    I returned that BULLSHIT Focusrite usb interface and got the Yamaha AG06. The AG06 can be bus powered or plugged in. I have no latency issues, the sound quality is superb, has jacks for 1/4 or 1/8 inch and can even produce a bit of reverb & compression. Absolutely brilliant !

    • @Texturas75
      @Texturas75 5 років тому

      What Focusrite model did you have and what problem did it have?

    • @Ston247
      @Ston247 5 років тому +2

      @@Texturas75 I don't remember the model number. Here were the problems:
      1) the setup was tedious. Not a very good app. some details were left out. Very quirky.
      2) It's ONLY powered by wall-wart (adapter). It came with a couple of slide on plugs. However, the default plug was European. If you misplace or lose the American piece.....you're screwed !
      3)The adapter was a cheap piece of crap. You can feel it's lack of quality when you pick it up. After a couple of days of normal usage, it broke. I couldn't power up the Focusrite. So, I returned that piece of garbage and bought the AG-06 ! Breath deep and smile.

      My friend had a focusrite usb 2i2, 2nd generation for streaming, and he had one of the best quality when talking on stream/discord/teamspeak I've heard. So I bought myself one, and the Audio Technica AT2035. My quality was terrible, so I considered buying the same mic he had (the scarlett solo mic). Dunno why my quality was so bad with a mic that should be better, but for my point and question:
      I bought a new mixer today, was between the Yamaha AG06 usb and the Yamaha MG10xu. I went for the MG10xu, but I'm considering maybe going for the AG06 instead cos of the size.. Do you know if I lose many eq, reverb, effect, compressor-options when downgrading?

    The Roland Quad Capture that I have does NOT have separate headset/monitor
    output, which is a huge setback for me! It has the same sample rate as the Yamaha, but less input possibilities, and it costed 1/4 more than the Yamaha! You can safely guess what my next interface is going to be! Great review, by the way. Very nice!

    Super awesome interface. If you are looking for an USB interface i highly recommend this USB interface which happens to be a feature rich mixer as well. If you are looking at the scarletts, audients and motus of the world (1 or 2 channel mic preamps), you need a genuine reason to prefer those over this God sent interface/mixer. I am super impressed by the headphone amps on the Yamaha. It is one of the sweetest and very powerful easily driving my 300ohms HD600. Enjoying every bit of this interface/mixer.

    Yeah this mixer is insane. I was working with Yamaha Canada as a FOH engineer, and I need to ask them if they can make a version of this with let's say 12 channels or more. The headset feature is especially nifty, not only because it's good for streaming, but because I can finally use my headset's mic instead of those stupid talkback microphone that you need to hunch over almost licking your board tbh ... sure I could set this up easily with a 1/4 to 1/8 jack adapter but those things are just never reliable in my experience. I could shell a third more of the price of the let's say the MG12 for a board like this. Those features should actually be the norm in 2021 for any mixer!

    Thanks for your review. I bought the Yamaha AG06 for my little home studio. I like it, nice and also the size is just perfect. Using it mainly for mixing the output signals to the monitors. Recording the guitars and Bass usually with Line 6 Helix, and MIDI with the Focusrite Scarlett. Just for fun, I recorded a (simple) tune with the Yamaha AG06 amp: @
    All guitars and bass with the AG06 amp simulation. Overall sounds not bad. The bass sounds surprisingly good (used some clean amp settings). The lead guitar pretty OK with neck pick-up (first half), but a bit thin on the bridge pick-up (2nd half). Overall workable. I did do some post processing: EQ, Compressor, Delay one the guitars (this is missing in the AG06 effects)

    Received the latest AG06 Mk2 mixer/interface, and was initially disappointed in it. It appeared as though the Mic Preamps are kind of weak, so when I connected the device to my Bose S1 Pro, I got horrible feedback when the volume is good. But with further experimenting, I found the right gain setting to avoid feedback. There are only 4 Reverb presets on the Yamaha AG Controller software, and adjusting the parameters would take a degree in engineering! I was hoping to replace my 4 year old Mackie ProDX4 mixer because it does not have 48 V phantom power. Ah well, I mostly use Dynamic microphones anyhow!
    After I explored the AG06 Mk2 further, including trying to record part of a song on to Cakewalk, I've decided I'm going to keep the device. As to the Mackie ProDX4, I guess I'll find use for it, plus a friend would like to borrow it to explore the use of PA systems.

I mess around with karaoke at home and wanted some voice effects, a decent mic pre for my Sennheiser E835 and the loopback function that it offers so I can easily record my singing with karaoke tracks playing from an app on the same computer as I am doing the recording on in a different app.

He told me if I wanted that, I would need the MGX10U (which obviously doesn't have near the adjustment of those 2 things like this unit does.) I kind of miss the ability to actually change the EQ on the inputs, because my current one offers this functionality and I couldn't live without it.
    Maybe there is a good Software solution but if the AG06 would offer something like a hardware EQ I would buy it in a heartbeat.
    Also, are the preamps good or do they create a lot of noise? (My XLR Mic has a low volume sadly)
    (Currently using my old-ish Xenyx Q802USB, don't buy if you need good preamps!)

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  6 років тому

      You can do this with the EQ button on each channel. You use the software live or you can preload it.
      GREAT pre-amps. I do my tutorials and live streams with this board.

    • @autech578
      @autech578 6 років тому

      Cool, thanks for the quick response. If that is the case, I might consider upgrading to the AG03, because I don't need that many channels and the rest of the internals is basically the same.
      But I've heard that, if you are live monitoring, the highs can be quite harsh and taxing on the ears. Do you agree with that or was your experience 'flawless'?

      That seems to be a yes. The guy is saying he got it working using Ardor and JACK without the requirement for any drivers. In the video Arnoldo was saying that it works on Ipad without drivers so I would expect it to work to some extent with Linux. The question would be whether you could use the "two independent inputs" audio interface mode and whether the loopback mode will work.
      I am guessing that the loopback mode does not require anything of the connected computer because the looping occurs in the mixer hardware.
      I would be very confident that it will work at least as single audio input with the mixed sound.
      In any event I am going to try it on Linux first before resorting to Windows if it doesn't work well.

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  8 років тому

      @Bleaqs 8 років тому

      +Arnoldo Offermann Thanks for the reply i was using loopback for the sound effects but i noticed if i had someone talking in skype they would hear them self, is there a way to stop that?

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  8 років тому

      Not really.. Skype has a delay. :/

    • @BruceBaruchMorris
      @BruceBaruchMorris 8 років тому

      +Bleaqs Loopback is DESIGNED to play back everything to the input, including all sounds coming from the computer. That will include your Skype caller, so of course the Skype caller will hear themselves. Very annoying, but that is by design. To record a Skype call for podcasting purposes, use a different mic, such as the laptop's built-in mic, for Skype. Extremely easy to set this inside Skype. That way your caller hears only you.
