I watched this video last night, but I felt I needed to come back and comment today. This was one of the best videos I’ve seen of a documentary type hiking adventure on UA-cam. Amazing job…
Loved the video, everyone who you met on the trail seemed sooooo sweet, other hikers on the trail is definitely one of my fav part about hiking/backpacking!
Prachtige beelden, prachtige natuur...erg mooi in beeld gebracht.
I'd recommend hiking this trail even layer in the season, as in beginning-middle of september. Why, because of the northern lights! It is magical to say the least
You have done an amazing job of capturing the scenery and together with the wonderful narration and storytelling, this is truly a masterpiece. I've been hiking Kungsleden and the surrounding area every summer for 3 years now and I miss it every time. My longing for Kungsleden eventually led me here. I recognize what you discovered about the people and the many stories that gets carried around Kungsleden. Every story that is shared with me enriches and improves my hike, thank you for sharing your story and the story of the amazing people you met along the trail.
This video showcasing the beauty of the Kungsleden is absolutely nice! The stunning landscape shots make it definitely worth seeing. Watching this has me itching to lace up my boots and embark on my own adventure along this remarkable trail. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring glimpse of nature's wonders!
5:43- 6:06- There is a thousands and thousands people, including me, can prove that this is a Wonderful Feeling! Looking at your movie I have impression that it was a wonderful journey, isn't "Start Hiking"? Thanks for sharing! 🤝
Wow! You truly captured the beauty and serenity of the Kungsleden. I hope to return one day - and this time I hope the weather allows me to get up Skierffe!
Thank you for filming, informing and sharing with us behind the computer screen home.. One day withe in the next years I / we will walk Kungsleden in North Sweden :-)
This was absolutely incredible, man. A friend and I are doing a piece of Kungsleden in August and this video put my level of excitement through the roof. I didn't expect there to be so many mosquitos up near Keb and Abisko. I will bring a mesh face net. Thanks for putting this together.
What a superb video. Thank you for taking the time & effort to document your hike so we can all enjoy it. Really well filmed and edited. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Very nice film! I sat right behind you when you did the interview with the hut warden at Singi, just having my lunch. I got your business card and have been looking for the movie to come out for a while. Now a friend sent it to me and I realised it was THAT movie. Great work and nice to see the interview after the fact :)
Hi! I recognize your photo! Great you saw it and liked it. What a funny coincidence that a friend sent you the film you were actually a witness of, haha. Small world after all!
Huge country huge landscapes, huge video, very interesting comments. Congrats 👏🏼 I liked Could you tell me if camp fire and dogs (siberian husky) are allowed all along the trail? Thanks
Yes they are! Dogs are allowed ON the trail, but not off the trail on side tracks like the one to Skierfe. Campfires are fine as long as you leave not trace and preferably use already established pits.
What a captivating and scenic documentary! 👏Did not realize how quickly 30 minutes passed by. Thank you for sharing this! Hoping to complete Kungsleden one day as well
@@paulihnatolia1848 sure! I used the Sony a6300 with sel18-135. Mostly shot from a carbon tripod or some rock or handheld. I used the rode videomicro for audio. I did some minor color grading in post, but just to balance the image. It meant to be quite natural :)
Well done!
Hello! Very nice video. Nicely narrated. I actually met the same young Swedish couple that lived in Kiruna as you did. So we must have been trekking at the same time for parts of this journey! I trekked through Sarek and then up the kings trail!
Absolutely beautiful film and I love the cool vibe from all the hikers. Would seriously consider this trail if I had time and a solution to the mosquitoes.
Thank you so much! I hope you get to take some time off to hike this trail - it's incredible and so worth it! As for the mosquitoes: I hiked in August, but towards the end of my hike the numbers of mosquitoes were already smaller. In september they are almost gone entirely, while the views are even more spectacular as the surroundings turn to bright autumn colors! Might even catch a glimpse of northern lights! However, there are chances of lower temps and snow and the days shorten quite fast. A great compromise would be to start halfway or at the end of August. Starting late in september does also puts some pressure on your shedule as the boats are taken out and the huts close at the season's ending somewhere towards the end of september.
Absoulutely amazing! Very nice impression and high quality footage! Well done! We are planing our trip to sweden, was very helpful. We are looking forward to it
Thanks! :) I was hoping to hike and film past fall, but since everything went into lock down that didn't happen. We'll see what happens next year! Would be great to maybe visit Scotland. Skye trail or even Cape wrath trail? Who knows 😁
yep, planning is tough right now. scotland is also on our list, but maybe local german semi-long-distance-trails are easier to plan and execute, although one always has to dream ahead :) good luck with your hiking plans and stay safe!
@@hackerblubb thanks! Yes, Rothaarsteig would be nice now with the snow! We'll see if we can hike again soon. Thanks for watching and hope you make it to Scotland once things open up again! Stay safe
Great video and hike. Can you fit a foot print to the Scarp 1 like the Hilleberg tents or do you place the foot print on the ground first. Really enjoyed watching and subbed you. Thanks Steve.
Hi Steve! It's not a feature, but maybe with some DIY skills you could connect a footprint to the corners, as there are clips in the corners for the inner tent. However, I didn't use a footprint. The floor of the tent is extremely durable and has served me for years without groundsheet with some precautions. If you would like to use one, most Tarptent users take a tyvek sheet and place it under the tent flooring. Tarptent even sells tyvek foot prints to the exact measurements. I would use it in extremely rocky areas or desert grounds. Although on the kungsleden you have to be careful with the scrubs too.
Great documentary! A thought from someone who plans to walk the trail. Did you pick up packages of food at all the restocking places, or did you shop under the road at some point?
Thank you! And great to hear your planning too. I shipped food to resupply points along the way: Ammarnäs (supermarket), Jackvik (supermarket), Kvikkjokk (fjallstation), Saltoluokta (fjallstation). I emailed them beforehand to ask if they could hold my parcels. The fjallstations have a system, you pay a small fee. For one: I planned my food to my hiking planning with regards to calories and stuff. I also wanted to eat REAL Turmat, which they don't sell along Kungsleden. Most of the food is Adventure Food and some other brands like 24H meals. That is the third reason: supplies are limited. Freeze dried food is not sold everywhere, and when it is there are just a couple of flavors to choose from. And fourth: the prices along the trail are steep, so shipping is not more expensive while you get to pick your supplies as you like. I also shipped toilet paper, toothpaste and snacks like chocolate etc. There are supply points along the way. Ammarnäs has a supermarket. Jackvik a big supermarkt with a small selection of freeze dried food. The Fjallstations and some huts also sell a small selection. I relied on these places to hold my parcel, but also to buy gas canisters (primus), ice cream, chocolate, and other snacks to supplement my own. Because you can not have too many snacks when out hiking! One thing to consider is the post in Northern Sweden. It is very unreliable. All my parcels arrived, but some took 3 weeks (while the Dutch post estimated 3 to 4 days). Based on the labels, some parcels went through as much as 4 different postal companies.
