Interesting, thanks. If you create a message containing an emoji and send it to someone who uses an Android, will it get sent as an MMS or as an RCS SMS? I'm thinking that it could cost more if it's outside of your regular phone plan.
@@GarryKnight Thanks for reminding me that in some parts of the world you pay per message. It has been "unlimited" here in the US for so long I forgot that.
Very good video. One question not related to this video. I talked to you a few weeks ago about this. So the question is How do /I open 2 instances of Onedrive so I can move files from one to the other? You even sent me a link to one of your videos. Sorry, I guess I didn't save it.. Could you send it again.. Thank you very much..
In the future ask unrelated questions at macmost.com/ask I don't use OneDrive so I can't be of much help with this question. Not even sure if that is possible.
The only place I can get genmoji to work like this is in Messages (I'm on 15.3, M2 MBP 2023). It won't come up as an option in Notes, Email, or Bear, for example. Do I need to turn something on, or add some keyboard? Thanks for the helpful video.
Nothing to turn on. It should work in Mail as long as you are composing a rich text message, not plain text. Works in Notes too, but probably only in iCloud notes, not other systems.
@@macmost Thanks for the reply. Just tried again in Notes, just the iCloud notes, and I see all the emojis but NOT the ones I just made in Messages, and no plus button to create new. I wonder what I'm doing wrong.
@@macmost Figured it out! I was using the expanded view of emojis. Clicking the tiny icon in the upper right put me in normal view There it was. Thanks!
@@macmost Turned out to be the language setting. I had set it to "American English" to be compatible in the first round of AI coming out; but had to set it back to Canadian English to get it to work now. Thanks for the follow up and all your videos - no matter all the clever Mac / iPhone tricks I know, you always have a few more up your sleeve!
Problem is trying to use these things across the information universe. Try to add these to Facebook? It'll just be an image, not inline, correct? Try to add to a UA-cam comment - no go. Etc.
Yes, though because Apple has been pushing "stickers" and "Memoji" and not "Genmoji" there is probably more pressure on different system to allow inline images in text. So eventually you'll have some more options.
How fun! A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️
Very interesting Gary. Thank you for your explanations, especially how to get rid of the genmoji.
As always, a great video! I found out from you that there’s a new version of macOS :) Thanks!

It should use RCS, right? That’s what the Messages app uses now, as long as the recipient uses it.
@@macmost Yes, that would be my guess, and it's up to us to find out from our messaging provider if it's going to cost more money.

Oh darn. I guess I'm still stuck with eggplants.
Every time I select choose a person, it shuts down. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong???
Try a restart. See if that helps.

Odd - I have 15.3 iMac M3, but no Genmoji functionality.
Does it meet the other requirements? I show a link at the start of the video.

Apple must release the updates at different intervals. You always seem to get yours before I do. Guess that's what I get for living in the backwoods.
This was released earlier this week. Check in System Settings, General, Software Update.
@@macmost Yeah. After I manually checked, it's there.
