Thanks for the update. Creature and Chocolate offer fiberglass reinforced decks as well.
I just learned about those! I wanna look into trying them
I use #6 lock washers around the screws so they don't poke through, but yeah, thats the only thing I don't like about the flight decks. Otherwise, I love them! I love and appreciate you, what you do, and what you put out there, your skating, and your vibes! I'd love to see you get sponsored and have your own flight deck. Keep doing what you're doing!
Oh the washer is a good idea yo! And appreciate the support 🙏🛹💯
I've used a thin, foam doublesided tape between the board and rail to stop any rattle, worked a treat. I can't offer any brand reccos because i'm in the wilds of Australia.
Just get shorter screws or as i do, shorten the screws with an anglegrinder, predrill the holes, even after 1.5years they are bulletprrof
@@bakedbeingsI bet shoe goo would work too. Then again, I don’t wanna screw any more holes in my skateboard than it already has..
@@gloominescent fwiw I've never had a board crack or break where a rail screw entered. Never seen it happen to anyone else either 🤷
Napalm custom makes carbon fiber decks with reinforced tips to prevent razor tailing. Their decks last very long too.
Glad to hear someone's covering that. I rarely snap boards before they're razored.
this deck has an 14.375" WB ;) The Santa Cruz VX decks I've tried had a similar pop but the kicks are a lot steeper than Powell Flight decks
Oh word, I gotta check one of these vx boards out
Stage 4s for life! Get the 166 9" ! Only a teeny narrower than the 169.
@SpencerNuzzi i see you hydrate with that Eternal water. good stuff right there!!
Ayy! 💯
Andy Anderson said it’s normal for the screws to stick out a little bit on flight decks. I screw in the hardware first then setup the grip tape.
For me that is all I skate anymore. It’s between the flight deck and the VX. Because they last so long compared to a regular wooden board. With the rails, I use drywall screws and break off the extra that comes through then grip the board.
Oh the drywall screws!
THAT BOARD FOR SURE LOST IT'S POP, BUT YOU DID NOT. THAT POPSICLE WITH THOSE DECK RAILS SHOULD BE PUT BACK IN THE FREEZER, LOL. NICE DAN HOOKED YOU UP DUDE. YOUR RAIL TRICKS ARE REALLY VERY GOOD. SKATING ALONE SOMETIMES BRINGS IMPROVEMENT. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY SPENC.
🙌🙏✨
The self tapping wood screws that come with rails have that pointed tip, and on such thin ply, that doesn't leave much real thread to bite into it. I'm thinking next time i'll pre-drill, and use blunt wood screws (basically like coarse-threaded machine screws).
Let’s gooo!! Powell action
🙌🙌
Have you skated any Creature Stump boards with the shorter wheelbase, I'm on my second one and I love them
No haven’t tried it heard of those!!
for the rails, you could screw them in before putting on the grip, then sand down the screw tips. Kind of a pain, but that might be an elegant solution to a minor problem. Thank you for the review and everything you do, wishing you the best in 2024.
Easier to just out something between them on bottom side maybe ?
Oh that’s a good idea! And thanks yo! Happy new year!
I skate flight decks size 8 or 8.25. both are cozy for me
I like the shorter wheel base. I also use rails, creates consistent slise. 53 mm wheels. Ive been skating the dragons. Love them a ton cause 95 percent of my time is spent street skating. Indi mid 144, swiss bones. Thats my set up. I love Powell Peralta.. so maybe I'm to bias
Nice vidéo, you talk also about VX deck. They have really différent shape, the 8.51 and 8.53 are not steep like the Wooten 8.5. They are more like a normal kind of kicks(not too steep) and for sure the tail and nose are not the same. I think they called that kind of shape 3D(more mellow) versus the ATV(steep). I broke board really fast and im really interested about tougher decks because with 3 kids i cannot spend all that money on decks.
Thanks for the update
Thanks for tapping in yo!
@@spencernuzzi You're Welcome!
Kirby hoodie is 🔥 I have a Kirby shirt I rock often
Ayy thanks yo! And hell yee!!
Walmart has Kirby socks that are really dope.
@@pauliewalnuts5241 noted!
about to try one, I keep cracking decks from heelflip to bs board on the flat bars
Wheelbase is 8.375 on the 8.5
You can always sand down the razor tail with some sandpaper.. (I like to call it shape-shifting) Really just turns any board into a strange Toy Machine shape. (Which only give you more pop) 🐰✌️
bro i feel like there is no 3/5 month straight of bad weather in winter where you live god damn the dreaaamm
Yeeee it really is chill! I’m from New Jersey so everyday in Cali is paradise
Thinking a "honestly" counter is inbound. 😂❤
Im sure the flight deck has come a long way compared to the old bonite they had. That stuff would absorb water and flake out when it chipped.
Oh dang I’ve never heard bout those lol
@@spencernuzzi yeah I’m giving my age away 😂 this was back in the day on my old lance mountain deck
They all tried a composite layer...vision had graphite in their boards. @@MrJp900

🙌
That’s the 244 fight shape, right? Have you checked out the 249 shape? I really like it. A little more rounded out and not as popsicley.
Oh I should look into that shape !
flight decks are bruiser boards. they get beat up a lot, but are still in the fight.
I remember when i was a kid, i only got about one board a year....if i was lucky lol. I think i got maybe 2 new decks that i didnt buy as an adult. I had a trash leftover board when i started back in the 80's. Then i got the Gator diamond design. Amd when that wore out i got the Jeff Phillips hospital BBC tri tail deck. When i broke that a year and some later. Then i bought myself a spoon deck, might have been a stereo Dune deck... black and white with spoons and forks. When i broke that i quit skating. Probably the early mid 90's....95-6 maybe.
Now i want to get a flight deck due to some added gut lol. I just want to video myself doing a casper....then ill hang the complete up on a wall and ill have a video to show people.
