Having done medical contracts in Cape Cod, Boston and Worcester. I miss me some MassHoles!!! Great people!!! I actually really liked Worcester I love everybody I met in Massachusetts I love their attitude and I love their straightforwardness. The winters are pretty long and dreary though.
An overall good description of Massachusetts with a few exceptions: we pronounce it Berksheers. Worcester is not quite the ghetto he lead you to believe. Worcester has 9 great colleges, a thriving biomedical research industry, a revitalized downtown. 01602 was recently named as one of the top 10 hottest zip codes for real estate in the US. Springfield does have some nice sections in which you can buy a great house for a fraction of what you'd pay in Boston.
I grew up in Mass and left 9 years ago for a job in California. Hard to believe if you are from Mass, but California is crazier and expensive than Mass. North Carolina is the next stop, having lived there for 2 years some time ago, I am sure this will be an improvement. Great video.
Born and breed in Boston and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love your videos and found this one accurate and funny. You failed to mention East Boston, my neighborhood. We do pay alot in taxes but generally you get what you pay for. We just got a tax rebate from the state because our rainy day fund had too much money in it. Covid turned a lot of state economies to dust but Massachusetts flourished. Keep up the good work Nick !

Oh which town are you in? That’s cool, I’m in Rutland, the geographical center of Massachusetts. That’s our only bragging point. I like NH better tbh, but it’s still nice here. The house next to mine was built in 1722, and was a tavern. There was minute men that hid in there. They jumped the red coats and ran them out of Central Ma. They had marched down a major road(a dirt path then) but the battle took place in my yard, around 2 acres and was a horse pasture. We are in the woods, but it was all fields as far as you could see back then.

I long dreamed of moving back there, but as I got older, I realised that the politics just wouldn't agree with me at all. Furthermore, since the last time I was there, most of my remaining family there either passed away or moved down south to Florida, so there really isn't much left for me there other than my beloved sports teams. Of course, I still miss it there, though...the four distinct seasons, the beautiful nature throughout New England, the history....maybe one day it'll be suitable for me to go back.

You should do a video on the witch towns in America (would be good around Halloween). Salem, MA would be number one on the list. Start with those towns that have the most mystical shops.
@@NickJohnson No, that would be a bad idea indeed. If you read much about the witch trials and hangings in Salem, you learn very quickly that it was just heartbreaking. It was horrifying and it's awful that it has somehow been romanticized.
Thanks for talking about the Boston Celtics! It feels like no one ever talks about them a lot, but rest my case when the Boston Bruins don't get talked about a lot.
"Most of these places" have too many tourists and are overpopulated. Millions have the same idea you do. But if you reeeeeally want to look at some colorful leaves, or watch a ferry boat, fine. But there are even bigger ferry boats across the country in Cali.
This is very accurate, especially the map at the beginning. I live and grew up north of Boston where the beaches and killer flies are. The “green heads” aren’t as bad as they used to be. That is the name we have for those flies which have a brightly colored green head. They hurt wicked bad when they get you. They are around only for a few weeks out of the year, in the middle of summer.
Thank you! Have loved Geography & Cultural/Regional statistics since I was a kid in Japan. Had several Atlases & would compile lists of facts about each country... its capital, dominant religions, races, population, etc. Fascinating, the regional differences in Mass, as I saw for myself in Connecticut during the 2 years we lived in Brookfield Ctr, CT (adjacent to Newtown). Amidst these tough times, I so appreciate your interesting, educational, fine work & research... and particularly your delivery & unexpected "flat" or dry humor. It is so damn funny. I've thought about moving to Massachusetts because of how much better the schools are there. Honestly if I was raising kids and I could afford to move anywhere in the US I'd move to Massachusetts so they could have a much better education. At 32 it may be too late for me to have success in college especially since I dropped out of junior college at 24, although maybe I could find something too if I could afford it. Yeah, that don't go over well when your date asks what you wanna go do. Let's hit the bike trails and check out a graveyard. Seeing the headstones of soldiers from the Revolutionary War, French & Indian War, Civil War... It really makes you think and feel grateful to these brave men and their wives that came to this country. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here. Mass is not a cheap place to live, that's why we call it Taxachusetts but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Its home
Yes! As a fellow masshole I concur!! The rail trails for biking are some of the most beautiful....and the cemetaries some of the most historic and eerily beautiful.
