I got a shaped flight deck that i put bones rails on, i used double sided tape under the rail and had my friend cut down the length of the screws so they wouldn't push thru the top of the deck which worked perfectly, also drill small pilot holes in the deck to help get the screws to thread in..the carbon weave is really freakin hard like spencer said.
Maybe they should make a 7-ply version as well? One more layer of the ‘carbon fiber’ and one more layer of wood…. Could be an interesting option and would reduce chipping/razor tail symptoms The thicc version ha
..if you wax the "shoulders" and tail/nose edges well, before you even start skatin', and continue to wax the edges after each sess, it'll keep everything good for months. If you get splinters/etc, just wax it/fill the spaces. Also, I'm tellin ya'll, & Victor Garcia will attest, that Thunders seem to pop these decks the best; jus sayin' 💚⚡️ Thanks for the vids always 🤘🏽
Thank you very very much for the Review, ive been wondering for a while how the Powell Peralta Team got so gnarly😅 im going to get a FlightDeck myself soon ❤
I am really curious to see how someone like you could skate Andy's newest board setup? It just seems like a really fascinating thing to objectively study.. regardless I'm just really happy andy is testing out genuinely creative ideas around skateboarding. It's been a long time since any innovation has even attempted to occur. So i really respect the effort and thought he has put into things
I've had the same exact flight deck with deck rails since july (4 months now). It has razor tail, but more or less it still pops the same because of the carbon layers. I got used to the screws barely poking through. the only thing that makes me want to change my board at this point is that i had chipped it a little bit, causing fiber splinters to stick out on the edges.
Whenever i consider getting one I remember I'm worried I'll kill it with razor tail/chips while the board's still sturdy as. Maybe they could make the tail and nose a touch longer; when it first razors out, you can sand it round again.
Are both 243-246 and 247-249 flight decks symmetrical? It's stated explicitly that concave k26 is a symetrical shape which applies for 247-249. And It says k20 concave is for 243-246 but it does not say if that's symmetrical.
I really wanna try one sometime, I had an earlier incarnation of the fiber technology - an Almost impact deck. It has a different pop from all wood, extremely stiff, but it just stays that way. Very reliable but I went back to all wood bc it feels noticeably more springy...until it doesn't
If you want a bigger nose and a shorter wheelbase, that's easily doable with a drill and Indy trucks (or any truck that has 6 holes in the baseplate instead of just 4.
Overall length needs to be 13.75-13.8 and offer a 14wb. I also tried just one of their regular 8.5 and it was awful. Concave was weird and nose was small for me.
I think the 244 shape that Spencer has on here is the best 8.5 shape I’ve skated. I can’t wait for Powell’s new flight deck graphics on their website to come out. I’m getting the purple one
@@trevorschauwecker I tried the 249 shape. I prefer mellow concave but this was very flat especially in the tail and very funky concave. Board was way too thick feeling too not sure what the hell was going on. Gave it to some kid at the park 😂
My biggest question would be are they worth the 100$ compraed to regular wood boards i can typically make a shop deck last me about 2 months as well and nice glass ware in the floor lmao
Lol I thought I got all the glass outta the shot 😆 But back to ur Q: is it with $100 I think it’s worth trying. Kinda costly if u go thru boards a lot tho. but I’ll see how it holds up after month or 2 and get back to that question haha
Powell Flight decks chipps very easily and quickly, the wood quality is horrible and it's mostly the fiber layer that keeps all together. Chipping and razor tailing affect the pop, it is much worse then on Santa Cruz VX decks, however VX decks usually come with steeper nose and tail but they feel much more premium.
That hardflip was GORY👊🏼🤘🏼
That bong looks like a real ripper bro
Lol mav makes a good 9mm beaker I can’t lie 😆
I was extremely impressed by the couple Creature VX boards i rode. Usually go through a board a month and they both lasted around 4.
I am riding the Spencer Seimen Pro model "Skull" Flight deck currently and I love it. Flight decks come in 2 shapes with different concaves as well.
I need that K20 👌

Just grabbed a Sea Rat 9" popsicle. Paired it with some 166s. An absolute stunner!
Oh niice combo! 💯 🛹
dam that's a clean bong 😅
😆
i cant wait for dans board to come out. based off his recent videos i think its gonna have a shorter wheelbase so im super exited for that!!
We want an Andy,Bev, spencer and Dan session. Now that would be playful

The thicc version ha
Ahaha the thicc flight
That would be a heavy deck.
I've only skated the Andersen flight decks and both sizes were heavier than the 7 ply versions.
@@vorpalblades - If 2 of those 7-ply’s were replaced by lighter material, how would they be heavier than 7-ply’s of wood?

Thanks for watching yo!
Nice setup! I’m also riding 151 stage4. They don’t feel that heavy for flip tricks and love the turn. Hardflip manual!👌
Thanks yo! And nice u on the stage 4s too! Idk lol they must not be grinded down as much as my 169s lol

Oh dang 4 months! And yeah the screws don’t really bother me anymore. Just at first I was like woah 😆

i was actually just considering getting that exact same board.
That’s the 244 shape, right? I’m curious what you’d think of the 249 shape.
It isn't lighter than a standard deck. Just feels that way because its thinner. They are actually a little heavier than standard.
are you sure your not thinking of the sc vx?

No they're def lighter. I used to weigh everything.
carbon fiber is lighter than wood there's no magical mystery here
@@DarmokAtTanagra buddy, I literally posted a video of me putting one on a scale. How are you arguing?
What was the goal of this design? Mainly for heavier skaters that keep breaking boards?
Im pretty sure it’s just in general long term pop and strength
They maintain pop for longer, don't chip as easily and are nearly impossible to snap

Bubby want ridiculous buy a split ply fingerboard...those are your real pirates. Just check BRT'S logo, it says it all
Some #6 flat washers under the screws will help with the poking through problem
💯
lil jawns slim rails are the lightest rails out there!
48mm wheels?
Flight deck and holding on a long layer of a wide board
5:47 thas what she said
Wth happened to Rat Nuts for installing rails. That is the only way to mount rails, if you dont want them pulling off.
they are thin but not lightweight at all. I love them but they are not light boards.
Santa Cruz vx 😎
2 levels above Flight Decks
Flight deck, hair cut and no shades, who is this guy?
I think it's Nyja Huston. 😂
