ve wanted. I’m just really obsessed because I’ve always loved this game since I was little :)

Yeah theyre still working on the game and like things like lighting etc usually get put in last after all the base game code is up and running 👍 so i suspect it’ll look better at release fo sure
I have no idea what it is this time around. But the animations for splatoon seem way more natural and fluid. Good to see splatoon 3 continue to get better and more and more hype with time.

Where are new modes, or maybe the option to customize a weapons secondary and special like clothes are. lockers are cool and the card game seems fun. how come the triple battles will be splatfest only. i have played many other shooters since splatoon and this game lacks options. why change the name of ranked, why cant i play ranked modes unranked. i cant know for sure, but halo infinte is probably going to be better than this because at least i can play a ton of different modes.
@@downin8741 that was also In my wishlist; new modes (other than the turf war table game and salmon run). Specifically, I didn’t want new tanked modes since the four that we have are already a lot for battles that are competitive. I was looking for more casual modes like hide and seek or team with most kills wins, or just have the ranked modes as casual as you said. But man there is just so much stuff already coming out on launch that I feel greatly outweighs much of the nitpicks, and that it will be continuously updated for a long time (which hopefully will resolve the problems) that I just feel that this game is worth the money if not more.
First game launched with 5 maps, the second had 8, now this launches with 12. That's impressive. Very interesting replay feature, I see what they're doing with it, and it looks great.

the anarchy battle (open) doesn't seem to affect your rank, you can't rank up (and supposedly can't go down), so you can also play ranked modes without the stress, it seems like. check the splatoon website they set up to check the details in the ranking system section if you want ^^

Deep Cut is amazing and the traditional music is cool!! Shiver looks beautiful, Frye looks so cute and Big Man is cute too! Hopefully we’ll be waiting to play when it comes out! I love this big change in Splatoon 3
Watching this for the 5th time. I love the part they hit "this way" on the inkling girl and she does the "this way" motion with the hand. The voice is so cool. I love this game so much.

@@Kyoshirou_ for me, there really isn't enough new content. for example look at the mario kart series. every game has something special and looks completely different and that's what a new game should be like for me. not completely different in gameplay, but creative and with original new content. and thats what splatoon 3 just doesn't have.
I am going crazy with all of this, the returning maps, new weapons, music, story stuff, card game?! As well as some nice quality of life stuff, like full stage recon and saving battles, Nintendo is really outdoing itself with this one, and I can’t wait to try it out. LETS GOOOOO 🤟🤟
I was genuinely afraid, I thought the game would be identical to the second, or even worse! But this Direct definitely made me change my mind! There are crazy news, the setting is much more oriental than that of previous games, and I love it. New weapons, story mode that feels spatial, practically a free choice of character customization of much more! I have no negative comments, the only flaw could be a short duration of the Story mode, which for lone players like me could be a problem, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong! 🐙
Nintendo has a habit of making titles that are bizarrely different from each other, but the games within those franchises rarely lack enough new features to be called a new game
i love what they’ve done with splatfests! the new music and that now or never- it sounds so good. having three teams now is definitely gonna be interesting, can’t wait to experience the chaos of three teams fighting at once in matches
So much new stuff! Everything is on point here. The character designs, the UI, the new stages. Love the new weapon types and specials. And all the customization for more player expression! Yes!
I'm so excited for this game. There's definitely some things that could have been added to splatoon 2, but when you add it all together, it definitely warrants a new game. I love the splatanas, they look like a great choice for fighting, even if they seem like they'll be a bit weaker for inking. The stringer reminds me a lot of the rollers, with the wide shot being standing and the tall shot being jumping, so hopefully it's not a completely new learning curve. Having support specials is also a really cool idea that I'm surprised we hadn't gotten already, but I'm glad we're getting now. And of course, the return of Salmon Run, especially with the addition of the new king salmonids, is absolutely amazing. All in all, I'm super happy with how this new game looks like it'll turn out. Also, team paper all the way for me.
I'm planning on repping Team Scissors, I find I tend to gravitate mainly to one of the hosts, and at first, I wasn't sure which it would be and was gonna reserve my decision till I had time to feel them both out some more, but then they revealed Big Man and I was sold. Before, I was honestly unsure if Splatoon 3 was necessary, because it felt like nothing much changed from the 2nd game...but this Splatoon Direct changed my opinion quite a bit, and now I feel like its worth getting! I like that they added a small, but rather neat new mode, old stages coming back, the more traditional Japanese type Splatfests, etc. If I can, I'll definitely pre-order this. Hopefully this can be the best Splatoon game ever! Edit 8/14/2022: I saw that a couple people really be thinking that nothing shown makes this the biggest Splatoon ever. Huh.
that isnt saying very much. the best splatoon game is on the same level as Hotel Mario in terms of enjoyment. but even then, Hotel Mario at least has good music

@@mario_adv2nture Well to be fair Splatoon is the series that started and popularized the concept of launching a game incompleted and finishing it with free updates for Nintendo. Even if I do think that Splatoon handle the concept a lot better than the sport games.

Animal Crossing is one of the best examples as most people left the game before most updates came in. Even if not every game has it, it's a scary thought a good ammount of people have for most official Nintendo games nowadays.
It doesn't have a good amount of content... It launches with no new modes, only 8 news maps, and only 2 new weapon types... If this is considered a good amount of content now, then the bar is too low. I don't get why nintendo loves to release splatoon games unfinished and then give us back the content in future updates. It's just annoying at this point. They did the same thing for splatoon 1 and splatoon 2.

Players don't need a new Weapon every week just to have fun when they can hop, squid, and jump between those dozens of weapons. If anything, the new weapon types are just fleshing out the playstyles which the rest of the roster don't 100% cover with some neat gimmicks.

The thing I’m happiest about from this are the minor changes for the sake of convenience. For example I find the ability to set gear loadouts incredibly important. Also, the ability to use the training room while waiting for a match is really significant. All of it was very interesting.
For someone who played semi profesionally yes, I totally agree lol it was sooo annoying to change everything whenever I had to swap a weapon or having to log half an hour before a match started to warm up and then just sit in the lobby for like 10 minutes waiting for everyone

For those who didn’t notice, the store manager for the locker items is Harmony, a character that has actually been somewhat present before in the series. She’s part of the musical band known as Chirpy Chips that plays all sorts of battle music in Splatoon 2. If you look it up, she’s right there on the album cover!

The reporter did a superb job explaining the entire game, one part at a time. Whether she explains the stages, characters, and weapons for example, she had a truckload of energy to give out and made the Direct so much fun to watch, even if it's half an hour long!

Entire direct was amazing, and props to the announcer. But it's something I've been asking for for ages! I'd love to see a 4 team turf war become a thing. 2v2v2v2, spawning at 4 corners of different maps or maybe all close ish to the middle and able to then reach the further ends.

Literally all I want is to be able to invite my friend and queue up for normal games. It sounds like the Ghosts thing is a decent fix for that. I remember splatoon 2 making you sit there and hope someone leaves your friend's match to make room for you to play, and then you'd often end up on opposite teams. I looooove splatoon, but playing with friends casually has always been handled like it's some new concept xD

I love how the splatoon colour themes are based on complimentary colours (opposite colours), for example…
Splatoon 1 - orange and blue
Splatoon 2 - pink a green
Splatoon 3 - yellow and purple
Some of the colours are slight variations such as pink, it’s meant to be red but pinks a good substitute
splatoon 2 and 3 seem to have color themes based on the last splatfest of the previous game since 1 ended w callie vs marie(pink and green) and 2 ended with chaos vs order(yellow and blue-purple)
its kind of like how the last splatfest affects the next game since we spend more time with marie in 2 and there's a chaotic city/tone to 3
I'm pretty sure if you digitally invert the pink and green they use for Splatoon 2, it's almost a perfect match!

The idols seem to be more traditional than our previous idols and I love how they showed how diverse inklings and octolings can look, with their different styled eyes and faces. It's just incredible to be honest. I've a feeling this game is going to be one of the best of 2022 (YALL STOP FIGHTING IN THE REPLIES WE GET IT, FRYE HAS A BIG FOREHEAD SHE CUTE

While I personally would have preferred players to have their own room to place stuff in, player owned lockers are a neat idea. It's really cool to see a game have proper sequels where they keep the good stuff and then add onto the game in their own way.

The announcer featured in this Direct really sold every section, loved how much energy they brought to the narration. From returning Splatoon 1 stages, to Salmon Run becoming more intense, new idols, Splatfest premiere and the tease of story mode being a splatastic saga (with larger scale DLC on the rise) we’re truly in for a RIDE.

I love how different a vibe these idols give off, the Squid sisters had a very serious and very energetic combo, Off the Hook had a chaotic and calm combo, and this new trio seems to mix it up. The game looks amazing, with returning favorites, and new side ideas such as the locker and a tcg X ttg looks super interesting, cant wait to jump right in!

Splatoon was always something I was kinda interested in, but not enough to get. But Splatoon 3 has had me getting progressively more and more excited about it! And the customization/diversity is so good! A game where I can finally make someone that genuinely looks like me and it makes me so happy! It's such a small part of this game, but it's so amazing!
The series caught my attention when 2 came out, but I didn't own a Switch back then. This will be the first Splatoon game I'll actually play for myself and I'm really excited. This and Sparks of Hope are my most hyped games of this year.
Played splatoon 2 when it was free. I liked it but it had been out too long for me to justify paying full price. I’m excited especially for the story mode.

I think my favorite detail from the direct is the fact that Captain Agent 3 still seems to have the ability to launch specials whenever, as shown at 20:31, when they flash yellow, and the top of their head shines.

@@pixelpatch Local splitscreen isn't really feasible for Splatoon. Possible, but it'd be really clunky & limited in functionality. (Splatoon 1 had a 1v1 gamemode where one person used the TV and the other used the GamePad, but it was a simple balloon battle game with limited weapon and stage selections.)
You can still use The Shoal for local multiplayer with multiple Switches, but still nothing for using a single Switch, unfortunately. It'd be cool if there was a Download Play functionality with limited multiplayer from one copy like the DS had...

I love the change to rainmaker. It's no longer a "your opponent has 97 points, try to get to 98 or higher." Instead you have to reach certain checkpoints and then the rainmaker's shield has to be broken again. Solid Change.

yeah, this also prevents rainmaker wins within 10 seconds - I remember one occassion I rushed the rainmaker, splat half the team, and before the other two enemies even knew what was happening, I made it to the podium. I've even been on the receiving end of a win like that lol, so definitely a nice change

The amount of QoL and polish put a smile on my face during this entire Direct. I was lukewarm on the game before. Mostly because my old crew quit Splatoon 2 so long ago, but this is likely going to cause everyone to come back for at least a few years. I was never competitive, but a few of the crew were. There appear to be some nice QoL changes for the competitive scene as well!

The expressions of the characters are perfect and everything looks so lively like the inklings have actually remade civilisation but no humans. Nintendo doesn't just cease to be awful. They don't know how to!

I’m honestly really impressed by how in-depth the world seems, the new stylised maps, the new salmon run, and all the other little details. I expected for this to be a complete copy of the last splatoon but Nintendo have really went above and beyond, it feels like they have listened to the fans and have worked really hard to make a very good game. The fact that they will be supporting the game with tons of new updates after launch is incredible and the tournaments are such a great idea to get people interested in playing the game. This will definitely be the best splatoon yet!!!

It looks like only the specials listed in this direct are coming back, but between those, the newly announced ones, and the other new ones mentioned earlier, this game has the most specials ever featured, 15, and we're only a launch! S2 Added specials during its lifetime like Ultra Stamp and still didn't have as many at the end.

This really is the year of the 3s
I am so hyped for this game. New weapons, returning stages, new mechanics, and so much more. There is just so much to take in, and it's amazing. This direct really made the game look less like splatoon 2, and it's going to be very hard to play splatoon 2 after this.
Especially since the best parts of splatoon 2 are back, so its not like you would start to miss splat2.
I can't believe it's already been a year since this direct came out, I remember after watching this I became obsessed with splatoon again.
I only ever played Splatoon 1 a couple of times on my brothers Wii U when the game just released, didn’t really think much of it. Then I started playing Overwatch a year later and I didn’t play much else for about 4 years. Really got me hooked on tactical team shooters, so seeing a variety of support and defensive abilities (support main btw) made me order this game immediately so I can get sucked into another addiction for the next couple of years

I am a big Overwatch player too. Off-support, flex player, 4.4k support. I literally bought a Wii U despite knowing it was dying since I loved Splatoon 1 so much. I walked to my friend's house every day to play Splatoon on the Wii U during the test betas and when it first came out. Don't regret it one bit it's one of my favorite games. It's a lot less strategic than Overwatch and there isn't nearly as much of a community/social aspect around Splatoon but it makes up in how fun it is. Do recommend. Feel free to ask me any questions if you are considering getting it

I’ll always love splatoon. They never take away things that people have always liked and instead they either make it better or add on things we’ve wanted. I’m just really obsessed because I’ve always loved this game since I was little :)

I have no idea what it is this time around. But the animations for splatoon seem way more natural and fluid. Good to see splatoon 3 continue to get better and more and more hype with time.

Specifically, I didn’t want new tanked modes since the four that we have are already a lot for battles that are competitive. I was looking for more casual modes like hide and seek or team with most kills wins, or just have the ranked modes as casual as you said. But man there is just so much stuff already coming out on launch that I feel greatly outweighs much of the nitpicks, and that it will be continuously updated for a long time (which hopefully will resolve the problems) that I just feel that this game is worth the money if not more.

the anarchy battle (open) doesn't seem to affect your rank, you can't rank up (and supposedly can't go down), so you can also play ranked modes without the stress, it seems like. check the splatoon website they set up to check the details in the ranking system section if you want ^^

I was genuinely afraid, I thought the game would be identical to the second, or even worse! But this Direct definitely made me change my mind! There are crazy news, the setting is much more oriental than that of previous games, and I love it. New weapons, story mode that feels spatial, practically a free choice of character customization of much more! I have no negative comments, the only flaw could be a short duration of the Story mode, which for lone players like me could be a problem, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong! 🐙

I'm so excited for this game. There's definitely some things that could have been added to splatoon 2, but when you add it all together, it definitely warrants a new game. I love the splatanas, they look like a great choice for fighting, even if they seem like they'll be a bit weaker for inking. The stringer reminds me a lot of the rollers, with the wide shot being standing and the tall shot being jumping, so hopefully it's not a completely new learning curve. Having support specials is also a really cool idea that I'm surprised we hadn't gotten already, but I'm glad we're getting now. And of course, the return of Salmon Run, especially with the addition of the new king salmonids, is absolutely amazing. All in all, I'm super happy with how this new game looks like it'll turn out. Also, team paper all the way for me.

I'm planning on repping Team Scissors, I find I tend to gravitate mainly to one of the hosts, and at first, I wasn't sure which it would be and was gonna reserve my decision till I had time to feel them both out some more, but then they revealed Big Man and I was sold. Doesn't mean I'll always be on his team, but for an inconsequentially topiced Splatfest like this I'm going with him.

Before, I was honestly unsure if Splatoon 3 was necessary, because it felt like nothing much changed from the 2nd game...but this Splatoon Direct changed my opinion quite a bit, and now I feel like its worth getting!
I like that they added a small, but rather neat new mode, old stages coming back, the more traditional Japanese type Splatfests, etc.
If I can, I'll definitely pre-order this. Hopefully this can be the best Splatoon game ever!

Animal Crossing is one of the best examples as most people left the game before most updates came in. Even if not every game has it, it's a scary thought a good ammount of people have for most official Nintendo games nowadays.
It doesn't have a good amount of content... It launches with no new modes, only 8 news maps, and only 2 new weapon types... If this is considered a good amount of content now, then the bar is too low. I don't get why nintendo loves to release splatoon games unfinished and then give us back the content in future updates. It's just annoying at this point. They did the same thing for splatoon 1 and splatoon 2.

Players don't need a new Weapon every week just to have fun when they can hop, squid, and jump between those dozens of weapons. If anything, the new weapon types are just fleshing out the playstyles which the rest of the roster don't 100% cover with some neat gimmicks.
