Even with the 'turn TV' on setting enabled, my switch (HDMI 1) will change the input channel but not turn on my a95k like my other devices (HDMI 3 & 4). Does it work for you?
I have my A95K here as well. I love it, but for Xbox it wasn't immediately love at first sight, lol. For some reason the default settings give me significantly raised black levels on XSX. Night time in Forza Horizon 5, or Shadow of the Tomb Raider, RDR2 (etc) looked washed out, like as if brightness was raised. A night race in FH5 should be dark, but the sky was like medium blue instead of dark blue, looked very off, very bad. I didn't have this with the S95B at all. So I lowered black level on the TV to 46,Black adjust to high and it's way better now. Strange, because I heard from others that the out of the box settings were great for them for Xbox.
Hmm thats interesting Sonys have more black detail than lg has if you had a lg oled before they typically crush black detail more. are you using hdr or sdr? And did you do the hdr calibration on the Xbox settings menu?
@@Brytech1216 Yep, I did all the things possible before resorting to quite drastic measures. It's with HDR. I have not tested SDR a lot yet, but with HDR it was way off. I also tested Dead Island 2, night time was so strangely bright and washed out, it just wasn't right. When I did the HDR calibration on Xbox I turned tone mapping on the TV off first, did the three steps. After that I turned the tone mapping on, also tried it with off, but couldn't get it looking right without altering the black level and black adjust settings. Also, does your Sony A95K recognize your Xbox? Here it just says HDMI Game. Whereas with Switch it calls it Switch.
@@bigkabuto did you set the first two sliders on the hdr calibration to 1000? You can do this by clicking rt plus lt and rb and lb at the same time it will show what nits it’s at. Don’t follow when the squares disappear Sony TVs always have tone mapping. And the last slide the black level set that to the the lowest possible or 0.
@@Brytech1216 Hmmm, well, what I did was I set the first one all the way to the left. The second and third one to the right until the icon disappeared. I forgot to check if it was 1000. I will try this tomorrow. I know that Forza uses the system HDR settings, but RDR2 and Dead Island 2 don't iirc. So while for Forza it would make sense that it looked wrong, for the other games not really. I also spoke to someone today that had a A80j and he had the same thing as me.
@@bigkabuto Yeah i might make a video today going over my xbox settings so you can watch that! and rdr2 does have hdr issues. if you look up GamingTech on youtube he does really good hdr settings videos i believe he's done rdr2. I had the a80k before and it did have more detail in black scenes then the lg c1 i have. i think sony just has a different way of handling blacks. Lgs tend to black crush so it seems more contrasty.
I mean there are limitations to the switch obviously with it being 1080p max. But the Sony TVs typically have better upscaling for lower bit rate content and with the reality creation setting it can smooth out a lot of the jaggies you see in switch games. It’s not a miracle by no means but it does help.
@@dante19890 we can only hope! Like the tegra x1 chip came out in 2013 they need a massive upgrade especially with the likes of steam deck and now the asus rog ally on the way

Why not use HDMI 2.1 port with Switch? Assume Switch’s graphics don’t need it or can’t use advanced features of 2.1 ports. Lmk 😀👍
The switch doesn’t have any features that 2.1 is needed for. It’s only 60hz so doesn’t need the 4K 120 capabilities of hdmi 2.1

@@dante19890 I agree since it’s native resolution is 1080p but most people have a ps5 or xbox as well so a 4K tv is preferred for those consoles
