  • TO BE OR NOT TO BE A VEGETARIAN
Greenhouse gas Emission from human activities resulted in the climate change and Global warming emergency. Productions and transportation of human foods also contribute to the global warming emergency. Choice to consume a plant-based diets are not only healthier, but also can reduce the green house emission.
Regardless of whether you are a vegetarian or not, what kind of vegetarian you are, or how often you go vegetarian, keep in mind that eating is an attitude-we eat for health. There is no food that is absolutely good or bad. Break the myth and learn about what our body needs and about what food can provide. After all, what really matters is to eat right and enjoy what we eat.
Vegans eat exclusively plant foods. With proper selection and combination, all essential nutrients except vitamin B12 can be acquired. This is because plants can live without vitamin B12 hence do not produce vitamin B12. So those following a vegan diet need to pay attention to their vitamin B12 requirement, either through supplementation or look for specific edible dried green seaweed, dried laver or green algae products that has been proved to contain genuine vitamin B12. A minor vitamin B12 deficiency manifests as anemia. But it's also involved with a lot of enzyme reactions. It's a coenzyme of many enzymes which means that without vitamin B12 these enzymes are rendered inactive because vitamin B12 is their coenzyme. The synthesis of our lipids also requires vitamin B12. Our nerve cells and myelin sheaths have lots of lipids. So insufficient vitamin B12 can cause nerve abnormalities. If it's serious your nervous system will have problems. Muscle weakness chest pain and even death are all possibilities. In contrast, Lacto-, Ovo- or Lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet has no problem with Vitamin B12 nutrition.
