    This video came in perfect timing, and exactly what I needed. I have been running to and fro HD, for different dryer vent parts. OMG... almost list my mind. I have the semi rigid dryer duct, and may need to get a new one, since the old one hasn't been changed since I bought this house. Struggling on how to connect the semi rigid dryer duct to the outside vent pipe. The 3 snips was the magical word. THANK YOU!!!!!!

    I watched quite a few videos on how to connect my dryer exhaust duct - this is the only one that helped me successfully get the job done. Thank you so much!

    Best part for me: 1:08 I struggled for a half hour trying to get that hose over the stupid pipe. The 3-slit technique and I was done in a few minutes. Thank you!

      I got the duct onto the outside vent pipe the as far as the three 1/2" slot cuts allowed, which was not far enough. I've tried to figure out of there is a way to slightly bent and compress the vent pipes to 3 3/4". That way the duct can actually go over the vent pipe.

    Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I also have a very tight space between the dryer and the wall and looked all over UA-cam for a solution when I came upon this video. Thanks again!!!!

    I saw a You Tube video that shows how to do this, as well. This one is way better because he actually knows what he’s doing. He also makes it very easy to follow with step-by-step instructions and does it all in less than 3 minutes. The other tutorial video took 13.5 minutes. He struggled with every single step of the process, like it was his very first time doing it! I half expected him to say “Now, make sure you have a professional do this. You don’t want to burn your house down.” Dude, it’s not rocket science! He should’ve titled his video “Do as I say, not as I do” or “Dryer vent hose replacement for dummies.....like me.” I am 67 years old and don’t know anything about anything. I don’t have the money to pay somebody to do this. But, I think I can actually do this myself! Thanks so much!

    Thank you. I thought I was going to have a heart attack trying to figure this out. It's going to be easy to complete now. THANK YOU AGAIN for simplifying it.

    You are AWESOME!!! We have been struggling for half an hour or more trying to get a 4 inch hose on a 4 inch pipe. I was trying to cut the pipe instead lol. Thanks so much!! You are a life saver!!!😁😄😂

    Thanks! Got new washer & dryer installed today, instead of cutting and installing new flex-metal vent pipe, they used existing cheaper pipe, and smashed it up to the vent to make it fit. So now it's a DIY project for me.

      That's exactly the reason I didn't let the delivery people install my washer & dryer.

    Thank you so much for your easy to follow video. Your pacing and visuals were perfect. This explained exactly what I needed to do with the confusing kit that I ordered. Looks like I could have bought these parts off the shelf if I had discovered your video first.

    My hose is so thin, no matter what I do it just crimps and buckles. This quick fix is driving me nuts!! The 3 cuts was super helpful to widen the hose a bit, so thin it’s bending and making me curse. My neighbors probably think I’m crazy!!

    That gap around the outside pipe is big enough for a full grown possum to squeeze through.

      Yeah, I thought that, too. I said to myself, wait.....you ARE going to fix that ginormous hole back there, right? Unless, of course, it will double as a doggie door.

    Is that close 90 degree elbow necessary? I'm curious, because the same 90degree turn is made to the wall, without the elbow

      I think so. I didn't want to take a chance of kinking the pipe so I used the fitting.

    I liked your video....Home Depot just delivered our dryer and hooked it up, my concern is that the vent pipe behind our dryer is really bent up to make if fit in our laundry room. Is it ok to have a very bent part in the vent pipe?

    • @Iscaper
      @Iscaper  4 роки тому +1

      Better to have gradual bends.

    Are both elbows needed or can this be done with just a hose?

    • @Iscaper
      @Iscaper  5 років тому +1

      Depends on how much room you have. If possible without elbows is preferable.

    How exactly did you cut through the main wire that on this that help keeps the pipe' s shape. My fiancee and I are trying to do this and that main wire cannot be cut through with anything we have and just causes the pipe to unravel. Is the tape for there for that reason?

    • @Iscaper
      @Iscaper  3 роки тому +1

      The tape is so I make a straight cut. A sharp pair of tin snips is the most important part of this project.

    What do you do when your heavy washer is already in place in a tiny laundry room? How do you install a vent pipe then?

    • @Iscaper
      @Iscaper  5 років тому

      The only thing I can think of is to buy a collapsible dryer hose that is long enough so you can connect it to the dryer outlet while the dryer is out of the opening. Then when you push the dryer into the opening the hose will collapse on itself. I had the same problem on my dryer. Be careful you don't kink the hose when pushing the dryer in.

    • @hjwang4477
      @hjwang4477 4 роки тому +1

      you can remove the hose to the washer and take the washer out. there is just no way to install drywer in tight space without moving the washer. Even then I have to climbing from the top to the back of the dryer.

  • @AttRandyReynolds
    @AttRandyReynolds 2 роки тому

    The single biggest hurdle is sliding the dryer duct over the vent pipe. I would provide the tools and duct, move the appliances, and then pay someone $10 just to slide the duct ends over the pipes. Nothing else. I would even clamp them down myself.

    It boggles my mind that there isn't a simple plug-in fitting allowing the duct to be pushed on to the wall/dryer pipe with utter ease.
