- For 2017's Silicon Valley Comic Con, Adam goes incognito in one of his favorite cosplays--Chewbacca! This upgraded Chewie is a bit different than the Wookiee costume he wore a few years back, with a new bandolier, bowcaster, and mask. Plus, Adam rigs up an animitronic C-3PO to wear on his back, complete with custom dialogue!

Oh, I am in there, that's my R2-D2. In the heat of things I didn't fully realize how amazing Adam's costume was. Details of my R2 build splattered all over my channel for those interested... Adam was extremely gracious and complimented me on the build. I think R2 blushed.

Was fortunate enough to have a chance meeting with the late Peter Mayhew in kansas city at planet comicon 2013. My toddler grandson and I were taking a break against a large concrete piller inside the main hall when Mr. Mayhew came by on a electric scooter. He stopped and said it was good to see people bringing their kids to these things. I said, Thank you! But this is one of my grandchildren! My grandson was only interested in the scooter of course, but Mr. Mayhew didnt speak another word, just grinned and gave me a thumbs up, and off he scooted with several folks in tow. Made my con.
Rest in peace Mr. Mayhew.

Something I'd recommend for the future to wear this, is put black makeup around your eyes to make them blend more into the costume.

He doesn't do games. It's unfortunate as well, I feel he would really like a lot of them, such as Big Daddy. But as a busy man, not a lot of time for games. Especially something like Bioshock that would take hold of your life for at least a full week.
Joseph White he doesnt have to play the game, he just has to look at reference pictures and build a suit, he can use his old alien costume as a base because its similar
That's just it though. Adam has covered this topic before. If you also watch more than just a few of his videos from Tested, the only Cosplay and Models he makes are from things he likes.

I think he did. Look at that last part when he's talking without the mask on there's still some black smeared lightly on his face and forehead after he wiped it off eyes.

Amadeus, "around" the eyes, not "in" the eyes, he's talking about completing the appearance. Batman is the perfect example, search for batman impressions and notice those that black 'around' the eyes, and those that do not, the effect is immediately recognizable and distinguishable when compared. Wookies do not have irish caucasian skin complexion beneath their fur, as Adam's eyes were not shown on camera to be blacked out during the process, you could see Adam's white skin around his eyes where the mask didn't quite meet his eye lids leaving us to believe that he walked the floor without 'blacking out' around his eye's. I wasn't there, i don't know, at no point do you see weather he did or not, only those who met him can verify. trade secrets and all

He cuts a lot of corners to get these done quickly. They are impressive, but give credit where it's due to the film guys.
I mean... To be fair, he used to be one of those special effects guys who actually make stuff like this for the film, so it's only natural that the stuff he makes can be compared to the stuff on screen

Ya know, I just happened to see this video recommended randomly underneath another vid I was watching. Initially I was only a bit curious from seeing the thumbnail and title, and just thought I'd click and watch maybe a few seconds, then dip out. Wound up watching the whole thing. I think that is the best head-sculpt/hair styling of Chewbacca I've ever seen outside of the actual original costume. It's so hard to get that right - so many Chewie costumes come close but just can't nail the face. This one is absolutely awesome. Great job!

Actually I was in his video from last year and I had no idea I was being filmed until I saw the video. To this day I am unsure how I got filmed haha
No joke that happened to me at SDCC. I took a picture of Adam's incredible bear costume and had no idea it was him until I saw the tested video. I'm still mad at myself for missing my chance of meeting him:(
Holy crap, two of my favorite channels just crossed over! That guy with the mustache who had the R2D2 is CuriousMarc, with the coolest vintage computing channel. I think he works or volunteers time at one of the west coast computer museums.
Should've had black paint around your eyes. And you should've had Anthony Daniels voice for threepio, other than that perfect, that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I was at SVCC also on Saturday, cosplaying as an anthropomorphic wolf in colonial-ish garb. I had stopped in the cosplay lounge that Tested set up to rest, water up, and get myself neatened up. When I put my head back on and was adjusting myself, a person nervously approached me and quietly asked, "Are you Adam Savage?" I was flattered and amused, not knowing that the "rawr" Twitter hint had been sent out.
I think I'm more fascinated by the awesome box Adam made to store the head in.

Absolutely amazing!!! If I may just make one minor constructive criticism. Some black paint around the eyes to cover up the skin under the mask. Such an amazing costume and the animation of C-3PO is so cool!

Finally with the Under Armor, from the bear to the Totoro I couldn't believe you weren't wearing any. xD I fursuit/cosplay for hours at a time at conventions and it would be impossible if not for it.
Does it actually cool you? He says "it wicks heat away from your body", but the reality is it wicks sweat away from your body, so it just makes you dry, and gives the illusion of cooling, right?
Jaden Oldfield It pulls the hot moisture off your body and allows it to evaporate faster, it enhances sweating, basically. Cotton holds the sweat and creates an insulting layer, keeping your sweat from evaporating. At least from my experience. Also, when you do take a cool down break you'll cool down so much faster in UA.

I think the "technology" marketing of UA is ridiculously overstated... but in general synthetic materials can be made much thinner and have more stretch than cotton... so a lot more breathable. Also, I just made that shit up... but it seems plausible! Lol... all I know is that when I work out in polyester vs cotton, i don't have to change my shirt after
OneManShow the R&D I have done at the cloth shop is Polyesters don't breathe but cottons do -so better off with a fabric mix of cotton/polyester type

I think Adam mentioned in a podcast something about the animatronics in 3PO got kinda messed up and he didn't find out until he'd already put it on. It's supposed to move more.

Looks like the motors started to fail as time went on. The voice was clearly working but i couldnt see much movement. Still an amazing costume build though. Adam is a great guy and does amazing work. I miss mythbusters.

Again seeing you out there with the full outfit is one of your best one day build cosplays you ever did. You could have added a remote and a com for someone walking with you, to have 3PO move around and talking interactively to strangers....that would have been over the top of the top (which it was alreadY)

Glad to see Chewie is remembered with Adam Savage dressing up as him. I miss the great Peter Mayhew. He was the soul and joyfulness of Star Wars when he played Chewbacca. 😊 Adam Savage did a brilliant job being in that suit.
