The Yamaha MG06X is a compact sound board perfect for DJs, bands, public speakers, rentals, or anywhere where you need a small and powerful audio mixing board!
Arnoldo .. thanks and I just got one of these. I am feeding the output of my DJ controller into 3,4. By the way these are -10dbu inputs which means that they will accept consumer level outputs such as those that come from RCA jacks. 5,6 are also -10dbu. In both cases a special cable from RCA to 1/4 inch will be needed. But where are incorrect is on the mic inputs. This thing only has two mic inputs on 1,2. I tried my Shure mic on 3,4,5,6 and got almost no output. In my case as a DJ, two mic inputs are fine. 1,2 also are able to handle line level outputs but the pad should probably be used to avoid overload. I tried this and it did work. Gave me the ability to use the eq with line inputs. In summary for a DJ such as myself with a controller that does not have a mic input or the mic input sounds lousy, this Yamaha mixer works out great. Yamaha went thru extra trouble to use high quality mic preamps. The OP amp or output amp on this mixer is also excellent. I like this so much I may just get the MG10 which was only $50 more. It has 4 mic inputs and 6 line inputs.
Arnoldo, great review!!!! I like to ask you 2 things. I play flamenco guitar and I wonder why can't I use both effects at the same time or maby you can? next thing is can I plug in my iPad and my minidisc player for recording?
Hey Arnold, i have a pioneer xdi rx controller and would plugging my controller through this mixer and then into my speakers actually make it sound better? Thank you
Great information about this mixer. Sounds like the mixer to get for streaming. Just wish it had an EQ that also adjusted mid frequencies, since my voice, guitar are both in that frequency range often. Looks great for streaming, recording, just plug the two channels I need into my audio interface, ...
Thanks for the review. Very helpful. I got a question though. I plan on getting a mixer to adjust my microphone and add other audio sources. Do you think is worth the extra $80 for the MG10X? For the sound of a voice, is it worth getting those mid frequency knobs?
So how would I add my DJ controller to this along with speakers and mics ? I have the mixon4 and want a place to add a iPhone in case my MacBook dies - also want to use better mics @gear it first
Hey Arnoldo. Thanks for the great review. Quick question. If I wanted to run a foldback, would I run it through the 'phones' input, or through the 'stereo out' quater inch input? Thanks in advance.
+Lukelegs For monitors? I'd say phones out IF you want separate volume control. Check out the AG06 review on my channel, this has a dedicated channel output for monitors!
Hi Mate I know this is an old video but I use my Yamaha mixer for the same purpose to cut some bass off so I can mix on my DJ mixer but the question I have is what settings do you have the ch 1 and 2 on with the little buttons on top of gain PAD/HPF pushed in or out. I don't wanted to drive my speakers hard by having the wrong settings. Thank you
Arnoldo (from Arnold): What setting would you advise to manage input from an alto sax using a phantom sax mic into Channel 1? I'm playing/recording with mp3 backing tracks going into the stereo inputs. They sound OK, but the sax is overloading/ distorting. I don't know how to set the pad/26db or the HPF or the gain options to reduce the signal strength. Any ideas?
great video. im actually considering the MG06 model. I have a DDJ SX and i hear for some reason the signal runs stronger then other controllers and the mic input really sucks. would you recommend the mg06 to help my speakers get a cleaner signal. thanks.
Thanks for the review, Arnoldo. I wanted to know if this can be used as a Karaoke mixer using youtube audio from a TV. My TV just has an AUX and an optical output. I have a powered soundbar that I want the output in.
I have a denon prime go and shure beta 58 a microphone .. i also got this Yamaha mixer to go with my will work live sound and singing Karaoke als 2pair of qsc k powered series speakers ... will this work audio and live vocals..
Megan, you can connect stereo outputs, the headphone jack or the balanced output jacks to your 4 track, depending upon what type of input jacks you have on your 4 track. You can also use adapters to adapt the left/right stereo outputs into one input on the 4 track or just use the headphone output to a single input on the 4 track. Again it depends on the configuration of the 4 track. Charles
was so scared for the unit falling off the wall. lol. but good review. smallest unit with all the great features. just the middle freq knob missing but the hi low suffice
Great review! I just purchased this unit two months ago, and I’m having issues connecting my DJ controller to channels 3/4 and 5/6. For some reason I can’t hear anything from those particular channels. However, when I plug in my micro controller Hercules Starlight, the sounds comes in crystal clear. Any guidance would be appreciated
Hey Arnoldo! I figured it out. It wasn’t the mixer, unfortunately it was the sound card within the controller. Recently, I used it at an event and the mixer worked perfectly. Appreciate you reaching out and trying to help me. #Blessings
arnold i was contemplating between this mixer and the behringer xenyx 1002fx....both are in the same price range but the behringer has a fader control instead of the knobs and it has many more effects than just reverb and delay...but i heard u say u like the yamaha sound...whats ur opinion on the xenyx 1002fx
Hi, a question for you.. I'm using this mixer for live keyboards using unbalanced jack leads. If I use the XLR outputs does that act as a DI box balancing the signal or would I still have to use a DI box?
I've just tried testing this myself by recording the XLR output into cubase and there was no noise compared to recording directly, so I guess it does balance the signal :)
hey Arnold I just need to ask that i have 2 condenser mic for vocals and guitar so can i use both the mic a the same time using this mixer? Means providing phantom power to both of them at a same time?
hi. i was just wondering if i can use this to plug into my pioneer ddj sz microphone input... from Yamaha MG06X output to ddj sz mic input to have a better sound?
@@GearItFirst ahhh yes I see. Volume is no issue, but maybe they will then be hard panned right and left? If so, I might have to go with the 10 version 🤔

Vignesh Ekambaram My honest opinion? Keep in mind I have experience with Behringer: I wouldn't trust Behringer to amplify a fart.
Arnoldo Offermann ..lol ...ok thanks fr the heads up
I cannot get totally rid of background fizz in mic use on the MG06X.
Does this mixer has great mic preamp‘s with less noise?

Unwanted noise that is (hissing, humming etc.)
Can o connect guitar pedals to this mixer?? Do i need extra Gear???

Okay ty Arnold :)
BTW is it worth buying for or any other suggestions for more condenser mic input mixer?
I love it.. but you may want to wait for my next review. ;)
Do these clip the bass at higher volumes like many small format mixers do?
Daniel Graves I've not seen that with this one.
Thanks for the review, didn't mention it defies the law of gravity though :D
😂😂😂
Is it possible to use delay and reverb simultaneously ? Please let me know.
No

To set up a karaoke.
Is the MG06X good for a live band? We have a problem hearing lyrics overs drums and guitars
If you only have a couple of instruments- yes.

Yes, it's a press/depress vs digital.

You could go OUT from the mixer into an aux cord IN to your sound card on your computer.
What would I need to pick up? I'm planning on heading out tomorrow.
Depends on the sound inputs on your computer
Hi, can I use this mixer for Instagram live?
Look at the AG06
How would you record to a computer using this mixer?
jch1276 Outputs into ¼" or XLR" with a high-end sound card.
So then I would need an audio interface? Or would you recommend me upgrading to the MG10X instead (I am under the 30-day return policy)?
Mg10X is an EXCELLENT choice for the application.
I will go with that then!! Thanks a bunch bud!
