One of the most underrated female artists/voices of all time. "Original Sin". Some people think the only hit she ever had was "Tell It To My Heart". But, she had many hits in the 80's and 90's and even a couple of club hits in the 2000's. Love her music.
I wouldn't say underrated, I'd say underplayed and likely ignored!! Her song "I'll Always Love You" is a favorite of mine. "Original Sin" from one of the Batman films is arguably her best! If you haven't heard it or forgot, check it out.
I would say she's very underrated vocally. She's got a serious set of pipes. She can sing softly and then in the next note put effortless power into it. She's really good, I think.
Yes, she was overshadowed by Whitney Houston at the Arista record label. After that second album, she wasn't that big of priority for the record label.
So funky “Tell it to My Heart”was my daughter’s favorite dance tune she would do the “ Cabbage Patch” This one was my favorite slow jam! Taylor Dayne was an awesome vocalist!
I don’t mention Taylor Dane more because her voice rips out my heart, stomps on it, and sets it on fire. She kills me every time. No hype needed. She’s phenomenal.
Taylor is one of the hardest working singers in show business, and it reflects in her music. Grew up in a blue collar area, she was liked and respected.
Taylor Dayne is incredible. A voice that carry some of the great vocals of our time 'Prove your love' 'I will always love you' 'Dont rush me' 'Ill be your shelter's , Original Sin and more. Take another look she'll be worth the journey
Taylor Dayne's voice is the most beautiful I've ever heard and her vocal range I've also never heard anyone reach that level. And also observe her interpretation. His voice seems to come from the soul and with great spontaneity. She deserved much greater recognition than she got.
I remember listening to Taylor some back in the 80s, then lost track of her until recently. When I found her music again I was amazed how her voice could just explode with power. She's got an amazing set of pipes. Very underrated.
Taylor was one of the pop queens of the 90s. "Prove Your Love" is a banger, as is "I'll Always Love You" (no, not the Whitney song, lol), "Don't Rush Me", "With Every Beat Of My Heart", "I'll Be Your Shelter", and "Heart of Stone". She also did a cool cover of Barry White's "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love". She's now 61, and it's been 15 years since she released an album. I think she's due!
She was on the Mask Singer and got pretty far on the show. She was doing appearances at the Apollo for a while. Not sure what she has been doing since 2018.
Thank God you finally have Taylor Dane again. This is my favorite song. This song has actually brought me to 😢 tears. Just reaches into your soul. Yes my Love came back. We are so Happy 😊 50 + years together ❤️
This song always brings me to tears, but I don't think it's the lyrics. It's just the awesomeness of the song & probably remembering a time when we had a lot of songs like this coming out. Today's kids/teens don't have that. If they're smart or lucky, they will discover these songs anyway.
Taylor Dane was the bomb in the 80’s. We lived on the dance floor, dancing to her songs. Prove your Love & Tell it to my Heart 2 killer songs Also saw her in concert a couple of times. She has a powerful voice!
@@vh1984ful Right! OMG We would have so much fun dancing all night. We were so lucky to grow up in the 80’s. We had such amazing music. When it came to the dancing, we had enough songs to keep us going all night!
She was so underrated! I feel she needed different people behind her who knew how to market her powerful voice. Her voice was bigger than a lot of her songs, if that makes sense. This song is one that suits her perfectly!
She is notorious for having a very strong voice!! This is my absolute favorite song of hers! But her song "I'll Always Love You" will show off her voice too as well as "Don't Rush Me"
Taylor had that rare quality where as soon as you heard her start to sing you knew exactly who it was because she didn’t sound like any of her contemporaries. My youngest daughter loved her from the time she was a little, little girl. I remember her walking around the house or riding in the car singing I’ll Be Your Shelter which, I believe, is her best song. My daughter called it the Na Na Na Na Na song lol. Would love to watch you listen to that one some time - Jay may even call it 🔥!!
What a gem! I saw Taylor Dayne in a small venue in Springfield, MA in 1992 or so. She had a live band and was so good. Later that year she came back through, and I gave my mom tickets to see her for her 45th birthday. She loved the show too!
Finally … I Love This Song!!! What a Powerhouse!!! Her voice was gold!!!!! Saw her in concert and her voice is gold!!! She has soul!!!!!!! She was on the mask singer and got far on the show!!!
Her song "I'll Always Love You" was the song in my wedding where the whole wedding party danced to. All her songs bring back great 80s memories. What a voice!
I've been crushing on Taylor since '88. Being a rock musician, on nights not gigging we'd go to the dance clubs to you know, listen to dance music. 😉 Taylor's songs and voice reigned supreme back then for me. Which speaks volumes as her contemporaries were Madonna, Whitney, Paula and Janet. Taylor is still a powerhouse and a stunner! 🤘
A chart-topper written by Diane Warren, whose other hits include "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship (co-written by Albert Hammond), "Un-Break My Heart" by Toni Braxton, "How Do I Live" by LeAnne Rimes, "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher, etc...
Another 80's lady who had some killer songs is Karyn White. She had a run of top 10 hits that included Superwoman, The Way You Love Me, Secret Rendezvous, and Romantic.
Yeah, you definitely need to react to her "I'll Be Your Shelter", "Original Sin", "Heart Of Stone", "Don't Rush Me", "Prove Your Love", and "With Every Beat of My Heart"
This is what is known as a torch song, and it was a perfect pairing of singer and song. Lord have mercy, as we say in the South, Taylor’s vocals on “Love Will Lead You Back” are gorgeous. And her sultry looks in this video compliment the music and lyrics (by the prolific Diane Warren) which adds greatly to the overall effect. The video was high on MTV’s rotation list on it’s release, and I found myself watching MTV for hours at a time just wanting to catch this video. I was much younger then and mesmerized by what I was seeing and hearing. Now I’m much older, and I’m still mesmerized all these years later.
Love that y'all picked this one today. One of my favorite artists of the late 80s. Please do "I'll Always Love You", another one of her great hits. Nice sax solo in there too.
To my ears, Taylor Dayne has one of the most unforgettable voices in music history. It's a shame that you seldom hear her music or even her name anymore. Her vocal style comes from a place deep in her soul and it grabbed me from her first hit (1987's "Tell it to My Heart") and never let me go. Her vocal performance in this song is my all time favorite of her entire career. The intense belief that love will one day bring him back to her is sung with a conviction so deep that only a fool would walk away from a love so strong knowing full well he'll be back. As power ballads (and relationships) go, this one has the ability to tear your heart out and beat you with it until you come to your senses. Well done Ms. Dayne.
Taylor Dayne is my girl!!!! I was stationed in Hawaii when she came out with her album with this song. I was into the dance club scene and she TOOK over the dance songs, the slow songs, everything. and her powerhouse voice had no equal!!
Dana says- Taylor Dane was a powerhouse, so it might not surprise you to know that previous to her becoming a chart-topping pop star she was a classically trained opera singer. Those pipes are golden.
No forgetting Taylor Dayne again. Come on, she’s so great. She’s so gorgeous. And her voice brings a glow like a power in your soul. Even still. She did a great few performances on “the masked singer”
She was extremely under rated In Her time. In her day. She had a lot of competition Mariah, Celine, Whitney the list goes on. But she’s a force that’s for sure.
This song was EVERYWHERE when it came out. I think it was #1 or at least top 10. Taylor was a powerhouse vocalist. Don't Rush Me is one of her most memorable ones. She has this perfectly pitched scream. Unforgettable.
This is my favorite song by Dayne in what turned out to be (in my opinion) a surprisingly short-lived career, as far as hit songs were concerned. To this day I'm still stumped as to why someone with such an amazing voice wasn't more consistent or last longer in the music industry. BTW, that's all her, no vocal enhancements. She has a serious sets of pipes. I'm not certain that they had those types of (software) vocal enhancements back in the late 80s, other than volume controls on the mixing board.😉 Peace & Love🕊❤
I literally was just playing both of the Taylor Dayne songs mentioned in this video yesterday and bragging about her voice! I kid you not! She was one of the best singers of that era and I still love her music. This is not the first time I have starting playing an older song out of the blue..and you guys then feature it here within hours..or a day at the most. Amazing!
I simply cannot fathom how she is not as famous as Whitney, Mariah, etc. This girl is phenomenal.
One of the most underrated female artists/voices of all time. "Original Sin". Some people think the only hit she ever had was "Tell It To My Heart". But, she had many hits in the 80's and 90's and even a couple of club hits in the 2000's. Love her music.
Totally underrated voice from the 80's. She can really belt out a song.
-underrated is so overused-
Yes, she was overshadowed by Whitney Houston at the Arista record label. After that second album, she wasn't that big of priority for the record label.
And she can belt out a song so effortlessly!
"I'll be your Shelter" is another great song by Taylor Dayne
This song was written by Diane warren, one of the most successful, if not the most successful songwriters ever of the 80s 90s. Hit maker!
She’s one of those singers who sing like they aren’t even trying. And it’s perfection.
So true!
So funky “Tell it to My Heart”was my daughter’s favorite dance tune she would do the “ Cabbage Patch” This one was my favorite slow jam! Taylor Dayne was an awesome vocalist!
The fundamental singer for me. The way she open her mouth the breathing techniques❤❤❤❤❤ all attributes👍👍💪💪👊
I don’t mention Taylor Dane more because her voice rips out my heart, stomps on it, and sets it on fire. She kills me every time. No hype needed. She’s phenomenal.
She’s one of those singers that don’t need a mic. She has the power!
She looks bigger too.
SPEECHLESS...SHE IS REALLY AMAZING AND A GREAT ARTIST. LOVE LOVE LOVE HER.
She was very big in New York because she is from Long Island. She made us proud.❤️
One of the most under-rated singers from the past...love her!!
Criminally underrated artist. One of my favorites from the 80s. Glad y’all reacted to this one, probably her best song, IMO.
Mine too
Not really, blue-eyed soul!!
'I'll be your shelter' is my favourite so so so so many hours fo the 80's listening to @TaylorDayne
Taylor is one of the hardest working singers in show business, and it reflects in her music. Grew up in a blue collar area, she was liked and respected.
Was? IS! 👍
Cannot go wrong with 80’s music. Amazing vocalists back then. Ahhh nostalgia the best time.
Taylor was up there with the best vocally ❤hell yeah 👍
Taylor Dayne is incredible. A voice that carry some of the great vocals of our time 'Prove your love' 'I will always love you' 'Dont rush me' 'Ill be your shelter's , Original Sin and more. Take another look she'll be worth the journey
I second "Original Sin"!! Pure 🔥 🔥 🔥
Not her real name.....Great singer...!!!
From my neighborhood.....Long Island, New York......A BIG 1980's Star.....Disco Era......My era......SHE IS AWESOME......STILL ON TOUR......!!!
Taylor Dayne's voice is the most beautiful I've ever heard and her vocal range I've also never heard anyone reach that level. And also observe her interpretation. His voice seems to come from the soul and with great spontaneity. She deserved much greater recognition than she got.
Taylor deserved a better musical career! Love the song and your reactions
Nothing beats those 80s ballads … this is an all time favorite
'I'll be your shelter' and 'Can't get enough of your love (cover of Barry White's song)' are 2 of Taylor Dayne's songs that will blow you away.
A very strong female vocalist, a very memorable song, Taylor Dane is underrated. She sing with heart and emotions!
So powerful, strong and passionate voice she got! Amazing! I love and still listen to all of her beautiful songs!👍😃
She is classically trained vocally…she has a very powerful voice.
I remember listening to Taylor some back in the 80s, then lost track of her until recently. When I found her music again I was amazed how her voice could just explode with power. She's got an amazing set of pipes. Very underrated.
Taylor Dayne brings me back to high school. One of the most phenomenal singers to this day. She still sounds like the record live!!
80’s was all about power ballads and Taylor was one of the queens. 👑
I've been dying for you to do more Taylor Dayne! Her voice is amazing!!! I loved her, totally one of my very favorite ladies of the 80's!!! 😂 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Taylor Dayne is one of my all-time favorite female artists.
Taylor is another blue eyed soul sister . She sings with so much soul.
I'll be your shelter - has always been my favorite song of hers.
Ha! This song brings back so many memories. I sung this for a recital when I was 13.
She has such a beautiful powerful voice
Favorite song by her chills
You DEFINITELY need to hear her sing “I’ll Always Love You”. It’s amazing.

You are lucky. When my first love left me this song was popular. She never came back but I have been happily married for 38 years.
Taylor Dane was the bomb in the 80’s. We lived on the dance floor, dancing to her songs.
Prove your Love &
Tell it to my Heart
2 killer songs
Also saw her in concert a couple of times. She has a powerful voice!
Too much fun tearing up the D-floor to those in the clubs in Hull, Quebec.
@@vh1984ful
Right! OMG
We would have so much fun dancing all night. We were so lucky to grow up in the 80’s.
We had such amazing music. When it came to the dancing, we had enough songs to keep us going all night!
This, in my opinion, is her best song. I love this song and she kills it!
She had a lot of great songs in the late 80's & early 90's. This one is my absolute favorite! It was a #1 hit in 1990.
"I'll Be Your Shelter". It's an absolute beauty.
She had lots of great ones, but that one tops them all.
She was so underrated! I feel she needed different people behind her who knew how to market her powerful voice. Her voice was bigger than a lot of her songs, if that makes sense. This song is one that suits her perfectly!
She is notorious for having a very strong voice!! This is my absolute favorite song of hers! But her song "I'll Always Love You" will show off her voice too as well as "Don't Rush Me"
I love this song. So powerful! She’s a dynamic singer. I’m 73 years old and this tune is on my massive playlist of great tunes during my lifetime. 😊

Heart of Stone. Another top 40 hit from the same CD as Love well lead you back.
She really does have a beautiful strong unique voice.

This song always brings tears to my eyes for some reason she’s so amazing her voice and lyrics🥺❤️🩹🙌
When I had my first heartbreak at 22 I played this song over and over. Unfortunately, love never lead him back 😢
My mom used to listen to her music so this holds a special place in my childhood heart lol. I wish they would make songs like this again
Love that y'all picked this one today. One of my favorite artists of the late 80s. Please do "I'll Always Love You", another one of her great hits. Nice sax solo in there too.

Taylor is definitely a great singer. I didn't recognize the song until she got to the chorus.
Love Taylor Dayne!!
Taylor Dayne not only has this incredible soaring voice, but she could’ve won any beauty contest.
When I saw her live she blew everyone away…..her voice is raw power….just like Linda Ronstadt….she would back up from the mic when she belted it out
Awe one of my favorite songs from Taylor Dayne. So much feeling she brought to this song very beautiful.💜
WITH EVERY BEAT OF MY HEART. Awesome song. She had so many hits
Taylor Dayne is my girl!!!! I was stationed in Hawaii when she came out with her album with this song. I was into the dance club scene and she TOOK over the dance songs, the slow songs, everything. and her powerhouse voice had no equal!!

Taylor Dayne powerhouse voice and not bad on the eyes!
'I'll be your shelter' and 'Can't get enough of your love' are two of Taylor Dayne must do songs. She is amazing.
Power, emotion and relatable lyrics. We had that then. Taylor Dayne is such a treasure.
There goes one woman I can never forget! 😊

She's still Touring and sounding great and was even on the show the Maked Singer.. or something like that...One of my favorites..
You should definitely add her song "I Will Always Love You" to your list. One of the great all-time love songs.. perfect for weddings.
Taylor Dayne has such a soulful voice..... SO underrated!

Perfect song, perfect delivery. So much power & emotion all these decades later still gives me goosebumps ❤️🙏
