Don’t trash!! You have pigs that would be just fine cleaning the mess up. Turn chicken into pork it would have been fine as feed.

WOW !! Farmer Tyler, sorry but I noticed an abundance of cobwebs on your back wall of your workshop !! Hopefully, you don't have any Brown Recluse spiders there, as they can give a nasty bite (with poison !!) Take care !!
On another note, Callie looks very intently at your day-old chicks - I hope she doesn't have any "bad ideas" !! 😅

I'll never forget the first time I watched my miniature Schnauzer catch his first mouse. It was a typical winter with a snow filled back yard, where we let the dogs out to do their business. One day, I spotted Cody sniffing along the fence line where grass was still tall. He stopped, cocked his ears once or twice, then pounced just like you see a coyote do in a snow filled meadow in a documentary. Up he came with a fat mouse that he was happily swallowing. We had him since a pup and never saw him do it before. All instinct with zero training. Cali comes by her hunting just as naturally. If she saves one cow from breaking a leg in a gopher hole, Tyler will welcome her to eat all of them she can catch.

Lost everything in my freezer (a whole summer of work) when grandkids came for a visit. They got some ice cream out of the freezer (that was not the issue) they didn’t close the door all the way which was the issue. Now I have a padlock on the freezer.

Watching you from the capital city of germoney. I'm so tired of my life here. Your beautiful family, animals, farm and all your hard work are my safe space that I like to seek out after long gloomy days in the human zoo. Can't wait to leave the city behind. I love the life you created all by yourself with a hard working wife that gives you peace of mind taking full care of your children. You are decent human beings I look up to.

Btw I'm still doing everything to support my local farmers. With the little money I yet have I buy almost everything directly from farmers who take just as good care of their animals as you do. Let's support our farmers who work hard to change the world to the better. I just buy nose to tail pasture raised beef and mutton and don't go for steaks. Everyone can manage their finances so they'll able to buy nourishing meat from animals like farmer Tyler is raising.

Just when I thought I was done for the year, we are back to square 1
That rooster is a survivor, now we know why.
You can't stop a dog from hunting any more than you can stop a fish from swimming.
It's an hour I didn't have done yesterday.
I guess we start with the hard one. If we can't do that we need come up with a different plan.

A very interesting video, as always! Rice, well, that was very informative, we do not grow rice here, in Alberta, Canada, so that was pretty fascinating. Too bad about the chicken loss, and it is nice to see the limping cow getting better. I liked seeing the metal bending, too bad it was too narrow, but maybe it will fit elsewhere, like you say. Hey there! Love watching your videos. I'm going to put in a few cents worth of thoughts. Well one thought anyway! The pig feeder. Love the design except your idea of metal doors. I get you're a welder so automatically think metal but this time think rubber! Like stall mat, semi mud flaps, or you can actually just buy it in rolls. You hang over the ends and they can flip them up pretty easily AND rivet or screw the top for your "hinge". We did this many years ago for a feeder and it lasted for years and then it was just a matter of screwing on another flap. Good luck!

My uncle decided to raise hogs one time. Somehow a chicken got in the pen with the hogs. When the hogs opened the door to get a bite the chicken joined in. The usual thing was any other bird that happened to fly in the pen, if the hogs could catch it, it was gone.

Once the pig feeder is done, why not put the feeder out in the open and use some scrap wood if you've got it, and build some kind of gazebo roof over the feeder. Then you probably wouldn't need doors on the feeder, and rain wouldn't be an issue. Just a thought, maybe not a good thought! Hahaha

I lost fish, deer and Pronghorn meat the same way. Such a bummer. My freezer doesn't have a hard lock latch so I bought a child proof latch at home depot for like $4.00 with a strap and buckle that you just stick on. Its real simple to keep freezer closed, and provides a simple visual of the closed condition as I walk by the freezer.

I had no idea that’s what rice looks like. I don’t know why it surprised me…we grew wheat and rye as cover crops for alfalfa, and barley for Coors distributing. So it’s not like I wasn’t familiar with grains. I guess I just hadn’t given much thought to the grain kernels themselves, just had the stereotypical impressions of rice paddies. lol. Anyway, between the rice, the chicks, the cow and pig feeder updates and Callie’s love of life, I thoroughly enjoyed your video…as always. Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤

For heavy clay I’d look for a JD Killefer Ridger with the 1200 series sealed bearings or a Domries that use the AC-Oxnard model L sealed bearings… those Towners were made for loose sandy loam. I have had good luck buying the HD disc bearings to retrofit from AG west Distributing in Fresno and they deliver to my door. Just used their RPO 80 kit for the bearings on a heavy duty ring roller that rebuilt as I got tired of the flange bearings not holding up in our conditions.

For your water, what if you put in a shallow well pump from the local supply store on the homemade concrete outlet box on your deep well and use that to fill a pressure tank out at that well. Then run a pressure water line parallel to your flood pipeline for water trough’s. The hardest part would have an electrician put in the correct contactor so it only gets the correct power when the irrigation well is running. I have seen people do this on their irrigation wells south of us in the remote areas for “domestic” supply.
