- Loop Hero is one of my favorite Roguelite games, it tackles the genre in a perfectly balanced way, both bullying you endlessly, but allowing you to feel rewarded, satisfied, and clever if you plan properly.

Title: This game makes a tedious genre actually fun - Loop Hero
#indiegame #challenge #review - Ігри
I had a two minute long segment about the different between Roguelikes, Roguelites, and how I love both but prefer a Roguelike because earning knowledge and starting from zero every run is still earning something while giving you a more difficult challenge. Anyway, I cut it because I realised you guys, the viewers, aren't dumb, you know the difference, you won't yell at me in the comments and misunderstand what I am talking about hahahaha.... right?
I also want to apologise for the delay on this video, I am trying for weekly, but I have a baby, a job, and trying to hold high standards on this channel, which I hope I reached today, but I'm not sure.
The reminder for me is always helpful though.
I've never seen your videos before and I appreciate that you pinned this. You DO know the difference, thank god.
But you didn’t cut the bad puns 👀.
@@EljayIsHere I can practically see Dunkey's influence (read: inspiration) oozing on this video. Of course, it's not a problem.
"Well well well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions" is pretty much Loop Hero in a nutshell
Hahahaha yep
I like that concept. It is the player himself who takes the risk of getting into trouble.
The reason I don't like the genre is because of the artificial difficulty that many have. Devs deliberately hide enemies or information from you that you wouldn't know until it's too late and you die. That artificial difficulty seems to me to be a very cheap and unfair resource to generate difficulty.
Isn’t that all games? First time you encounter an enemy in any game you are guessing or assuming what it does?
"Hey! I can take high level monster. Let's put some graveyard....oh no!"
Lmao
I put Loop Hero in a genre I named my self “digital crack”
hahahaha too real
Other games include Kingdom: New Lands and Gnorp
Factorio would be a synthetic digital crack. Game's hella addicting
Vampire survivors would be in that category?
@@lucenildofilho5710 most definitely
I absolutely love Loop Hero. It's really immersive and basically fits the 2 things I need in a game: 1. Replayability; 2. *DEEP LORE*
Loop Hero was so good, I was playing it nonstop a few years back. Just like you, I loved all the emergent/hidden combos that you'd randomly stumble on and it'd change your strategy entirely
I loved loop hero. I would love a expansion, dlc with more classes
Me too, I’m currently trying to beat the secret bosses but holy crap filling the entire map with swamps is brutal hahaha
@EljayIsHere never knew about the secret bosses I might give it a painful try lol
iirc the developers did plan to add a 4th class that uses a ranged weapon, but the developers live in Russia and i think some combination of covid and the political climate over there made it tough for them to keep working on this game. i could be wrong about all of that, but thats what i heard
bro Loop Hero is my favorite indie game, I'm so glad I found this video. The game deserves more recognition than it has
Solid vid. Loop hero was a blast, I remember finishing it those few years ago. One of those rare cases where I didn't use wikis at all. It felt like all of the interactions were really showing up without me searching for them. I thing that's a big plus for this game. It's not that hard to find the interactions, (maybe not all but most) yet they do feel exciting
Dude i've beaten it like 3 times, and while looking for the graphics for the thumbnail I found out there are so many more secrets, even hidden bosses
Really good editing! The video flows really well, I can tell you put a lot of effort into this 😁 Love Loop Hero so very happy this showed up in my feed
Thank you so much! I was worried this one was a bit low quality compared to other videos, so this is a really nice comment to read!
I bought loop hero first day just because of me being a Devolver fanboy, and I had so much fun sinking hours upon hours just on the first day, it’s so simple and chill I would put it beside my work project and play it when I’m stuck.
Lovely video, I love Roguelikes / Roguelite games and Loop Hero was such a fun time, now you made me want to go play it again.
You gotta go do the secret bosses, hint… place a swamp on every road tile
a fun build: farm the crafting furniture things that i forgot the name, that reflect magic dmg or something like that (played way too long ago, forgot a lot) and get the combo tile that spawns lightning, and watch the first boss instakill itself
0:55 ‘if you can’t feel yourself edge’ heeheehee 🙈
I was switching between Loop Hero and Inscryption while playing them and it sure was an experience. I kept waiting for squirell cards to pop into my deck
Ive constantly seen this game on gamepass and i enjoy roguelites but the store page just (ironically) didnt sell me on so ive never given it any time but after seeing this i think i have found my new addiction. Thank you
I absolutely hated playing this game, absolutely loved watching someone else play and absolutely adore your enthusiasm exuding from this well put together video. Cheers.
This game is now out on mobile as of this week. If you are already addicted on pc, imagine how worst it will be on couch and bed!
Hahahaa oh no we’re doomed
Loop Hero could probably also be considered a reverse tower defense, as well as a deckbuilder, but it seems like fundamentally it's a game about balancing resources to maximise the rewards, without fundamentally overextending, as that will most likely lead to failure, which is what i dealt with a lot of times, until hitting a recent wall which i can't seem to get past with the third boss.
Rivers, forests, and out posts on the rogue is probably your best bet, or rivers forests on the necromancer :)
Yooooooooo you do have a video on Loop Hero ! Amazing game indeed, glad you liked it. The achievements in this game are amazing to hunt and even after getting them all there are a few secrets and the last thing I did was to find strategies to reach thousands of loops, so good
This video is great, I can totaly see it getting 100k views if you were more lucky or something, keep going man, the quality is on point!
Thank you :) this means a lot
110K views! High quality video.
Damn I feel like a prophet right now hahah congratulations man! deserved!@@EljayIsHere
Ouch the livable wage joke felt a bit "too soon" lol. Great preview/review, I'll have to check this one out. Have a nice day👋🏻
I subscribed at the water pressure sim bit, brilliant !
There are not many roguelikes in the world right now. What we have now are not enough! People need more roguelikes in their lives. I hope there will be a ton more roguelikes in the near future. I'm hungry for more roguelike.
Not sure how this got onto my feed, but I enjoyed the video. Surprised to see that you have so little subscribers with such good content. You've earned yourself +1 sub keep up the good work.
Thanks! :) I’d say 1200 of my 1500 are from this video hahaha
Just starting out here and hoping to do my best :)
Hi Eljay! Nice to hear you again in my headset :) Loved the video keep up!
Another one stumbles across the channel! It’s been funny watching OG’s slowly find the channel hahaha
Out of all rougelikes/roguelites out there you chose one of the more grindy ones for this title
Imagine that though, a game that is endlessly looping the same track, it sounds awful but it’s actually fun. That’s huge! Hahaha
The "We''ll cut that" joke made me laugh way more then it should have. XD
love the video love the game i feel it deserves a lot more attention both the video and the game i wish they make a sequal
This game is godamn beautiful
The art is so interesting to me because the loop is so minimal, the combat art is far more intricate, and then the portraits are just chefs kiss
Just found ur channel and loving the content already
Thanks for such a nice comment! I’m glad!!
SAME
Glad to finally see someone talking about this game, was really surprised when it went under the radar like it did.
This game looks awesome! Somehow, I completely missed out on its release. Thanks for putting it out there!
It kinda snuck under!
This channel is a hidden gem and I must have more content... NOW!!!
I have stream this time tomorrow :) and I just started scripting the next review
Really like the kingdom soundtrack in the background , barely played it but the soundtrack is one of my favs
It is! Good ear! I’m obsessed with the series and soundtrack hahaha
Me, having covered the entire path with Count's Lands: "Doing one more loop and dying? Problem solved"
Hahahahah
This looks good!
Great video and great channel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude you need more subs wtffff
Amazing video!!!
That’s super nice! I think I’m still a bit inconsistent but hopefully we’ll build a community
This convinced me. Imma finally try it
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
Loop Hero easily makes my list of unique gaming experiences everyone should experience.
Right? It felt so different
A very solid game, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it
Probably a hot take
Every Rouge like should have a Mode that lets you keeps your Progress upon failing
My faborite deck builder game is Slay the Spire. Super fun imo
i havent played this game since it came out, and never really got too far into it. Maybe e to give it another shot!
Do wish we get a update to the game like a archer character maybe a monk one since there are belt slots but no one can use belts. But it is my highest played game but most of the time I probably just had it pause&went to the grocery store lol.
Totally agree, I’d love an update! I’m still playing constantly trying to beat the secret swamp boss though
Excuse meWUT
When you think about it, it's odd that we think of roguelikes as games where you have to start over from zero after death, when it is actually true of most game genders. RTS, sport games, MOBA, FPS...
Really there are two game genders where you don't actually restart from zero (of the top of my mind) : RPG, and adventure games. The first one because you play a character that is meant to evolve, and the second because you play through a story with a beginning and an end.
Yeah I got it a few days ago it's super fun
Good content this was
This game is GOLD
you used meadow from kingdom classic ost i salute you and your immaculate taste just subbed
edit:all the vide is decorated with the kingdom ost love it
One of the best soundtracks around!
New sub. Totally sold me on this game.
Hope you enjoy it :)
Man! Google's cookies are scary. I was just playing Loop Hero a while ago but never searched anything about it, at least not recently, and for sure not today.
But for some reason, YT randomly recommended me this, a Loop Hero video out of nowhere, after not seeing a single video about it for years. Damn.
(I guess I'll be seeing some "Sexy Buneary" contents any time now. XD)
Hahaha classic
you earned my like the moment i recognized kingdom's soundtrack
Favorite ost :)
Awesome Video :D
Thank you!!
I agree Loop Hero is a top tier Rogue Like, but still no near what the Binding of Isaac Afterbirth + ex plus ultra alpha HD remix edition is.
Oh of course, that’s practically one of the god tier OG games of the genre :)
It’s not my cup of tea personally but I know how good it is, I just have only been able to do a few of those room based dungeon crawlers.
how do you only have less than 1k subs! this is awesome
Thanks so much :) Only uploaded 6 videos, and just glad people are enjoying them
Pretty interesting.

The algorith brought me here and I'm not dissapointed. Good video really. I had the game in my backlog and your video made me start playing it. Good luck with your future videos.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for such a kind comment :)
the perfect embodiment of “fuck it we ball” to greed out just a little bit more
Hahaha
I dunno, I found it tedious personally
And that’s totally okay :) reviews aren’t facts, just opinions, and if you tend to not like the things I say I like, that’s still helpful as you’ll learn what not to touch as our tastes don’t align
I never se a gamea like loop hero, absolutely a unique rogue like
all the games they use in the intro example were all bangers
Yes :)
(Except maybe some small parts of cult of the lamb where the gameplay felt counter to the games design)
i admit i havent played that one@@EljayIsHere
What a great video.
This game looks great!
One of my favorite roguelikes. The only downside is lack of content. You can unlock everything relatively fast and then there is not much to do
How’d you beat the secret bosses? I’m struggling hahaha
YES LOOP HERO LETS GOOOOOOOO
aight sold
That one button game you don't know you need it.
Hahaha
I hope they update this game more. Gonna wait for Archer hero. I see an item slot for bow.
I do love to edge alright!😂
Plz have the music i expect....omg this sounds fun
To put this into game design terms, in Loop Hero, the experimentation and discovery never ends, but also to a great degree where it's not just unlocking something new at the end of a run (or introducing new simple playstyles with no depth), because simply unlocking new stuff by itself usually causes more problems than benefit due to mishandling power creep. There are many pitfalls that roguelites tend to fall into. Good callout on Loop Hero.
The music is baller and full of Jojo references.
This game was great, but it was obvious that the developers werent expecting it to get the traction that it did. I only wish it had more content..
Take your like only for the kingdom bgm, this man is a tryharder, last time I finished the game it take me XIX to get the out the last island (I mean vanilla kingdom not the two crowns)
you deserve more subscribers
Thanks :) I just hope people like the videos
and its out on mobile now. such a good game
damn fine rpg I newer knew existed, buying it on gog !
sounds interesting
Roguelikes are one of the the best games they make out there cus of the game depth and concepts and the downside it being...roguelike. glad someome understands
Ok you convinced me to play this, got it free on epic store
Teşekkürler arkadaşlar
Great game
I found the game also really tedious after playing the second time.
There's just not enough new stuff and the resource collection mechanic is meh for motivation.
You should do a video on cogmind
Roguelites are like souls-likes but you die less and succeed more
Really good video, thanks for this.
Glad you liked it! :)
Gotta best Loop Hero...
Or at least see who the fourth boss *IS* at least!
My guy good vid but u forgot to cut some parts out XD
Huh? The entire video is scripted, and watched back dozens of times before uploading.
Glad everyone is loving Loop Hero, but...what is the game being played at the start of the video, please? *stands behind tree, rubbing hands and licking lips*
It goes, Cult of the lamb, Hades, then Lethal Company at the start :)
@@EljayIsHere thanks :)
the one more loop got me so many times killed
But ya gotta do just one more!
@@EljayIsHere just one more time
Also... I've heard soundtrack being praised, but art is awesome too! What's stopping me from getting into many games is art... I know it's a non-issue for many people, but for me it's crucial for a game to have a good art style.
100% agree!
I try to focus really heavily on show don’t tell with these, but maybe I should try call out art design more as well!
@@EljayIsHere yeah! I think, developers also appreciate when people notice hard work put into it, so there's that too :)
this officially was a 110-120 hr game for me
mainly cause of the hidden bosses
Loop Hero is pretty cool, Noita sweep though SUOMI VTTU
Okay but Barony is the king
@@EljayIsHere allegedly according to unverified reports
I love roguelikes and roguelites. But Honestly can't get into t his one at all. I spent a good 3 hours or so on it, beat the lich boss, but still find myself just watching the game play itself and leaving me with very little choices since it didn't unlock much for me yet and the equipment choices I get are still mostly no-brainers =(.
I generally don't like games that mostly play themselves but one that I really like that similarly has a dope sound track is Vivid knight. Though I feel like even that one you get alot more choices during gameplay too.
the lich looks like SANS
basically this game preys on the same psychological phenomena as doom scrolling
Did we play the same game? This game is the epitome of "find a strat that works and do it again" and the main reason I dropped it is that its so repeptive. Once you figure out what works for each character you can ride that to the finish line every single time. The game has far too little depth for the amount of time it asks from you. It has the same problem as Darkest Dungeon 1, its a great core concept hidden behind way too much grind, the game time could be cut in half and it would be great.
What is really interesting is that the game has a heap of depth, but it sounds like you just chose to stick to one thing. That's not a bad thing, but I don't think you can blame the game for it, it gives you all the tools to experiment and have fun.
Darkest Dungeon is the same.
binding of isaac is the goat in the genre imho
Of course it’s one of the most loved of all time :) Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there aren’t any good ones other than this, just wanted to talk about one I love that also felt unique in terms of concept.
