just got one myself!, dont know if i want to try and give it 1000 RMS or stick with the alpine recomended 900 rms.... built a box already tuned to 32hz. only running 800rms though =[
I just purchased (2) R2-W12D4, box building in progress (sealed 1.1cuft each) Should i match them with alpine R2-A150M (run at 1ohm) or dual S2-A120M ( run at 2ohm each)
@@hektik1984 A sealed box makes a sub flex less cause it has to take 30% more power compared to ported but this 1 moves more than their previous models still a small 2.38 coil
Hey did yours sound like crap until it was broke in? I bought one of these and I think it's the worst sounding sub I've ever heard. I probably have about 5 hours of playtime on it and no matter how I tune it, it sounds like shit in a .76 cf sealed box. Powered by a Rockford Fosgate Power T750X1bd rated at 1067 watts rms. Any tuning suggestions?
Matt, did your x-type sub sound better after you broke it in some more? I just bought the 12 inch version & am planning to put it in a .94 cf sealed box. Got nervous after reading your comment in regards to your .76 cf box. I have read that the x-type subs can sometimes sound horrible if the jumper pin (“series- parallel”) isn’t pushed in all the way, essentially causing the sub to only be utilizing only 1 of the 2 voice coils. Hope you were able to get it sounding nice.
@@MrUkielover Yes, break in did take a while (much more time than any other sub I've owned) and it did help. I ended up getting a dsp for my truck and was able to fine tune it using the eq. Definitely took some work, but it sounds good now. The jumper pin was not the problem. I posted on another video and the guy replied saying these aren't the best subs for sealed enclosures. Said he hated his in a sealed box, then got a ported one and now he loves it. I think you just need the tools to tune these subs to your liking. Good luck with yours. These things do hit hard!
I got 2 pairs, sorry I'm late lol but personally I believe these subs sound best in a ported box . I had them in sealed enclosure and when I switched there was a big difference.
That subwoofer is suffocating in that small enclosure 🤦🏻♂️ I hate seeing badass subwoofers not being used correctly and to their full potential due to uneducated ownership. That subwoofer needs a enclosure around 2.5cuft if ported. It would sound and be at least 10x louder
So I have a box built already for my Rockford power hx2 12s and was looking to store those 2 subs for a 6th order. So now I'm looking at what I can put in my already custom box. I believe right now my box is 4 cubes after port and sub displacement. My port is 8inches X 17 Inches long its a octo port. I believe my speaker displacement is .21
God bless that thing has way more excursion than I thought!
I have 2 of em
The surround makes it look like a PA sub but damn I didn't expect that much excursion. Very nice
They are made that way so they have a higher excursion
I ain't no alpine's can move like that that's a crazy amount of excursion!
I got 1 Type X 10 on 1200 RMS in a 2020 Mustang its killer simple setup! Very under appreciated sub!
Hell yea! Alpine fan right here and I just got a pair of X-W12d4’s in my Ford Fiesta hatch! Can’t wait to see what they sound like!

In the Fiesta!!! Damm!!👍👍👍

Damn boy it hit harder than my step-father belt 😀
Hahahahahhahahah
Looks like a alpine baseline surround on a different cone
Beautiful 🔥
Apline always 🔥🔥🔥🔥😜💯

That looks smooth

Ya I need more juice, pushing 2 12" type x with 1500rms in a ported enclosure. Need another 1000rms.....lol they barely move....
Lol. These are gonna flex harder then yours cause it’s in a sealed box smh….

where did you buy that box?
does the whole car shakes
It shakes, but not too much. There are a few areas of concern for rattling
El xmax del sub está medio al límite ahi?
si, mas o menos :) Mas watts limpios pronto
Es de 900 rms
Would it be Louder if it Was in a Ported Box ?
every sub is louder in a ported box

Box is 0.67 cubic feet which is what it calls for in a sealed application. Suck eggs.

Distortion central. Tune your amp properly lol
No distortion. I used an SMD clipping indicator and dialed it in right. Cell phone mic doesn't reflect that.
