It's unconstitutional that Americans are prevented from owning "weapons of war"
the 2nd amendment not only guarantees,
it requires Americans to own and be proficient in the use of such weapons.
"But the constitution referred to muskets"
Yeah and militaries at the time had muskets.
@@beyondbackwater4933 Makes no difference, the Constitution says what it says for a Reason!!!
Mr. Smith I totally agree with you, but let’s be honest, our military has far outpaced our ability to get the technology they currently have.
I agree for small arms, but I'm not sure about explosives, vehicles, and things as big as a nuke. Humvees and old M4 Shermans? Hell yeah. Abrahams and Bradleys? Maybe not...
You said, "unconventional"... I think you meant "unconstitutional". And yes, it is most certainly UNCONSTITUTIONAL for them to have the Hughes Amendment in place! 👍🏻

"im gonna send men with firearms to your home so you can't own anymore guns" - Situation irony
That will not work well in some cases.
I'd just like to say, Charles Whitman did not use any issued firearms from the Marine Corps. They were all either manually operated or semi-automatic and bought through normal civilian channels that were available at the time. The one that garnered the most attention was a Remington Model 700 in 6mm Remington, literally a Deer gun that FUDDs say will not be taken from them because they're "for hunting". That rifle in particular is currently displayed and is labeled as a "sniper rifle", which is *_EXACTLY_* how hunting rifles will be labeled if civilian disarmament politicians get their wish in regards to "assault weapons" and handguns.
If memory serves Remington XB-40 was a preferred 'sniper rifle'
@@patrickgriffitt6551 The USMC's M40 SWS was built on Remington 40X rifles. There is also the 40XB that is also popular but hard to come by.

I'd say gun control is about controlling guns pretty much.
"Gun control" is not deterring criminals from getting guns, it's controlling the law abiding citizens that have them

The only difference between M16 and AR15 is 4 parts are slightly different, the hammer, trigger, disconnecor and selector. And of course the presence or absence of an auto sear, auto sear pin and auto sear spring.
Also the vast majority of the time the M16 or M4 in military use is in semiautomatic. The M16 platform was intended to be a semiautomatic rifle with the ability to go into full auto in an emergency for breaking contact or room clearing. It was not meant to be a supressive fire weapon used in full auto always, but rather for taking accurate shots at enemy soldiers.
Furthermore in my opinion the fact that there is a seperate "civilian version" is a gross infringement on our 2nd Amendment. In a true America you should be able to order an M4 shipped straight to your doorstep.
Amen
In the old days it was Auto Ordinance that decided if they'd sell you the Tommy Gun or not. Most of them were stolen from cop shops or armories by the crooks.
The receiver itself is different. There is more material milled away that allows the auto sear to fit.
@@sinjin6219 it is usually different from most manufacturers but it is not required by law, in fact BCI lowers are M16 cut, identical to an M16 lower minus the auto sear pin hole. There are a couple of others that have this type of lower as well. Most companies choose to use a trigger pocket that is narrow and shallow at the rear but they are absolutely not required to do so.
The smaller trigger pocket is because it is cheaper to mill them that way. If they sold the shavings for more than the milling cost, you bet your ass they would all have the m16 cut.
AKSHUALLY... AR does not stand for Armalite Rifle. It stands for Armalite alone. The Armalite corporation manufactured rifles, pistols, and shotguns, ALL models of which begin with with the designator "AR".
Ik that always annoys me when people say it stands for armalite rifle
Actually
You mean AR stands for ARmalite?
Technically AR does stand for Armalite Rifle. Now if it said Armalite AR-15 that would mean rifle. There is also an Armalite AR-17 which is a shotgun. Without the code you'd really need to specify if it's a rifle or shotgun so "Armalite Rifle" it is. :-)
Jimbo B. Oh I actually thought it was just armalite. I saw some guy in the comments on another video saying it stood for assault rifle lol
I went overseas back in the dark ages with an M14. Then we got the Mattie Mattel rifle, the M16A1. It fouled easily, foliage deflected the rounds, but it was lighter and easier to handle. Eventually the fouling got solved with near daily cleaning and condoms over the flash suppressor to keep rain and gunk out of the barrel, and eventually the M16A2 showed up, which was quite a bit better. Modern soldiers don't have the experience of the M16 failing to fire or chamber a round during combat. I've had so-called armament experts say the forward assist was not needed. I wonder if they formed that opinion when their heavy team was engaged by a platoon sized combat unit and a round hung 3/4 the way into the chamber. In a torrential downpour.
After I returned stateside, I had an armorer offer to get me a M16A2 receiver so I could convert an AR-15. Too straight to follow up on it, but it was done quite a few times. I'm sure they exist, but not once has one ever been used in a crime.
the forward assis is NOT needed for the average american citizen because of exactly what you said... the average american citizen is not going into a combat situation with inferior ammunition under the worst conditions with an enemy trying to kill them. Hence part of the message of this video. the AR15 is NOT a military grade weapon like the M16 is. I would also like to point out... (the one guy did touch on it briefly when explaining how the select fire works) the M16A1 and the M16A3 were the only two that could be fired in FULL auto. The M16A2 and the currently used M16A4 only fires a 3 round burst

When the 2nd Amendment was written all guns were "weapons of war".
No they were basically the same as they are today there were guns for self-defense there were guns for hunting there were guns for sport not all guns were weapons of war not all guns today are weapons of war
Anthony Youngblood No. The fact is the 2nd was made for citizens to use for NEVER allowing the gov to abuse their powers. That’s the point. No if But sporting hunting none of that BS It is written for that purpose
that's right. Guns stayed the same, they spit bullets and fire. People changed, I think people are dumber now.

The NFA and every "law" that followed is an infringement! Bring back unregistered MGs!
I know right
If it weren't for the NFA, the 2nd Amendment would be in a much better state. That law led to all of the Gun Control legislation passed since then.
Johnny Reb 2000 if it weren't for the "law abiding citizen" mentality which insinuates that you're rights are dependent upon government fabrication of "crime" which create no victims. Or the "living breathing constitution" ideology. We would be in a lot better place right now as a country...
I think you guys are lucky, all those regulations are just superficial and wont change a thing. They are super afraid of people not voting again. Full auto or select fire is meaningless for a shooter, high cap mags are meaningless for a shooter. Even a 22cal pistol can be lethal for multiple people in a few seconds.
RDaneel Oliwav then you apparently don't understand the reason for the 2nd amendment. The 2nd amendment was written to remind the government that we own them and that we're entitled to the weapons needed to wipe them out... it's not just about hunting and target shooting...

PatriotUSA51~ thank you sir for being reasonable. I understand why gun guys go so far the other way but we have to be better then the gun grabbers. Words matter, and I personally believe selective fire guns should be legal but I do want a tax on the damn things and I’m an interested buyer. Now suppressors, that shouldn’t even be an issue and perhaps mandatory suppressor use in some areas should be mandated at the municipal level, (noise complaint areas). Damn quiet tubes should all be $100 and sold with every other high powered hunting rifle.
Support recreational nukes!
I think it's disingenuous to nitpick ar15 vs m4 or m16. I agree that what the media does is scaremongering and misleading, but we shouldn't be misleading either...noone ever uses that third position in combat anyways. I think we fall into the left's trap when we start talking technicalities, select fire, full auto, whatever.
They look the same. They shoot the same boolitz. This style of rebuttal is really just preaching to the chior. We need to stand up for the right to own "weapons of war" and be honest and direct with the opposition.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter, semi, select fire, none of that matters at all. What matters is the government doesn't follow their own rules, and people want to take your property and rights from you. The item or technical specs of the property are insignificant.

That part about the bolt carrier group was really interesting. I genuinely have had this argument with a work colleague. He even went on to a manufacturers website to find the "rate of fire" of an AR15 to prove his point that they are machine guns. When he couldn't find one he made up some sort of excuse.
I'm from the UK and what's really annoying is that a lot of these sorts of people watch or read about these shootings that happen in America and then quote US gun law terminology like "assault weapon". The term "assault weapon" does not exist outside of the US. It is a uniquely American legal term but it is now being thrown about by the unknowing idiots to make us sound scary.
More people have died in a single football match than have died at the hands of UK legal firearms owners. With one of the most recent being a Royal Navy submariner who went off the reservation with his issued L85A2 (please insert jokes about the SA80 here even though they have by all accounts been pretty reliable since the A2 upgrade).
The term "assault weapon" was coined by a well-known American gun control group (who I will not name) in maybe 1989 or 90 to purposely confuse people with the term "assault rifle" (an actual type of firearm with select fire). Since then it has been used as an umbrella to cover semi-automatic rifles and carbines that the anti-2A/anti-self-defense bunch want to ban; a purely legal term with no real-world meaning, as you properly stated.
Best video you have ever put out. People really don’t know the difference. I knew that the fire control group was drastically different but I didn’t know exactly how different.

@@AKGirthQuake by that logic guntubers will have to keep recycling content every time a new cod comes out and more kids get into guns. Will we have to keep remaking them until 2030? I don't disagree with the sentiment but this is hardly the first video about legal machine guns and semi-autos.

I really wish this hadn't fallen apart near the end of the video. It was really well done, very informative, and had the right amount of passion behind it to come off as genuine. I was ready to share it with my more liberal minded friends. The problem is that once you go on the route of being insulting about their personal insecurities etc. (regardless of the accuracy of that statement) they are going to immediately hit the proverbial "delete" button in their head and discount the content they just consumed; because it changed from informative to adversarial.
I get that the subject is frustrating, and I get worked up and angry too. But if the goal is to actually change minds; the last 8 minutes or so of the video defeated that purpose.
Awesome video guys. Thank you.

@deucedeuce22oz I agree but the fact is these "laws" still physically prevent people like you and me from owning such weapons. No gun store or manufacturer is going to sell a newly made automatic weapon to a civilian because of these "laws". Even a pre 86 gun still requires nfa paperwork before any ffl will let you take the weapon home.

In Texas where the recent church shooting occurred there are hundreds of law enforcement officers who are well trained in tactics and marksmanship, they have the authority to carry a quality duty weapon, they actually have the legal authority to stop a felony in progress, and hopefully they either have experience or training in force on force training.

So I can tell you when I was in. None of the M16 I had could select fire to auto mode. Only one had burst fire mode and was explicitly told not to use it. Ammo is expensive per the Drill Sargent. I will note this is the last time I saw one with that ability. I have the M16 book from service around here somewhere. I recall A1 had auto fire and the A3 very limited release burst and auto fire. Don’t quote on tat last sentence, off memory from years ago. M16 A2 is the most common one you’ll find in service. With that said just because it says M16 or even M4 it in most cases can not do more than safe or single fire. Some cases you might find a burst capable model.
Now I will also correct the idea you can off the shelf build an auto fire AR-15. Often times if not all times there is lots of paperwork to get the parts. There are also individuals with access to tools that have modified them to automatic fire capable. Many though lose the single fire mode due to how the mod it.
Either way at the end of the day average Joe won’t have an automatic fire rifle period let alone use it in a crime. Why would they go through all that trouble to get the paperwork to throw it away. Then you have the Jerry Miculic of the world that show you why an automatic fire guns are basically pointless. Loss of accuracy and groupings suck due to the recoil issues.
Exactly. Unfortunately I feel a lot of people who SHOULD know more than to take a fully automatic AR-15, slap a 16 inch upper on it and start blasting, calling it an M16 is misleading. What you've created there isn't an M16. It's essentially an M4 at that point. And there's nothing wrong with that. That's awesome.
M16 is just the military designation for the original 20" AR-15. Some were even stamped "AR-15" and shipped out I think before Colt bought Armalite. I can buy a semi-auto M16 from Brownells. I can buy a semi-auto M4 from Spike's or BCM. In fact I own the former. I encourage people to look up exactly what an M16 is. It's not a full auto AR variant.
Also fun fact, since the M16 is just an AR-15, they're parts compatible. Now since the ATF required that firearms not be readily convertible to full auto, legal semi auto AR lowers require some milling and drilling to accept components from an M16. But after that they're 100% compatible. It's the same damn weapon platform. It's like comparing an M9 to a Beretta 92fs and calling them "completely different" to hopefully discourage the commies in Washington from banning them. It's asinine.
@@noahk1720 Correct. All M16s/M4s are AR, but not all ARs are M16s/M4s. Just like all lions are cats, but not all cats are lions.
Great video!

I wish this could be shown on national TV AT prime time it was very informative I already knew the difference in the AR15 and the M16 because I was trained on the M16 In the Army back in the 1980,sand I already knew that civilians couldn't own a full automatic thanks for explaining that so well to those who didn't know about AR15,s

Another great video my friends! I wish more people would take the time to watch this.
One of the best gun channels out there. Guns n gear is good to...I see ya
Thank you for the excellent video and excellent truthful information
I've been around guns my entire life, and have only encountered auto's in my short time with the Army. Other than that I've never seen one outside of a government agency, something that definitely needs to change, but it's incredibly rare to find an automatic firearm.
@T G yep. Homemade ones are common too.
i'd like to hear more about what you were saying at 16:10 - 16:30
Awesome video I learned a lot by watching this
Beautiful video, dudes!
You know the first time I ever really was even around guns at all was in the army all of my knowledge about guns comes from the military I never hunted as a kid as a teenager it was an interest but my single mom was not about to indulge in that interest so my first experience with guns was as a weapon not as a hunting instrument or granddad's shotgun or whatever. So when I got out of the army and my civilian friends would talk about AR-15s at first I didn't even know what they were talking about and then when they showed me their AR-15 I was like damn that thing looks just like an M16 or an m4 and they were like what and I was like what haha basically I never experienced weapons outside of the military so when I did I was like wow these things are pretty much the same thing and then I took the bolt out and I saw the difference obviously the other difference is are no three round burst but outwardly they look so similar that I corrected my friend and I was like no that's an M16 and he's like what and I'm like yeah that's an M16 and then I opened up the bolt and took it apart and I realized that although certain components looked similar it's not the same thing the gas Port the Star chamber are there but there are fundamental differences. I'm not saying that they're not good weapons but there's more differences than just the lack of three round burst which nobody uses anyway three round burst is a useless function unless of course your zipper patterning in front of a car to get it to back off nobody ever uses the three round burst function that's what squad automatic weapons are for like the m249 saw or mounted belt feds like the 240 or the 50 cal things that are mounted with butterfly triggers not your standard issue m4 or M16 in my unit there were still some m16s usually they were issued to support personnel the supply guys would be issued m16s and the m4 carbines would go to the line platoons but yeah although they look very similar there not the same thing at all not at all and although the civilian AR-15 variants are very lethal and have been involved in some incidents it's nothing that could not have still happened with any other semi-automatic weapon just because they look like military grade weapons does not mean that they are I'm not sure but I doubt if even law enforcement has access to military grade m16s and m4s I know that they carry AR-15s but I doubt that they are the genuine article as in real m for carbines or m16s they probably are just civilian variants because they're in need of a long gun with a high capacity that's actually a good question I wonder if law enforcement does have access to real m4 and m16s or just the civilian AR-15 variants but anyway yeah no not the same thing at all.
Law enforcement are one of the few legally allowed to have automatic weapons.
