What is the cost of my Jaguar F Type ?
Really like the spec with the light interior, and fairplay getting that MPG.
Great video! Looking at buying an ftype and I never considered the v8 but I might after this👍
Honestly you should!
Back when the UK M4 motorway was an endless speed-camera-enforced 50mph construction zone, I would regularly get 45mpg on the Reading to M25 section, and on two occasions [by being ultra careful] actually managed to touch 50mpg! Since then, with a new Quicksilver exhaust and back to normal motorway speed driving and enjoyable country lane motoring, I generally average around 35mpg (this is in a 2015 340PS daily driver 75k miles, and fueled probably 90% E10 + 10% E5). As commented earlier, this is a car for smiles-per-mile, not mpg. But having said that, my F Type will create less total CO2e between now and when I retire, compared with the CO2e from manufacturing a new eg Tesla: smiles-per-greener-mile as well as being a comfortable reliable daily with a great background soundtrack! 🙂
Great summary - and it just shows that these sports cars can be a true daily driver for those that need that. However, for those that don’t care it will truly make you smile! 😃
V8 economy lmao who cares You want economy go buy a Prius soon as you hear the crackle popop pop bang you forget about economy fkn love my V8 AND THOSE NEW AUDI HEADLIGHTS ruin the jaaaaaag look whats your thought is V8 BETTER TO DRIVE THAN V6
It wasn’t a fair test personally because I had the AWD V8 and the V6 is RWD and I drove in mostly a wet Wales… Will do a proper review soon!
Are you sure you’re looking at average not instant 😂. Doesn’t seam to be changing much
I can confirm it was average 😂
Did you fill up with standard E10? May find better results using super…I’d presume that’s what’s designed for the car
Yeah used E10 - future proof the video 😉 Didn’t want to spend extra on fuel that isn’t my car lol
Not bad mpg if it's a 4 cylinder
Yeah and being a V8 even better 👌
4 cylinder I would expect 36
wow dude.... you should report this establishment to Jaguar/Landrover headquarters .
Yeah, hoping for a full update soon.
@@tootalltodrive yea if you do report, wait until you have your car back !!
Crazy your F-Type not back yet...😮
Yep been over 2 months…
I usually get 35mpg on long motorway journeys and once achieved 40mpg on a 50 mile stretch in my 2016 F-Type R V8 AWD 🙂👍
Nice! 👌
hate this trend of skinnier front headlights
I wasn’t a huge fan, but it grows on me during the videos I did with the car haha
Very interesting. I collect my used P450 RWD in a week and will have a 380 mile trip home so will be interesting to see how it performs. Expecting mid to late 20's as average speed will be 70mph(+). Probably no worse than my old V6S. When you do the exhaust video, be sure to remove fuse 5! Hope you get your V6 back soon!
Thanks, it’s been 2 months and still no repairs… 😪

No cost, not sure how I managed to get invited but did haha
@@tootalltodrive Nice one looked like a cool day.

One of the best sounding V6s especially considering the price difference between the V8 and V6 it’s a great value car
Agree
i cant believe u fit into that car so easily !! i've never been in a mini. and you guys have the narrowest roads i've ever seen in UK
BMW are always good with seat adjustments, and definitely one of the improvements with Mini being owned by BMW
Just got a d240 velar for £250 a month
Tell me how? 👀
@@tootalltodrive they can’t give them away. Go for one for £28k or less with 50k or less miles get a broker to do the finance.

I have a 2017 v6s here in Brazil. Had a similar problem when the car had around 12000miles. After a month waiting I was informed they needed to replace the hole engine, including the supercharger. The fix cost was more than half the price I paid for the car 4 months earlier. I love de design, the engine sound and the driving experience of the f-type v6, but jaguar has turned my sports car dream into a nightmare.
That’s my worse fear, and with either I sell it in 7 months or keep forever it’s a really hard decision.
Diesels are trouble. Do they not do a P250 or P300 ? Or P400
They do, but not sure the MPG would be great for what I need. 80mile round trip
@@tootalltodrive MPG in my aluminium jag p300 seams good on a run, so see what the figures are. Hopefully petrol will be less money on repairs.

Are you sure you want a diesel Velar? They too use diesel Ingeniums. Also the armrest splits so you can access the cubby and still have the other person rest their arm
Yeah the luxury of the daily is great!
@@tootalltodrive that particular engine is a ticking time bomb
Both my kids are in their 20s - I 100% concur 🤣
Haha!
Don't buy a SUV, it's a stupid kind of car (and ugly) :) Moreover from those who broke your F-type !
Got a good point, but I didn’t choose the tall life haha - it’s just too comfy lol
Swallows Racing in Bristol might be an option for your brakes. I think they do an upgrade kit too.
Thanks, will check them out
Wow, those prices and the waiting time! 😢 Sounds like the first dealership did not what they were supposed to do, very frustrating for you. I think, from my experience, it is always a hit or miss with this, Jaguar ones or independent. I had a lovely experience with an independent in Dublin for a very reasonable price and the same issue in Germany 2 years later for triple the price. But also Jaguar charged me 8 Euros to change the key battery once, lesson learned and they didn't find the fault with the exhaust. Two months later, after the issues blew up, another Jag dealer told me this fault must have been there a long time. Best of luck with the warranty! Hope you can get the car up and running again, such a shame.
Thanks, hoping it won’t be too long before I’m bag in the Jaaaag!!!
An additional comment that I made earlier, I must say that I totally love my F-Type. It’s a pre production car (built in 2012) and it’s a bit special. Firesand with carbon blades. So beautiful that my wife has now taken it for her own. To give you some idea as to what I think about the F-Type, I’m going to purchase another one, a coupe. Had one before when I was commuting weekly to and from Eindhoven and it was perfect. This time I’m looking for a 5 ltr one. So I’ll be 2 Jags! Just steer clear of the 2 ltr. That engine has probably led to the demise of the Jaguar brand.
Nice! I want to keep the car but don’t want to be taking a loan every time I need a repair haha
The centre vent issue is really a simple quick fix. It sticks because the design is poor using a plastic on plastic swivel without any lubricants. Mine has failed 3 x but now it’s out of warranty I simply fixed it myself. There are several UA-cam videos showing how to do this. Re the brakes, as someone has already commented, you can save a lot by buying genuine parts on eBay and either fitting them yourself or getting an independent to do it. I paid £300 for the fitting.
Yeah, will look into this if/when I get the car back 😂
looking to buy an f type, after this horror story will probably stick with bmw, best of luck with warranty claim.
Yeah I suppose if you were buying one you just need to check that it has had repairs or else I feel something will be due
All expensive sports cars need repairs and maintenance, every brand and model. BMWs can be some of the most expensive to repair especially via a BMW dealership!!! Wait until it goes wrong one day.
@stewartmoss5624 has a point. All cars tend to go wrong… don’t let this put you off. Just make sure it’s been well kept and you should be okay
@@stewartmoss5624 cheers stewart,my bmw 220d is 10 yrs old bought from new, serviced when needed my local garage, not guess the price at bmw! and its never missed a beats will look at a jag and as you say make sure everything checks out, regards john.
@@johnwhitehead4809 good stuff, good luck with a search. They’re great cars available at good prices now, but like all complex performance cars, they do need looking after! I’ve been thrilled with mine so far which was bought as a nearly 10 year old vehicle (2014). Whilst there are always genuinely unfortunate tales like this subject video, remember you’re not hearing from the many other happy owners of F-Types that haven’t had an issue.
I recently replaced the front brakes on my FType V6S and I found the parts (genuine) to be much cheaper on eBay. I picked the front discs, pads & wear sensor up for £400 and fitted them myself however a local independent specialist quoted £80 to fit them if I wanted. I’m happy to provide part numbers if required and the garage I use typically is Julian Ferraro Jaguar Specialist in Salisbury. Not that they need any further marketing but I have also used ModStock recently to replace the valves in my backbox as they were rattling (common issue). That alone cost £420 but I also opted for the mod for an extra £420 (which I’d 100% recommend) My suggestion would be to persuade Jaguar into fixing majority of the issues under the warranty such as Injector (especially!), heater vent, sensors etc then head to a specialist for the rest. Hopefully you’ll have a happy Jag back soon!
Part numbers for brakes would be great thanks!
After a very unsatisfactory visit to my local Jaguar franchise, with repeated visits not fixing issues, I found myself looking for a local independent, and found Powerbell Services in Taplow, a dedicated Jaguar independent. I was nervous of using an independent, but they have turned out to be totally first class, I have used them for the past four years now, from 25k miles to 70k miles, they are good at finding things, they are candid about what needs fixing and what can wait and what options are available (very helpful - most of us live within a budget!!) and they are good at fixing things. Result is the F Type starts fine, runs fine, and has never broken down - 71k miles and still amazing to drive.
Completely agree, even though we own sports cars we still have a budget, just because we buy cars doesn’t mean that money is suddenly Monopoly money
First dealer is to blame. Disgraceful service.
I agree to be honest, but hope second dealer rectifys there issue as they are the same group. Second dealer has been great so far
@@tootalltodrive That would be the right thing to do. Good luck.
Yeah Jag dealership costs for brake discs & pads are nuts! I got quoted nearly £2k including discounts. I asked how many they do & got told not many, I wonder why 🤔. I've just brought OEM plus parts for under £500 & labour to install from my local mechanic £200! Guess that extra £1300 pays for them fancy showrooms and free coffee and teas.🤦🏼♂️
Think you are right, won’t be getting mind done with dealer that’s for sure.
I am the warranty lol
Covering me for £7,000? I’ll send you my bank details ;)
@tootalltodrive sounds like the warranty already cost more than a used engine 🤦♂️
I have a Jaguar V6 P400, My rear exhaust flap had seized like yours but wasn't covered under my warranty. So I took it to modstock that just welded on a new exhaust actuator.
How much was that if you don’t mind me asking? Love the 400 sport!
@@tootalltodrive Thanks, it was £420 for just the values, but I also got a back box mod to make the sound a bit more raw so it cost me £780 in total.
@@habiledrift7327 to be fair I don’t think that is too bad. I really need to hear a modstock exhaust vs mine haha

Yeah might have to!
My 2019 R-Dynamic has 49,670 miles. Last week it BLEW. I had it towed into my Dealer Galpin Jaguar in Van Nuys California. They determined it was a single, failed bank of fuel injectors. My manufacturers warranty ended last October so I was SCARED. They put it under an EPA warranty and fixed it FREE...in only 6 days! This is my second 6cylinder F-Type and the first breakdown in 170k...🎉💚💨
For free in 6 days? Well that beats me over 30 days now… and don’t know if I’m covering the cost lol
Do you have a 6 or a 6s?
I have a 6 but the 6 s equivalent because they discontinued the 6s in 2017… so mine is P380
Don't know if you have been complaining (perhaps rightly so) at this 2nd garage about the delay...but if so do you think possible they are hitting back, a bit vindictively, with this gougey list of costs ?
Not sure, they have seen the UA-cam channel lol (hi dealership, in case they are reading this lol) I hope they are just doing their best by the customer (me)
