I dont give a shit about how accurate this movie is to the original myth. I'd rather have this than the original anyway. source material be damned in this case.
That's pretty much Disney's schtick and it still holds true if Frozen is anything to go by. I'd be willing to bet $100 that anyone born after 1989 will have been introduced to the stories of Hercules, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, and Tarzan by the Disney films rather than the original stories or legends
KazeAizen True, but when those people are older and realize that the Disney films are based on stories, it could lead them to learn more about the original sources. So, in a way, Disney could push kids to go the library and learn about these stories when they're older
KazeAizen I would agree with all of those but Alice in Wonderland. That is definitely something people recognize from the source material first and the Disney movie second. Though, to be honest, I prefer Disney Aladdin over Thousand and One Nights Aladdin. At least Disney Aladdin took place in likely Arabia or Persia, rather than CHINA.
i prefer disney to the source material in almost all cases... those stories get rough in pretty much all instances plus the music is always catchier in these movies
Never understood the critics about historical accuracy. Disney movies are aimed at kids...imagine making a movie for kids where Gods were boning their sisters and brothers and Zeus was boning everything...yeah...nice movie to show to your kids. Lets also make all Disney movies into the original way way dark version of the fable. Like Sleeping Princess which is raped and impregnated while sleeping...that should make kids (and parents) happy. Disney even made Pocahontas 2 in a way of "you happy now? Assholes".
I want a live action remake with Destiny's Child, Lizzo and Alicia Keys as the muses. Everyone else for casting I'm not sure on tbh. But we can start there!
"That's Phil's boy." All Phil wanted was to be recognized and appreciated for the men he groomed to be heroes. After so many failed attempts, after wanting to throw in the towel, these three words finally being said were enough to make him happy for taking on the challenge of training a demi god.

Easily one of the best endings to any Disney movie! Hades is cast down where he belongs, Hercules has become a true hero, Megara has regained her freedom and found a great guy to share it with, Phil finally gains the appreciation he'd craved for so long (And from the very same guy who taunted him earlier), and all to that freaking gorgeous song "A Star is Born"! There is something so special about this song. I feel it’s meant for the outcasts who feel ignored or unloved, that you don’t have to be loved by everyone to be a good person (or to be a true hero) anyone can make it, anyone.

I only watched the full movie again last night after many years. I've only just noticed the massive American New York/Greek idioms in this movie. This is likely the most American/Greek movie ever. And I still love it. As said, the moment Phil sees Hercules in the stars, that's an amazing moment. A teacher, sees his accomplishments, while he still can.
A lot of Greek mythology enthusiasts dislike this movie because of the inaccuracy (which I think just adds to the hilarity), but they don't understand that this isn't a Hercules movie. Think about it - it follows the plot of the Richard Donner movie almost to the letter, the characters are very much like the Superman characters (sassy Lois/Meg, hothead Luthor/Hades, wise Jor El/Zeus, etc.), and there's always been a subconscious connection between heroes of myth and comic book superheroes.
Love how the song has that thick fingerstyle bass groove, then when the credits come it cuts in with monstrous slap bass... The music from this movie just blows me away.
@@PerfectlyImperfect93 in the source material, yes. Which is why he went about his 12 labors. Because Zeus, once again, couldn't keep it in his pants... Toga. Thing. Anyway, his mother named him Heracles which meant "Glory to Hera" which was just a bitch slap (the mother had no idea she'd banged Zeus) and Hera was PISSED. However that doesn't happen here as we see Hercules is born on Olympus and completed his 12 labors during Zero to Hero. In the Disney version though they don't get a happy ending either as Hades curses them to lose their memories and forget one another. Which then is the setup for the animated series.
Yep, when searching for this video I didn't specify 'Hercules' and got a slew of results that were decidedly not this song, leaving me wondering aloud "What is this idiocy?"
Just remember in the darkest hour within you heart's the power for making you a hero too. So don't lose hope when you're forlorn. -- Best lyrics ever. I love the muses!
I mean the new ones are good too(i'm a fan of the music in Moana) but the originals honestly just need more love. The music and storylines are really good and have a surprisingly low amount of plotholes!
@@perrigoingseventeen I'm glad That the redhead lady who yells at Hercules " Young man, we need a professional heroes, not an amateur! Is now a nice person at the end 😂😉
This whole song is probably my favorite scene/sequence in the movie but all these years later I just realized how sweet the affectionate head-but between Meg and Pegasus is.
Phil never asked to train a hero to be recognized for his greatness, he simply wanted to help a man so great that referring to him would only highlight how far that hero had come
Dude Aladdin, Hercules, and Tarzan have the best sound track out of the whole Disney franchise and surprise they are all male focused films (I love other Disney songs but these 3 have the most catchy ones for me)
The reason why i chose these 3 its because ALL the songs are never bring worthy, or boring to me Ima add moana to this list but take away the song shine but the rest has this vibe of fun songs
When the star scene comes and Phil cries, I get that feeling that I"ll cry too. Man I'm glad I got to be raised with these movies instead of the new Disney movies. You can never replace movies like these, and if you try to, you will fail.

The fact that the guy didn’t say “That’s Hercules!” but rather “That’s Phil’s boy!” Was the moment Phil realized not just Herc’s but also his dream finally came true. Sure Hercules was always strong, but he wouldn’t have become the hero he is without Phil’s guidance.

" I'm so glad Hercules and Meg got their happy ending after this "
Me: ........ well........
What happened
That's Phil's boy!
@@kassandrajohnson8224 you dont want to know😽
@@kassandrajohnson8224 Hera hated him and caused him to go crazy and kill Meg and his kids because of Zeus.
Everyone going on about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, meanwhile I only think about this.
came for this :D
SAAAAMMMMMEEEEEEE
Yep, when searching for this video I didn't specify 'Hercules' and got a slew of results that were decidedly not this song, leaving me wondering aloud "What is this idiocy?"
Just remember in the darkest hour within you heart's the power for making you a hero too. So don't lose hope when you're forlorn. -- Best lyrics ever. I love the muses!
I actually shed a tear when they say, "That's Phils' boy!
I got that feeling in the throat before you cry. Man after all these years, I still love the movie and classic Disney ones too.
I know it!
glad to hear from more people who like these movies and not hardcore fan of the new ones.
The muses were always my favorite thing about this movie
of all the Disney movies they've turned into a Broadway play, I'm really surprised this wasn't first.
well they made hadestown so close enough I suppose
This whole song is probably my favorite scene/sequence in the movie but all these years later I just realized how sweet the affectionate head-but between Meg and Pegasus is.
Who is tearing up to "That's Phil's Boy" in 2019??
“That’s Phil’s boy!”
*Phil cries with happiness*
It’s so heartwarming to see Phil’s dream finally come true.
Phil's dream finally come true 📹🎬💙
Aww, meg and pegasus made up lol, that was the cutest part 2 me
ive seen this movie like 10k times and this is the first time I noticed that
“That’s Phil’s Boy”, Phil Crying while Zeus makes the Constellation had balling, beautiful storytelling. FUCKING MASTERPIECE.
"Hey! That's Phil's boy!" 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ It gets me every time
Phil never asked to train a hero to be recognized for his greatness, he simply wanted to help a man so great that referring to him would only highlight how far that hero had come
the moment when Phil's dream comes true, awww tue tears still flow 😭😂😂
Dude Aladdin, Hercules, and Tarzan have the best sound track out of the whole Disney franchise and surprise they are all male focused films (I love other Disney songs but these 3 have the most catchy ones for me)
***** Eh i wasn't a fan of Quasimodo but i can see how intense and well done they were *thumbsup
IfyouBelieve the Lion King as well
Cough Mulan Cough
The reason why i chose these 3 its because ALL the songs are never bring worthy, or boring to me
Ima add moana to this list but take away the song shine but the rest has this vibe of fun songs
Hakkunah Matatah was fun but I don't like it that much. So i didn't state it but the movie also has a fun soundtrack.
When I was a kid, everytime I got a single movie CD of Disney, I know for sure that it was worth to enjoy.
I miss you, Old Disney. Where are you...
Hercules is my favourite Disney movie. It's always had a special place in my heart from a very young age❤🔥
They sound so proud, wholesome
one of my favorite songs from disney
"Hit it, ladies!"
Hercules a Star is Born 🛩🚐🚈
Why does this song still give me chills
When the star scene comes and Phil cries, I get that feeling that I"ll cry too. Man I'm glad I got to be raised with these movies instead of the new Disney movies. You can never replace movies like these, and if you try to, you will fail.
I always get chills from this song. So soulful
The lead vocalist of the muses always gives me chills when she hits high notes *_*
one of the best Disney movies doesn't seem to get the credit it deserves
i love the end with the stars 😍
Gonna shout it from the mountaintops
A star is born
It's a time for pulling out the stops
A star is born
Honey, hit us with a hallelu
The kid came shining through
Girl, sing the song
Come blow your horn
A star is born
He's a hero who can please the crowd
A star is born
Come on ev'rybody shout out loud
A star is born
Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart's the power
For making you
A hero too
So don't lose hope when you're forlorn
Just keep your eyes upon the skies
Ev'ry night a star is
Right in sight a star is
Burning bringt a star is born
Like a beacon in the cold dark night
A star is born
Told ya ev'rything would turn out right
A star is born
Just when ev'rything was all at sea
The boy made history
The bottom line
He sure can shine
His rising sign is
Capricorn
He knew "how to"
He had a clue
Telling you a star is born
Here's a hero who can please the crowd
A star is born
Come on ev'rybody shout out loud
A star is born
Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart's the power
For making you
A hero too
So don't lose hope when you're forlorn
Just keep your eyes upon the skies
Ev'ry night a star is
Right in sight a star is
Burning bright a star is born
one of my top 5 favorite animated Disney movies ever. Wish more people knew about this movie.
Hercules is my favorite 90s Disney movie. The music makes it even better
"Hit it ladies!" Love this line❤
thums up if you shead a tear when the guy said (that's fil's boy)them feels
“ Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart's the power
For making you'
A hero too
So don't lose hope when you're forlorn
Just keep your eyes upon the skies”
Phil is a hero...
Bruh the tears these women are able to bring forth❤❤
Gotta love that he didn’t forget about his adoptive parents...
This is one of the most underrated Disney endings.
Man...that choir. I mean...wow.
I remember watching this at the theater, I cried a bit.
My fav disney movie
2021, still the best Disney movie ever.
Just remember in your darkest hour
within your heart's the power
of making you
a hero too!
Back when Disney didn’t need to rely on nostalgia to make a good movie. Well, time to see live action Hercules on Disney+
underrated comment
Can't wait for the live action remake.
“Just remember in the darkest hour
Within your heart’s the power
For making you
A hero too
So don’t lose hope when you’re forlorn
Just keep your eyes
Upon the sky”
Glad to know I'm not the only one who cried when he said, "That's Phil's boy!" God, I love this movie!
Just finished Olympus Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts 2 and seeing Sora, Donald, and Goofy as constellations made me look up this song. I still love it.
+SketchBookShortFilms Just like Hercules before them, they became true heroes :')
And to think, they still have so much more to succeed at.
Am I the only one that cried watching Hercules? Like Legit balled through the whole movie? xD
“That’s Phil’s boy”
Me a cis female sheds a man tear. The manly of tears.
I cry every time during this part. "That's Phil's boy" 😭😭😭
don't you just love that the first thing he does when he comes back is hug her earth mom
he wanted to be a god from the start, yet in the end he willing to be mortal for love, you da real mvp :' )
RW:i love this kind of victory and just seeing the Constellation happen in this scene had always gave me tears of joy 🥲
what a nice story.
*currently crying*
Playing this song during the end credits of every God of War game, especially 3...wow!
Haha, if the GoW developers actually did that I would have died laughing. :p
I tear up every time Zeus put the stars in the sky... it means so much to Phil
MASTERPIECE!
