Think you need to watch your own “Why I want an F-type” video to remind yourself why you bought it. Could help ;-0 When I was your age I never even could have considered a car like that. I was too busy raising children, paying off my house, building wealth, trying to deal with payments on family hauler cars, etc…I never could have justified a purchase like that, as much as my brain was wanting one…lol These F-types were ringing my bell for sure, but just teasing me more than anything. Fast-forward to now, I just purchased a 2024 F-type R Coupe. It will be a low mileage non-daily driver for those times where I wanna enjoy the car. Our 2 daily drivers will deal with family matters. I don’t see any other way to use such a car with a family situation. This car has been on my dream list for many years, among other cars, and your videos helped me make the decision to go ahead (among others). Good luck with your decision. I plan to hold this car, especially with the backdrop of the EV movement. Cheers
"TooTallToDrive" exactly that would be 1st reason i will say sell F-type. 2 on UK roads, car dosent unleach fun to fullest unless motorway or NSL roads. 3 its satisfying to look at the car and be proud that u own that sexy jag but im sure if you make a list of what would u want in your next car, you would have more boxes to tick off as jag ticks off currently. Good luck
Your day-to-day driving conditions aren’t gonna change unless you move to France, so if you tie the driving environment so closely to your enjoyment of the vehicle I can see the problem. Then if there is any aspect on top of that where the payment is putting unwanted pressure on your finances then it’s not hard to see how these decision to move such cars along can get made. By your logic you won’t be able to enjoy any sporty vehicles I suppose.
The very fact that you are asking is your answer. The pinnacle of ownership has been surpassed with your experience of the Swiss drive in the Jag. You could always go to the Lake District in it. But, I think your gut is telling you, if I may say, is that you've ticked the box of the Jag, and now the 600 sobs/month just doesn't seem to be warranted. Sell the Jag buy a cheaper hot hatch and have some fun also, saving a bit no doubt. I just hope you don't regret it. I regretted getting rid of my J VXR, it was fully loaded and the handling was just bloody great. But I have a cheaper hot hatch to throw about so I'm covered and my Jag, well, I'm still loving it, the start of that V8 :) Good luck with whatever you decide buddy.
@@tootalltodrive I know what you mean, but the choice of car was right for you at the time. Like I said, you have ticked that box and ticked it so well too!
I completely get it, I’m already planning the next car maybe it’s because I miss the excitement of looking for cars and test driving them. I also think even after only 6 months of ownership I’ve ticked the box. I like the speed, I like the sound but it’s just not practical. I know you said not a sports car but I think you would’ve been happier with potentially the Quadrifoglio but hindsight is a wonderful thing
I miss my F-type everyday. Lost mine a year and half ago due to a careless driver blowing throgh a light and totaling my Jag. I have been looking everday for the right replacement F-type. It was such an amazing car, it was a like looking at a piece of art iny driveway everyday and it made the hour and a half i had to drive eveyday exciting, spirited and more enjoyable. I miss it and will replace it when i find the right match. If you have lost the joy for the i would fid something else that brings the passion back. Some people just think of a car as transportation but i have a passion for cars and love the Jaguar F-type. Truly sad that this year is the last modle run. No more combustion enjine sports cars in Jags future, a sad time.
Sorry to hear about your Jag that is a shame, think having a car taken away from you is different to giving it up. I took the car up a hill climb yesterday and had a great day so will be keeping 😁
Dude I had the EXACT same thing after I got back from Switzerland last year, I kept the Alfa for a bit but knowing I wasn’t going away in it this year I knew it was time for a new car to experience.
Keep it! I had a similar thing with biking before I got my Ftype. As soon as you sell it, you'll regret it ( if you can afford to keep it) The Switzerland thing is the same as coming back off holiday blues, it'll pass. If it doesn't move to Switzerland and still keep the car!😂
Maybe pick a couple of nice days and just go and drive it hard, with no agenda. Try and remember why you got the car and if it still doesn’t continue to scratch the itch, move it on. Mine hasn’t moved much recently, but on the rare occasion I get time to use it, I remember why I love it so much Love the (new?) time pice by the way! Seamaster 300?
Yeah fair enough, could do with a summer in the U.K. first all we got is rain 🌧️. Yeah, part of the reason why Switzerland was a little more than expected 👀😂
It’s up to you. You will know if you’ve fallen out of love with the ftype. Sell it and buy BMW z4 3.0 . I am still in love with my ftype but I might have to be more practical and change it for a Range Rover Sport becausof my grey hair.
I’ve had a similar experience with my F-Type, the Austin Healey 3000 before it, and the Triumph TR4a before that. Eventually you run out of interesting local drives, and without a destination that is interesting, your interest in the car wanes. You won’t find the F-Type easy to replace and you might end up trying to buy another if you sell it. No ‘hot hatch’ will come close to the performance or the special occasion that driving an F-Type brings. If it’s a money issue then sell it - it won’t be worth more next year and the next major repair bill will be very unwelcome.
It’s got warranty and I always renew warranty. Right now money is fine so not needing to sell for that yet. Got to re-mortgage next year so that could be fun… 👀
If it helps, I sold my F-Type V6S after 3 years back in Dec. I'm now in a new Supra (may not be great for your height), but it's a much better car in the real world, definitely better suited to our British pot holed & narrow back roads. The F-Type always felt too big and clumsy on our UK roads, probably why you enjoyed it so much in Europe. I'm using it far more than the F-Type, it's a better car in every way, other than perhaps the character the F-Type has, looks are of course subjective. Makes a great daily, but also the first car in a long time I've just wanted to go for a drive for the hell of it, so much fun. F-Type had been my dream car for a long time, but moved on and wouldn't look back. Having a 10 year warranty vs my F-Type reliability\quality experience means I also sleep much better :)
You are right on the height, supra is too small for me. I think you are right, my f-type still has a warranty on the car and I will keep renewing for piece of mind. It’s what can I get next… the Supra is still a sports car really, there isn’t anything built for my height on the market to stay in a sports car
Not sure the Supra is “better”. They are very different vehicles, especially when you are talking R/SVR, so I don’t feel they are really comparable. But hey, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a BMW Supra, but that’s just me…lol
I get where you’re coming from. I’m currently in a Porsche 981 Boxster S which is my daily driver which I love but I’m also in the market looking at other cars (the F type V6S being one of them!) in your opinion could you daily the F type? Don’t have the luxury of having 2 cars so want to be some what sensible. Let me know what you think!
Depends on budget. I imagine fuel is similar to 981 S. I did daily the F-Type when I had a 5 mile commute. However, I am now 35 miles each way so isn’t possible. I think the F-Type is a great daily sports car!
You’re young. You have plenty of time to experience many different cars. So sell it and move on. I love my F type R but never use it for tat’ing about. I just use it occasionally but I’m much older and am not bothered about changing for a different experience. In fact you learn to love familiarity when you’re getting old.
Yes of course you’ll regret it and there’s nothing that offers so much prestige and performance for the money. They’ll still be a steal if you want to come back to the F type. Go have some fun and get a V8 in 20 years time.
@@tootalltodrive worthy of a test drive, I had the option of a mk4 Cupra hatch or the mk3 R ST. Have to admit that the R ST won and it's been great but I know you had the mk3.

Have 2 cars and alternate, I drive my wife's little Audi A1 for a couple of days then I jump in the F-Type and it blows my mind again and again 😁👍
I have a daily and I drive about 2 hours a day, so I really need a reason to drive the car or else feel like I’m driving to work
I'm with you on that, a few days in my TR7 or RS Twingo, back in the Jag I'm home again (very soon)

It’s definitely the Swiss effect I have F type R and just use now just as a tour car and only drive it occasionally in U.K.
Yeah listening to Behind the Glass and hearing Tony doesn’t drive in the U.K. (fun car) does make sense
