Ein sehr sehr schöner Film von einer phantastischen Landschaft hervorragend in Szene gesetzt! Danke fürs Anteilgeben an einer sicher unvergesslichen Wanderung.
Excellent, beautiful video. Very atmospheric. Loved the speeded up sections coupled with slow zoom out, so good. I’ve been through this area three times in winter on ski. Also beautiful, but seeing these autumn colours makes me want to go there at that time too. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks do much for you kind comments. We love the Autumn in northern Sweden and have also trekked parts of the Kungsleden and in Sarek (check out our other videos). We have though about snow shoeing the northern bit of the DHW when the huts reopen after the Winter. Regards, Martin and Sharron
@@EtherealLightPhotography I can certainly recommend winter as well! A different kind of beauty. And it’s very amenable to snowshoe. I can also recommend a slight detour from Salka. The valley to Nallo is superb and worth a day to go into. An alternative I did was to go from Alesjaure to Vistas down the Visttasvsggi one day. Then did Vistas up to Nallo , another incredible valley, and went on to Salka in a day. I didn’t see anyone else. It was incredibly beautiful and atmospheric.
Thanks again. We liked this route perhaps even more so than the classic northern part of the Kungsleden . The Dag Hammarskjöld Way is highly recommended.
Eventyrsoren Denmark brilliant, well done. Video mostly done with a Panasonic lumix fz1000, although it was beginning to show some focus and jitter problems in this video. The camera had suffered being blown over whilst on a tripod a few years previously and the lens was repaired. Now replaced by a lumix GH4. Timelapse all done with a Pentax K1 full frame camera
This is epic. This vid would not be out of place on the discovery or national geographic channels. Really really enjoyed it. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! Your films are made in a manner that I would like to do. In this quality its always a pleasure to watch - an for free;-) I will watch this again on the TV with my wife. She is not a trekking fan, but also likes good videos and documentations! This year I was almost in the same area. Sometime only 3, 4 km away from your trail! Heini
Heini, thanks so much for your support. We love your films too, and are relishing the thought of sitting down this Christmas and watching them on our HD widescreen TV. It's in a box at the moment as we're frantically trying to finish off some DIY in the lounge, so something lovely to look forward to. Merry Christmas you you and your wife ;-)
Breathtaking, wonderful video and excellent choice of music. Masterpiece! I will hike the same trail in a couple of weeks, can't wait! Thanks to you I can leave my camera at home, it won't get any better than this. Thanks for sharing!
How lovely to hear from you! We were only talking about you the other day as we are thinking of getting a dehydrator to make our own trekking food! We often comment on how delicious your chili con carne smelt!!! ATB :)
Greetings from Sweden! I wish to bring you a big and warm THANK for uploading this wonderful video recording from your beautiful hike from Nikkaluokta to the far northern Abisko! Autumn colours together with the excellently photographed high mountains (fells) are amazing in the lofty profiles that your video is skillfully portraying! So please keep up with your good work behind the video camera also in future! Wishing you ATB and safe and enjoyable hikes in future! Best Regards!
CHRL Mlln thanks for your kind comments. We are presently in the Faroes then Iceland before driving our Land Rover defender up to Laponia this autumn (2018). Looking forward to be in your lovely country again. Martin and Sharron
Cinematic nomads you are, beautiful, awesome, breathtaking scenery. Patiently filmed and edited. What a treat folks! I absolutely love the kind of people that don't over sell their channel because the quality speaks for its self and you guys are an example to us all. Sheer Beauty captured! want to go tomorrow:) Tim and Mandy
Aww, thanks, guys! Glad you enjoyed our wee film. The beauty of the Arctic speaks for itself. No special skills required really. It's a place we both feel totally at peace in, and the pull to return is simply irresistible. You and Mandy would love it! GO! :-)
Amazing video! On my bucketlist forsure to hike the trail in autumn aswell! Amazing views and autumn colors. Thank you for sharing! Look forward to see more from you.
Anneli Kapsi thanks for your kind comments. This trail and the kungsleden offer fantastic walking with both marked trails with huts/camp sites and remote wild self supported routes. We’re up here in northern Sweden at the moment and did a walk to get the fantastic view over rarpadalen (see our Instagram page).
Wow! We just got back from hiking in norhern Sweden and also got some great views to Rapadalen :) Amazing to find like-minded people. All the best to you and I hope the weather is great aswell!
Anneli Kapsi glad you got the view too as the weather closed in it started raining just after sunrise. We hope to another walk in sarek and/or go to Finland for the Bear Trail
Yes the terrain is similar but a bit higher peaks. This trail is well used but there are other parts where you could trek for several days on your own.
Yes I was going to say what you say there regards the height of the peaks etc etc, but once again, does look remarkably like the Scottish Highlands, remarkably so. Thanks.
what were the exact dates of your start/finish? I really want to go when the colours are as beautiful as in your video, but i’m not sure if that’s already the case around the end of august (20-25th maybe?) Or in your experience, do I have to wait until mid-september for that? thanks!
The Autumn colours vary from year to year depending upon the weather. From the first of Sept is usually OK. Snow can arrive from Mid-Sept and some huts close at the end of the third week of Sept - check STF website. Last week of August may be OK but again depends on the year but biting insects might still be around. Check our blog for a detailed description: purplepeakadventures.com/blog/2017/12/off-grid-in-arctic-sweden-trekking-the-dag-hammarskj-ldleden
Thank you so much for this wonderful video! Hiking on Kungsleden is on my bucket list. But after watching this video, I'm thinking whether I should change my plan if I have to choose one of them.
R&D, this place would be just the ticket for you two. You can potter along well marked trails, or use them as access points to break off and do your own thing for weeks on end with a tent. Thanks for the thumbs up. Love the film of your recent romp though Lakeland by the way! :-) M&S
Athip Sweden thanks for your nice comment. We did this in mid September 2017 just before the huts closed. This year we did a trek through Sarek and look out for our video later this year when we get to Ireland
Magnificent - those time lapses were stunning! Are you for the MV do this year? Your photo of the church and Poison Glen with the long lens must be a good bet for Photo of the Year. Highly original.
Hi Adrian, thanks for your kind comment, and glad you liked the time lapses. It's great to have the time to be able to shoot these properly by using our tent so we can benefit from being in the right place at the right time! Not yet decided whether we'll be at the MV meet this year - it's a long way from Donegal to Dublin!
Pär Viktorsson thanks for your interest in our video. Most of the filming was done in 4K using a lumix Fz2000 (we now use a GH4). Timelapse done with a full frame Pentax K1 dslr. Martin and Sharron
Thanks for your comment. The aurora (northern lights) are caused by solar flares which can occur at anytime and are presently of increasing frequency in an 11 year cycle. For the aurora to be visible requires solar flares to hit the earth, clear and dark skies. You can check solar flares and aurora predictions on www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/space-weather-enthusiasts In our experience the night skies in northern Sweden from early September onwards are dark enough to see the aurora if present and the skies are clear. To the naked eye the northern lights don’t show much colour but photos of a few seconds exposure work well. Martin and sharron
@@EtherealLightPhotography Thank you very much for that clear explanation. We will have a look at the website. Hopefully we have the opportunity to see them. Thanks again.
