I love this build. Knights in shining armor are overdue for a comeback after Game of Thrones sort of beat the boiled leather and exposed face look into the ground.
Yeah, but Game of Thrones is all about killing off important characters, and shiny steel armor makes it harder to kill the knight who’s wearing it. At least in that fantasy setting.
@@Puppet_Gamer Shame really,in the earlier seasons the Knights were actually decked out in beautiful, full plate armor that actually worked. They then proceeded to give them Hollywood armor that just looks fancy and doesn't work.
Very nice tribute and adulation to the movie "Excalibur". One of my favorites! The armor was spectacular to watch on screen with the lighting they used in the movie. What a dream come true to go get to work with the creator of the movie armor! Proly no one, if any one, recognized the glorious style of the armor you wore and the movie it was associated with. Seen many just walk on by and others looking like it was just a guy in a suit of armor.... So cool to see it worn again, though newly made, over 30 years later. Thanks Adam!
Actually, Steel armor can weigh from 30-55lbs. Edit: Full military load can weigh over 100 lbs. The vest plus front/back/side plates will weigh 30lbs for small up to 48lbs for large and more, the helmet is 10lbs, gas mask 2-4 lbs, assault pack 20 lbs (ruck being 65 or 80 lbs), 7 fully loaded magazines ~10 lbs, and weapon 5 lbs.
@@ombnonsensicalnuts7875 Around 25kg/50lb is the average for extant suits of armour, going up to 35kg/70lb for the very heaviest suits designed to be worn on horseback. Highly recommend any of the lectures by Dr Tobias Capwell (there are several on UA-cam) if you're interested in learning more!

After watching the series on how this armour was build, I never thought it was an older recording. Especially, since the building series was just uploaded in February 2019.
Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record: you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool.
Almost 3 years later & we finally get to see the build on UA-cam. It's not a complaint btw, I'm more than happy to wait for the quality content you guys put together.

lol i think you meant incognito, incogneton sounds like the name of a decepticon that disguises themselves solely as minivans to spy on people "keep your voices down, that could a decepticon" "nah, it's a kia soul, who'd squeeze into a weird little square like that? uncomfortable"
When he has the helmet down, the small amount of reverb from his helmet reminded me of an old radio sound. I love that aesthetic to sound. Makes me feel warm. :)
well vassal is pretty much any feudal subject of a lord or this case knight. Squire is pretty much the personal assistant of the period. In that at the time of said personal assistant involved, carrying shield, helping the knight with his armor and taking care of armor. Actually being vassal and squire are completely unrelated, though not mutually exclusive. The squire could be also a vassal, if the squire was for example a son of one of the knights subjects thus oving feudal loyalty to him. However at times squires were sons of other knight/ other prominent people and did not ove feudal loyalty to the knight (outside of one oath of service given as part of being a squire).
Anaru Carroll, I have no idea if the spelling changed between now and in the past. And I have no idea if Squire is the correct spelling to use. I'm French ^^"
Best Arthur movie because of stuff like that. The knights riding through the apple grove while all the blossoms fall is one of the best scenes in the film.
Haha! That is what I plan on doing when I'm able to afford a steel version, that a company happens to make here in the U.S. which is also historical, called the "Discerner" :). I'll have to display it in such a way that I can bathe it in green lights! "Excalibur . . . I call, on your power".

2019 and the videos are here. It has been a great series so far and I can't wait till the last couple episodes are out. I have always loved medieval things including armor. Every video is a treat. Keep doing great work to Adam and the Tested team. I don't get to go to all these big Cons but I hope to run into you someday.
Funny I see this just after watching Savage's TED talk about his love of Cosplay and his early experience by building suits of armor inspired by his childhood love of the Excalibur. We have come full circle.
It looks amazing, a shame that the visor kept popping open slightly. With this sort of full plate harness, an "arming jacket" with patches of mail in strategic places (armpits, inside the elbows, etc) and mounting "points" for the pieces to attach to, rather than a full mail hauberk, would be worn underneath.
You fight with the strength of many men, sir knight. I am Arthur, King of the Britons. I seek the finest and the bravest knights in the land to join me in my court at Camelot. You have proved yourself worthy, will you join me?
As someone doing medieval fighting in real armor... This aluminium thing must be a blast. I remember the last time we went to castle Hornberg and the way up wasn't usable for cars... I was done just from walking up there. A aluminium armor would come in handy in such circumstances, even if it's protection isn't as good at all...
"Are you Adam?" Of course it's Adam! Who else would have a costume like that? Great series of videos. I enjoyed every second... and it looks like so did Adam.
_Excalibur,_ even to this day, is the greatest King Arthur legend movie ever made. It just has all the things such a movie needs: Great characters, acting, direction and incredible and perfectly appropriate MUSIC. So good! So far, nothing else has even come close (IMHO).

The line was too long....they didn't want to wait, that's all.
Flinn Gaidin Wooooooosh!
Why are we woooooshing?
Flinn Gaidin That’s the sound if the joke going over your head
You're _assuming_ he was joking.
And you know what they say about assuming...
I love this build. Knights in shining armor are overdue for a comeback after Game of Thrones sort of beat the boiled leather and exposed face look into the ground.
Your voice is not of the few, but the many
Yeah, but Game of Thrones is all about killing off important characters, and shiny steel armor makes it harder to kill the knight who’s wearing it.
Full plated armor can weigh much more than that what you smokin?
@@ombnonsensicalnuts7875
At best, full plate armor is 60 pounds bro.
"Are you Adam Savage?"
"Wow that was fast."
*"gasp"*
With the face mask on and the helmet open, you look like Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Film.
RobertHarrisonBlake at least he didn't have to face the vicious chicken of Bristol
Samael do not speak of the beast or it will attack
This is so cool! After watching your TED Talk on Cosplaying and your experience as a knight it's awesome to see you wearing a full set of armor and not passing out! Cosplay dream achieved!!
You really should make Sauron's costume next time
really should
"Are you Adam Savage?"
"Wow that was fast."
Best response ever.
Excalibur is one of my favorite films of all time. Bravo!!!
Black mask was a good idea
Ha! I called it! When Adam asked on Facebook what we thought he would do for his incognito, I suggested that he go back to his roots and build a suit of armor. Nailed it! And, hey, it looks AWESOME, Adam!

I'd say he'd have a low sneak score, as that armor was really loud when he moved.
The Ginga Ninja
There's an ability in sneak that eliminates the armor penalty for sneaking, but doesn't actually affect the sound effects the armor generates.
Well… this whole series on this armor build is the best of all. I never had as much fun soaking up ideas and processes. Really fun.
Super jealous of that armor suit. Excalibur is my all-time, favorite movie because of the depictions of the armor suits (among many other reasons). I have wanted one my entire life. Excellent replica and I am sure you had an absolute blast wearing it.
Do you think Sir Lancealot used to lance a lot?.
Not as much as you'd think.
Uncle Traveling Matt ask lady Guinevere!
Uncle Traveling Matt ask prince Herbert
Lancelot got Robin Hood's chick too? Dang, those frenchmen get around.
SaveMe GrilledCheesus haha fml...i fixed it. ...

I’m not old. I’m 37.
Ohhh there you go with your class systems again.
Come and see the violent inherent in the system
HELP HELP IM BEING REPRESSED
You just stay here an’ make sure he doesn’t leave!
The whole suit is amazing, but when he took the balaclava off, and he had his messy hair, it seriously made it look legit.
When you become famous your public life is almost over
You do realise that King Arthur is my most favourite character!!!! Thank you so much for these videos!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀
-raising hand - pet peeve here. I hate when people randomly reach out to touch costume parts without permission.
Ur in public.. stay in the basement if u dont want the attention
@@douglassinclaire9968 cosplay does not mean consent
Douglas Sinclair just because you are in public doesn’t give people the right to touch you without your permission... dumb ass
One of my favourite series! Great video.
"Are you Adam Savage"
Adam:"Wow that was fast"
That was wholesome and funny to me because of the lady and Adam's reacrion
After watching the series on how this armour was build, I never thought it was an older recording.
Especially, since the building series was just uploaded in February 2019.
When Adam pulls the faceless mask off after his walk - I thought, shit... Brienne of Tarth has a twin brother?!!
The new Dark Souls game is looking real lifelike!
"Fighting in this must be such a KNIGHTmare." Nice Adam... Nice.
Thy "feather" tis actually a plume!
Almost 3 years later & we finally get to see the build on UA-cam. It's not a complaint btw, I'm more than happy to wait for the quality content you guys put together.
Adam you should have a costume of Sauron or a nazgul
Melkor Morgoth he already has
Very Big Ron really?
That would be fantastic.
UA-cam search "adam savage incognito ringwraith", it should come right up, it was ComicCon 2012. Another instance of having a nice weapon to go with the costume, and leaving it behind.
I'd love to know how many people in cosplay had randomers walking up to them and asking "Are you Adam Savage?"
All tested should do a group incogneton
lol i think you meant incognito, incogneton sounds like the name of a decepticon that disguises themselves solely as minivans to spy on people
"keep your voices down, that could a decepticon"
"nah, it's a kia soul, who'd squeeze into a weird little square like that? uncomfortable"
When he has the helmet down, the small amount of reverb from his helmet reminded me of an old radio sound. I love that aesthetic to sound. Makes me feel warm. :)
Having just watched the TED talk about cosplay I have new appreciation for the significance of this costume!
(I think he means Norm is his Squire, not his Vassal. ;-) )
One has a chance to become a knight and the other is not. I think.
well vassal is pretty much any feudal subject of a lord or this case knight.
Ari Takalo good summary. That's what I was I was refering to in my original comment 👍
Squire = knight in training. Acts as assistant to his knight.
Anaru Carroll, I have no idea if the spelling changed between now and in the past. And I have no idea if Squire is the correct spelling to use. I'm French ^^"
If you wanted to be extremely accurate to Excalibur, you would have had a bunch of random green lights shining on you from every direction.
Ok, so I was confused AF, cuz I just watched the making of the suit that was released today. I had no idea those videos were 2 years old, lol. Threw me for a loop for a sec when I see this old video pop up in my feed right now, lol. Still gonna watch it:)
I nominate Adam Savage to take the reigns from the late great Stan Lee as the patron saint of comic books.
Adam I think it's wonderful that you've had the experience of crafting this project. Your passion for this really shows in this video, and in past videos of this series. Congratulations!
Man, conventions really have turned into 100% corporate showcases. Since everything is available on the internet now, no more wandering tables upon tables full of bootleg VHS tapes of hidden, unknown treasures and surprises.
2019 and the videos are here. It has been a great series so far and I can't wait till the last couple episodes are out. I have always loved medieval things including armor. Every video is a treat. Keep doing great work to Adam and the Tested team. I don't get to go to all these big Cons but I hope to run into you someday.
The armor looks awesome. I'm quite jealous :D
Funny I see this just after watching Savage's TED talk about his love of Cosplay and his early experience by building suits of armor inspired by his childhood love of the Excalibur. We have come full circle.
The armor looks so sick and it's so cool that it's real armor made by a smith and he actually helped smith it. Adam Savage is the coolest nerd.
Imagina making a perfectly detailed sauron costume thats also 3 meters tall like sauron himself
And walking here
It looks amazing, a shame that the visor kept popping open slightly.
Ketsueki Kumori What, ridden? On a _horse_?
you're using coconuts.
Will there be punch and pie?
THE BLACK KNIGHT YIELDS TO NOBODY !! ( sorry about the shouty caps but it's needed )
Ketsueki Kumori none shall pass. None shall pass!
Also, a harnesses weight is evenly distributed across your body so it doesnt feel as heavy.
From passing out in class to a pro in comicon. Good to see Adam fulfill his goal in the making for 30+ years
"Normally in my suit of armour I wear..." The kid he was would be THRILLED that he could say that, and it be true!
Idea for a one day build: Armour display stand, for armour and sword.
Going incognito mode on chrome i see you adam
As someone doing medieval fighting in real armor... This aluminium thing must be a blast. I remember the last time we went to castle Hornberg and the way up wasn't usable for cars... I was done just from walking up there. A aluminium armor would come in handy in such circumstances, even if it's protection isn't as good at all...
2 years after the walk, we saw how it was made. Worthed every second waiting.
Knights didn't need vassals, they usually were vassals. I think he meant page.
He meant squire. You can think of it as ye olde intern.
6:53 My goodness, that princess peach xD
💀
usually in a suit of armor like that you would not wear a hauberk you would wear an arming doublet with small chairman patches on the openings
"Are you Adam?" Of course it's Adam! Who else would have a costume like that?
Great series of videos. I enjoyed every second... and it looks like so did Adam.
Fantastic! Boorman's "Excalibur" is one of my all-time favorite films.
2 years later I see the full armor just in the same time I'm looking Adam making it with Terry english
I want Lindybeige to critique this
CAPDude44 why should he? He said it was movie armour
Lindybeige would cry after seeing this awefull disney version of an armor :D
Or scholagladiatora or Ian Laspina of Knyght Errant fame. It's actually a lot more accurate than you typically see in cosplay armour.
2019 : finally saw the making of :P
_Excalibur,_ even to this day, is the greatest King Arthur legend movie ever made. It just has all the things such a movie needs: Great characters, acting, direction and incredible and perfectly appropriate MUSIC. So good! So far, nothing else has even come close (IMHO).
Your series with Terry English, you two are soul mates in that moment of time! Hope to meet you one day, you are one of my idols!
Lady: is that heavy
Sir Adam: Heavy it is not, ti's aluminium good lady
