I love this style of game, and the characters not being tiny sprites on the screen is a nice change I didn't know I wanted. Super excited to see more of this.
Monarch Edition in the bag. So excited, been on a Fire Emblem upswing lately, and I feel like I've been waiting for this game from Vanillaware since Grand Knights History was canceled for the west. These recent previews have it looking better and better every time. THANK YOU RPGFan, Atlus, Vanillaware
Very insightful, informative breakdown. I wasn't totally clear on what this game entailed. Now I'm definitely more interested/intrigued. Thanks for sharing.
Hoping Alain is a defined protagonist with a backstory and narrative arc. Burned out on the blank slate protagonists that Fire Emblem has been serving up for the past decade.
Thanks for the vid. I really didn't understand what this game would be like from the trailer, but this breakdown definitely helped me get a better grasp on what to expect. Really love Vanillaware's artstyle and the Fire Emblem/Advanced Wars gameplay, so this looks like something I'll definitely pick up.
@@dragongamerrylucius Atlus was the publisher for a few of the games, but the company that created/developed Ogre Battle was called Quest. Definitely Ogre Battle type feel to this. I'd go more with the original Ogre Battle as a comparison, as that also utilized a 3 by 2 player grid. Ogre Battle 64 utilized a 3 by 3 grid. along with team attacks (multiple members would attack at the same time for extra damage). I would love to see that feature added.

I'd say the main uniqueness of OB64 was the group fighting mechanics (multiple members would team up and combine their attack). Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can do group attacks / abilities in this, unless I missed it. I would love to see a good tactical game utilize that feature from OB64. I'd say this game is closer to Ogre Battle on SNES, as that also utilized a 3 by 2 player grid, versus the 3 by 3 grid in OB64.
Monarch edition pre-ordered ✅ Cannot wait to unbox that beauty. I hope the game will be readable in handheld. Oh and it's such a pity that the horses die and not just the riders. 😢 So grateful for multiple difficulty levels.
Dude I am beyonddd excited to play this. There's so many cool games releasing lately. I literally just bought Death Mark II the other day! I'm drowning in games. May I ask how you were able to peep this one early? An event or they hit you back perhaps? That's super rad though! Happy for ya!!
Its funny that just yesterday, I started playing Grand Kingdom as it has been in my backlog forever. The battles in Unicorn Overlord seem to play kinda similar to Grand Kingdom. Of course, Grand Kingdom doesnt have the Vanillaware art style though. Looking forward to this game. Thanks for preview.
@@LightOfSkyFalling I'm just starting out so I haven't looked to see what's out there in terms of guides for Grand Kingdom. Seems like it's not a very well known game by casual gamers.

Vanillaware never misses. Let's make this one a resounding success so they can make a sequel for it. About time we have another contender for Fire Emblem. I had this pre-ordered and I can't wait to dive in.
This is one of the most beautiful games i have ever seen. Of Course Vanilla Ware games are always amazing. I recently replayed Odin Sphere and its so breathtaking gorgeous on the Oled Vita if that would released today it would be as beautiful as in 2006. But this is just pure Art again. If you compare it with Fire Emblem my god this looks 1000 times better. Can't fathom how beautiful it is. can't wait for the release.
I'm so hair to see this. When we didn't get grand knight of psp, I was bummed still waiting for Odin sphere in switch... I buy everything they mashed, sometimes doubles/cross console. Even ports. I think I own 3 copies of OS.. They're such a gem. I don't have princess crown on saturn though... Yet
This is the next game on my watch list. I'm hoping there's character buildcrafting and not just teamcrafting. how did you find the story? wishing for an engaging story as well just like triangle strategy. Not a fan of the open world/lots of exploration as i prefer the more mission-based/narrative focused games like triangle strategy, tactics ogre reborn, etc so hopefully the world isnt too massive/respects my time.
One thing to always assume with vanillaware: never play assuming you can stay on a diet. If there is a second, trust that as a game studio who is known in their fan base to do games they find interesting is to be optimistic about the outcome. Also assume that the major fans will be very… vocal about how you should try it out.
PC gaming in Japan was super small compared to consoles until recently. As it grows it will be more common to see games launch on PC without the need of a late port.
This game looks so great. I love Vanillaware's art!
For anyone intrigued by the squad-building mechanics, Symphony of War is another recent game with similar mechanics. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
So there is generics!
Niiice I loved the game because of the customisation
Symphony of war is great!
The last remnant also has it & they are incredible.
I love this style of game, and the characters not being tiny sprites on the screen is a nice change I didn't know I wanted. Super excited to see more of this.
I LOVE Vanillaware games so this is a no brainer. Getting it day one.
2:44 Haha, that hit hard! ;)
I like games from Vanillaware and I like Ogre Tactics, so this should be a winner for me.
I liked what I heard class type, classes, placement matters, who's the leader matters, triangle system, high degree of customization.

Hoping Alain is a defined protagonist with a backstory and narrative arc. Burned out on the blank slate protagonists that Fire Emblem has been serving up for the past decade.
I can't say much in this regard but he definitely isn't a blank slate or a silent protagonist.
Is it like ogre battle in terms of group customization and map to map stage design?
Yes it is and it builds on those system.

Fight it out!
Ogre Battle is my favorite game, so I'm happy we get something with that style. Especially since Square doesn't seem interested in bringing it back.
me too !!! all the Fire Emblems in the world can't ever quench my thirst for Ogre Battles !!!

Pretty deep, Generic units have a Disgaea like customization to them.
