I thought hercules wasn't well received. I guess even those disney movies that weren't very popular still had a reasonable number of people who liked it though
Because of these wonderful gals I think I got my love of music. Funny story, friend of mine randomly says “and the nicest guy” with their inflection completely unwarranted. Actually, there was a black centauress character named "Sunflower" in Fantasia. They removed and cropped her out of scenes in the movie because of how obviously racist the character was depicted.
Mostly because people are stupid and claimed how “inaccurate it was to have gospel in a Greek mythology movie” and how “inaccurate their interpretation of the mythology was”, same happened with Pocahontas, and again with the hunchback of notre dame. I personally find all these criticisms ridiculous as these movies were primarily directed to children so of course they would spare them the atrocity/violence of the original stories and it’s been Disney dna to rewritten well known tales/books/history, people should stop being offended by everything

The decision to give the movie Gospel style narrators and implement that theme in to the soundtrack while still making it sound like a Disney movie is a big part of why this movie has one, if not the, best soundtrack of any animated Disney movie.
this is amazing! it makes me sad that nowadays Disney will just hire any famous actor and autotune and process their voices as if the audience won't notice. there's no replacement for this level of musicianship!!
Every single recorded song including this one has auto tune in it’s final version. You’re thinking of pitch correction, which again is used by even the most talented of singers.
@@thehopeofeden597 I am well aware that autotune is used for a lot of music today. However, there is a difference between using it to clean up and enhance what is already there, and using it to supplement what is not there in order to make something bad into something bearable. Watson falls into this latter category. You can hear the faux, electronic sound in her voice throughout every number she sings in Beauty and the Beast.
I was surprised Disney could pull Moana out of them. That movie actually made me cry. Then, came the never-ending production of live-action remakes. 😤 And now, they make it seem like falling in love as a main character is a crime. Like what the crap? That’s half of what the Disney Renaissance was.
