Love your content it’s been a big help in getting my Microgreens business up and running. Can you please share how you wash your sunflower to get rid of the excess seed hulls. Also do you sanitize your seeds and if so what is that process? Thanks again!
I do not sanitize any seeds whatsoever. The sunflowers get brushed after each watering. My next set of videos will be specifically on sunflower microgreens so stay tuned for more info 🌱😊
How it goes? Did u find out about more about sanitary regulations and stuff? Everyone say “microgreens” and “make money” but no one speaks about what if someone gets sick with a bacteria from eating those microgreens? Salmonella, flagella, E. coli…. How do restaurants and shops allowing “uncertified” products bough from “Joe doe” on the street corner? Cuz once u get with FDA regulations IRA regulations for businesses and all other things - all profits are out of the window.
@@mushroom4978Doesn’t produce need to be grown in contaminated manure to be exposed to those bacteria, though? He uses potting soil. And this isn’t a prepared food; it’s a raw agricultural product. You just tell customers to wash or cook it before consuming. We probably buy chicken that’s infected with salmonella all of the time; it’s not the supplier’s fault if you get sick from eating it raw.

Awesome videos. Do you regret not buying a wider rack system for you 10x20 flats? 48 x 18 x 72 allows the 20inch tray to over hang by quite a bit not allowing the tray to sit flat on the shelf between the front & back lip of the stand. Hello, Thank you so much for your videos. I am taking my baby steps in growing microgreens from home. I tried asking several people about how to grow them but nobody would help. I am glad i found this video. Just in case, i have further questions and if you are willing to help out, how do i reach you?
This seems really viable. Especially if you are in a good location and have low competition. Loooove the playlist!!! I don't have any space to do this at the moment. I love the idea big time. Sprouting is really fun.
First off, thank you for all the great videos you are posting, Donny! I've been watching them all, as well as Microgreens Farmer & Micro Acres! We're waiting for our new house to finish being built (it keeps delaying) and I plan to get started as soon as we settle in! Eventually, the goal is to build a backhouse for growing operations, but, I will likely get my 'sea legs' with this business in the garage with a couple racks. My question is, will temperature fluctuations in a garage be a large problem for microgreens? I live in the Pacific Northwest (the edge of rural territory) and the good news is that the climate here is generally fantastic year around but we do get 88 degree August days and some 27 degree nights in Feb. Do you foresee an issue with that? Thank you in advance!!
Why did you prefer soil? I saw, other farmers prefer to hydroponic mat. What is the reason you prefer to use soil? Also, do you use the soil in the tray more than once?
The soil is used once and then dumped out for composting. The plants liked the soil better than the other growing mediums so I gave them what they wanted. There are benefits and drawbacks to both, but I prefer soil and it seems the plants do too 🌱😊
Great information ! I only have a few of the Bootstrap Farmer’s trays (more on the way) I made the mistake of buying the cheap ones, not only will they not last as long, they sag in the middle, they don’t stack right leaving a corner or a whole end of the tray lower causing so many issues.
YEP!!! Thanks for the comment and validating this haha. Much love! I'm glad you made the choice earlier than I did 😆So many issues from those crappy flimsy trays that people don't realize. The sagging in the center is a recipe for overwatering. Who are your main customers? Restaurants? Home delivery?
Donny Greens We are about 50/50 right now. We are looking forward to getting involved in a farmers market so we can push more subscriptions. We are not trying to approach too many restaurants right now.
Hi Donny. Great videos! Thank you for this content. In your videos I see where you have your trays doubled and you water the bottom as well. Your links bring me to "no holes" trays. I am assuming I will need 1/2 of my trays with holes and the other half without. Is this the case?
Im wondering the same thing! If I have room for 10 trays should I buy 10 shallow trays with holes and another 10 shallow trays but with no holes? Or is it 10 shallow with holes and 10 regular with no holes? I know this might sound really stupid but I can’t find answers about it anywhere
I’m 16 and going to do this and build a buisness. Going to be in my parents house obviously and they said go ahead. These are 2 places where I can do it so tell me which one I should do for growing the micro greens. First is the basement. Has a dehumidifier, new full air condition installed, sink with faucet. Able to store probably 4 racks where I would be putting it cause my dad has a man cave so he said I could have the other part of the basement. Second place would be the garage. I live in Ohio so cold winters and hot summers. City and well water. No faucet AC or dehumidifier. Able to store like 2 racks. Could put a table in each spot, storage, and electric etc. Feel like basement would definitely be better but don’t know. Oh yeah and basement has a box freezer too with lots of space! Please let me know!
10 months later and I see this comment, I am also 16 looking to start growing some micro greens for profit. If possible could you tell me how this whole business went for you and your experience with it. Thanks
Thank you Donny. I am planning on starting to grow Microgreen for my husband who now has his own restaurant. This video is very helpful. My first, most direct question is that we have a greenhouse outside. Do you have advice for growing outside rather than indoors with lights?
There are 2 links for the light you used. Sunblaster is used for each shelves? Cost higher though.:) the other is it good for 1 each shelf too? Coz a lot cheaper. Please advise
Maybe time to update the parts list? 170 for 3 single bulb lights seems like a lot of money. I’m wondering if the plants are under light long enough to warrant that expense.
Hey Donny I started growing microgreens as a hobby a few months back and have been trying out various recipes with them, as well. Now, I would like to take a step further and start growing these on a commercial scale. One hurdle that i see right now is to get my target customer. If you have any advise on how to reach the right customer, that’ll be really helpful.
Awesome, im excited for you to start selling! You can target health food stores, grocery stores, distributors, chefs, home delivery, farmers markets, B2B, the possibilities are endless
Truly love this entire concept. I live in a 2 bdrm. Comdo.so water would be the issue 4 me 😒 . not allowed to alter w/ o strata permission. Any suggestions? 🌈☮️🙏

I love this video I hope to start someday soon!
Do it!
I know this might sound really stupid but I can’t find answers about it anywhere
you need both!
Hi Donny, Thank you so much for all the information you provide. How many lights per tier are you strapping on your racks?
you are very welcome. i use 1-2
@@DonnyGreens How do you decide if it’s 1 or 2?
experiment and see what the results are
Good information! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks
Donny......... THANK YOU SO MUCH. Hero of the year
Haha much love, my pleasure 🌱💚
Thanks Donny! How long are your grow lights? It looks like they fit perfectly to the racks. What is the length of each one? Thanks so much!!!
Lights?
Another extremely helpful video. Thanks man!
No problem! Thanks so much for watching 🌱💚
I use one sunblaster. People tend to use 2-3 of the barrinas
Maybe time to update the parts list? 170 for 3 single bulb lights seems like a lot of money. I’m wondering if the plants are under light long enough to warrant that expense.
Those lights last years!
Where do you sell microgreens to? In the grocery stores in the US, must be FDA approved.
Thank you! Good work ❤
No problem 😊
Thank you for sharing this content bro ✊🏼❤️
Hey Donny
I started growing microgreens as a hobby a few months back and have been trying out various recipes with them, as well.
Great video thanks!!
Truly love this entire concept. I live in a 2 bdrm. Comdo.so water would be the issue 4 me 😒 . not allowed to alter w/ o strata permission. Any suggestions? 🌈☮️🙏
