There’s something to be said about old equipment. Can you imagine trying to get a modern piece of equipment going if it had been sitting that long. The challenges of trying to get all the electronics to work. Gotta love the simplicity of the old equipment.
Thanks Pete for another awesome video. And keeping the old equipment alive.

Hi Pete and Hillary. I reaiiy enjoy your channel. Being an 84 (next month) year old central Pa. boy your Little Genius plow video was a pleasant surprise and brought back memories of 70 years ago when l plowed for my uncle on his farm with an F20 and 2 - 14” bottom Little Genius. Still enjoy the smell of freshly turned soil especially in the spring. Seldom get to plow any more but still making some hay on some of my permanent hay fields so l enjoy your hay making as well as the every day things you two do as a great team. Looking forward to the Plow Day video . Hopefully extended or maybe more than one. I spent over 40 years in mostly commercial and industrial construction working with many people including Architects and Engineers. Had some really good teams. I understand what you mean about burn out. It wasn’t hard to retire. Keep up the good work. Many people enjoy your channel. Jim.B.

Pete, i usually stay out of the correction thing, but plow width is more easily measured as the distance from outside edge of one beam to inside edge of next beam. The chain was used to drag behind plow to pull down the tops of grass/weeds to make for a nicer finish. I think your videos are the best and thank you for all you and Hil do!!!

I just wanted to say thank you for the great videos, the haymaking, the restorations and how the farm works. Please keep them coming.
I grew up on a horse stud in NSW Australia, and whilst it was a different operation, it has many similarities, especially the love of tractors, old implements and hay making. My family’s plan is to give up the corporate life one day and move back to this, your videos are an inspiration.

I plowed a number of fields as a young kid on my grandparents farm with an "H" and 2 twelves. Got a little sleepy one afternoon and hit a big rock and "BANG" she tripped and scared the dickens out of me. I told my Grandpa about it and the next morning we dug around the rock, attached a chain, and the "H" couldn't get the rock out. Grandpa said "them dang fangled tractors can't do everything." He went up and got his team of horses and he worked that team and got the huge rock out. He told me to get the tractor and the stone boat and said maybe the tractor could get the huge stone to the rock pile. In the old days Grandpa was a logger and teamster in the Northwoods of Michigan so he knew how to work a team of 2 to 6 horses.

He didn't like the plow and traded it for an Oliver 2 bottom which I used many years. Later I had a 5 bottom with my IH 560 Diesel which made the job go quicker! Thanks for the memories.

Fun listening to the International pull. We farmed in the 60s with W9 (4 bottom) and she had the same sound. Pulled a 4 bottom with pony drill(4ft). Rode that tractor many, many hours. We would stop and try to catch baby jack rabbits when we were plowing and seeding at night. When we would start back up, we had to lift the plow. That would leave a ridge in the field where the combine would 'jump'. Biggest problem was trying to stay awake. The tractor would follow the furrow 'most' of the time. But as soon as you fell asleep, she would jump the furrow.
    Thanks for the memories.

WOW!! What an awesome video of turning the soil. When my dad began farming in 1946, he started with a new Farmall H and a 2-14s IHC plow. I learned on a 1950 WD Allis with his J D 2-14s. He had a wide front end installed so I could handle the job much easier. He would follow me with his 1949 Farmall M and a 3-14s unit. We made a great plowing team turning over 5 furrows each round. Thanks for the memories, Pete.

When I was about 9 or ten my Big Daddy was plowing with his two mules on one of our fields in rural alabama. I went down to the field to see how he was doing. He said why don't you plow while i get me a sip of water. He told me to just yell "Gee" to go and "Haw" to stop. He yelled Gee and those mules took off and I was being pulled along like crazy I started yelling Haw Haw but they kept going. After a minute my grandfather yelled Haw and the mules stopped. He was laughing and told me that was the funniest thing he was going to see that day. He said the mules only listened to him The one thing I remember was how fast those mules went and what physicality it took to handle them while staying upright behind the plow.
