    I had a Labrador years ago that had skin allergies. We spent lots of $$ at the Vets running test to find out what was wrong with him losing his fur in patches. He was put on Benadryl for itching and Fish Oil that didn't help so his Dr said find a food with Omega 6, 8 & 9 in it so we did and still had to give him Benadryl for itching for a while but the Purina One Sensitive Systems really helped him stop itching and scratching and his fur came back shiny and thick. I wish I had a Vet tell me about this herb then instead of me forcing him to take Benadryl plus that medicine only made him sleep a lot. We need more Veterinarians that treat with herbs before forcing medicine.

    nettles are very good for humans so not surprised that dogs can benefit from the anti inflammatory properties, also very rich in iron.

    Fantastic. I have stinging nettle growing on our property so can make it from the fresh plant. Great to know that it's ok for cats too.

    You should try some Silver Gel for her belly. It is very healing
    and it's not harmful if she licks it but of course you want it to
    stay on for relief purposes. Also Collagen is SUPERIOR for
    skin rashes, eczema and other itchy skin problems. A friend
    had 2 large eczema rashes for months, one on each hand,
    she took some powdered Collagen and within 2 hours the
    rashes VANISHED! It took about another week for all of the
    redness to go away and the rashes NEVER came back. It
    is a must have for skin problems. My husband has found
    great relief from sinus, allergies and inflammation with the
    Stinging Nettle also. We are giving the dogs a capsule every
    day and they are more mobile, they are large dogs. It is very
    effective an without negative side effects. Thanks for sharing
    your wisdom!!! Love your beautiful dog Tula!!! Blessings to all...

    Wow, this looks amazing. My little heeler/pit mix is constantly itching, his lips swell, and his tummy and ears are red with raised rash. I'm trying different things but nothing (other than benedryl) works. They love raw honey, so I think I'll add this to the tincture to improve the taste. Now to hunt the wild areas for fresh Stinging Nettle. Thanx!

    I am getting the dried nettle leaf from my cupboard and will give my toy poodle some nettle tea today, she is ramping up for another cortisone injection what with scratching and licking and I would rather try this. I have been giving her ACV green tea with honey for the past three months like you suggested in another video to try to combat skin allergy and yeasts on the skin. I notice she is slightly better because usually by this time between cortisone shots she is really severe. Maybe I will combine the nettle tea with the honey. Thanks! Tula yeah!

    Please tell me the name of that herb. I would like to try my Shylo on this. She's a 12yr English Mastiff. I hope it works. Have her on Benadryl now. 3 tablets every 8 hours isn't giving her much relief. I have given up to 4 and half to calm her but sleeps all day.

    My naturopathic vet suggested nettles for my cat’s allergies and we are on day 3. I made one batch and keep in the fridge; I hope that it’s still affective after a few days refrigerated. Since it tastes like grass the cat does not gag or want to kill me when I give it to him, so far.

    This is so great. My little shih tzu is actually allergic to benadryl. My vet said he's never heard of an animal being allergic to benadryl, but she vomits violently 20 minutes after a dose. I tested it for several weeks, one day a week, and always the same response. It makes me wonder if there are other animals on benadryl that also have a problem with vomiting that their owners haven't put two and two together as to the cause. And she doesn't do well on cortisone shots either. So I'm going to give this a try using a mortar and pestle to grind the leaves. Thanks Dr. jones. Laurie

      A friend suggested Benadryl for my toy poodle who has severe allergies and a seizure disorder so I gave a small dose according to what the vet said would be safe and she ended up in a seizure right after giving it to her. This was a few years ago and I have not given it since.

    Hello Dr. Andrew, I'll give this a try. I've got two Bichons with severe allergies to certain grasses and most of the commercial food, I switched to raw feeding 5 years ago and they are much better however the grass allergies still persist. My dogs are very itchy and keeps licking their paws which seem sore and the fur around it is orange. I will give this a try and hope it'll help. I also bath my Bichons in malaseb.
    One more question, what is your opinion about Apoquel ? My vet gave it to me and it worked like a magic however as there's not much research on it I took my dogs off of it. Just wondering what is your opinion about it. Thank you for everything you do x

    • @VeterinarySecrets
      @VeterinarySecrets  6 років тому +1

      Hi Bianca and Thanks- Apoquel is an immunosupressant, but targeted, and very few dogs seem to have side effects. I suspect there may be some problems long term, but IF that is the only thing that stops the allergy, then I would use it. Ideally you are trying all the holistic options, and only using the conventional ones as the last resort

      Sorry to hear that, make sure your lawn is not fertililzed nor sprayed, that may be a hidden toxin. Prayers we have a dog that has issues too but she has an inoperable bladder stone that causes immune issues so she is on and off antibiotics. She is 16 and a tough little terrier.

    Dr.Andrew my 13 year old chow/pitmix was given to me when she was born to a Mother who died because she got hit by a car. She never recieved any Mother's milk and has had a weak immune system her entire life.
    Full body yeast is our problem now, she completely healed with a raw diet and one month of ketolazone. Now that she is off ketolazone she is back to greasy yeast around her neck, itchy paws and scabs all over.
    Do you have anything natural we can try? I will try this tea, but if you have anything else over the counter I would love to try it... Poor girl is suffering in this Florida heat again and we need a little advice..
    Thank you Doc..

    Hi Dr. Jones Me and my husband just move in to new home . And we're have 5 stray cats that living in are backyard. I started feeding and taking care off them one off the cat have a hair loss looking like from chewing and itching all the times she didn't look good we living by the wood area. She might got bit by fleas. Can I use this for her she's a cat ? And how to not let other 4 cat eat it?

    • @laurapetrilli
      @laurapetrilli 6 років тому

      Hi Ratana , Are you TNR your stray cats? (trap neuter and return) You can tell if their ear tip is cut off. (see videos on you tube) if you can TNR , trap with a live gravity trap (not a spring trap) when you do that the doctor will medicate the cat who needs it. And start feeding by hand one at a time may help if you put the med in one of those soft chews for pilling a dog or cat. OK now I will let the Doctor answer ,, sorry. Im very passionate about caring for strays. I feed many.

    • @catsmommy4825

      All the cat bean fixed the ears already tipped, and they're 5 cats out there ,only one have the problem, there not going in to the cage, I try food , catnip . And what the gravity traps look like . I call Dr. They're not giving out medication unless they're see the cats . Thank you for reply 😊

I feed a group of homeless cats and I wanted to help them some how with fleas or bugs., I can hide it in their food,. I cannot get close enough to use diatamatious earth on their bodies. Thanks in advance, Laura ( I need it too mosquitoes love me,)

    • @ellenmcintyre1247
      @ellenmcintyre1247 6 років тому

      I hope, Dr. Andrew, you don't mind me answering this query? If you observe this group of cats, (y'know, hang out for a while hidden from them, downwind, on a folding chair w/binoculars). Find out where they lay down to wash, hang out, or sleep. Then, treat that area (when they are feeding) with diatomaceous earth. Be careful, if it's under a house, or another very hidden area, for recluse/black widow spiders.
      I use a bed bug duster I got online to get in crevices w/o getting too close (not to leave human scent)....hopefully the dust will have time to settle b4 they return. The DE is effective as long as its present in the bedding. Not hot, lol, Ellen🐈😇
