Steve at end of video: “We went ahead and crafted the gentleman a new pair bespoke loafers in addition to completely restoring the shoes he sent in. Whadda ya want from me, it was the right thing to do.”

Again, Steve: I remember (yup, I'm aging myself here) Pierre Cardin in the 1970"s - one of the first "designer" guys. Interesting men's cologne (!!!). The brand went through many changes and I tried to find new Pierre Cardin shoes. They do exist but don't have the name recognition of 45 years ago, nor the quality. What can I say? - this guy must really love these shoes to send them across the pond to be rebuilt, restored, refurbished because he loved them so. Good on you for making these better than new in the day they were made and better than the new he could buy now. Your barbershop trip was amazing! Thank You. (and I'm an old lady now)...

Steve, I own an automotive parts restoration business. Often times I run into issues with parts where I can half ass it or fix it correctly. In most cases, the customer wouldn't know either way. A quote I remember is "do the right thing, even when others are not watching". Thus, I always fix it right, even when it costs me the money. Integrity is an important quality and you demonstrated it when you fixed the lining. Well done!

I have an old pair of inexpensive Fluvog Angles with similar construction that I've been curious about seeing 'Bedos-ized", and this was a nice proxy. I love watching you take a cool looking, but inexpensive pair of shoes and turn them into well crafted, high end footwear. That customer clearly loved those shoes, and now they'll last for years.

Some shoes are like Leather Art Work, and you are the restoration specialist. When I hear your sewing machines working, it reminds me of so long ago when my Mom made clothes for rich people, very nice custom stuff. Nice part was even tho we were on the verge of being considered poor, I wore some of the best custom fit shirts, and you could not buy these shirts, they were hand made one of a kind. She was very talented.

    Hi Steve
What can I say ? Wow AMAZING.
I knew these were low budget but they are high end now. Can't wait to see them in person.
When my wife bought me these back in year 2000 or so, we did not know anything about shoe construction nor did we have much spare cash either. She just bought them because she knew I would like the style.
I see a few comments here getting all hung-up on the original low value of them, they kind of miss the whole point of what you (Steve) and I have done here. These shoes can no longer be compared to what they once were. I've seen all your videos and watched brand new high end quality shoes getting stripped down, you've found corners cut ie. fibre-board etc.. My shoes have none of that now and with my limited knowledge gained from you I feel I now have something to be proud of.
I could have just gone out and bought a pair of the Trickers you mentioned.
    1) Trickers get a sale they can manage without.
    2) Bedo's doesn't get the work or the content we all like to watch. ( including the nay sayers).
    3) I don't get to keep my favourite shoes.
    4) I don't get to tick off my bucket list that I want Bedo-ised shoes.

Another example of your extraordinary craftsmanship, Steve. Simply sublime! This also serves as an example of the levels of trickery some labels go to to make shoes appear to be well-constructed when all they did was glue a molded chunk of rubber onto the bottom of a shoe. Consider using Steve’s amassed video collection to identify the elements of a well-crafted shoe and try to leave the deceptive junk shoes on the store shelves. Trenton & Heath and Preston Soto also discuss how to identify quality in mens shoes. Thank you for enlightening us, Steve and thanks for showing how such shoes, notwithstanding the brand name, can be made into what they were attempting to imitate in the first place.

Steve... this job was posted strangely maybe the day Pierre Cardin probably entered the American Hospital of Paris, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, where he died of old age at 98 ans (years) on 29th of December.
He was born in Italy on 2nd of July 1922 but his large family of 10 children and parent moved to Saint-Étienne it was an area that spoke the Occitan Language and was called, Sant Estève or in English Saint Stephen. It is a city in eastern central France 55 km (34 mi) southwest of Lyon in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and is the capital of the Loire department. It was famous for armes production and coal mining, but is now undergoing a vast urban renewal, with the installation of the Châteaucreux business district, the Steel shopping center and the Manufacturing creative district. When I served in the French Army 40 odd years ago I carried into battle s fusil (rifle) manufactured there, and my Regiment tested the FAMAS which is now being replaced and the last rifle produced for the French Army... in the same factory with much the same equipment that the weapons of the Wars of Coalition were made for Napoleon Bonaparte, in France he is always termed Bonaparte, and has a rather bad reputation but is honored. I think likely much of that is due to his loss to the English and Preußens, and that he was also born of Italian descent in Ajaccio, Corse... Corse which is the French for the French Island of Corsica... also strangely is old word for corpse or dead body, which in modern French is corps or cadavre.
Anyway he was a bit of a flamer (gay). He never sold his design house (though he tried for awhile), and worked to the very end of his life. He designed and personally built two dresses for his old friend Mireille Mathieu not long before he died. She did a concert for his last birthday party at the LaCoste castle... Mireille, and she finally started to wear many of the really great dresses he designed for her over 50 years, in the year before he died... I suggested several times she should as they were really great designs and I thought her fans would like to see them used. There is a bit of a story to their relationship was when she first came to Paris as a girl to participate in a contest TV program like Americas Got Talent back in the mid-sixties.... after the performance her then new manager Johnny Stark took her to a party at Cardin's Apartment, which was lavishly furnished, think like the Italian/Polish American singer piano player flamer Liberace, that was his real last name, and it sounds like it is missing an accent mark! Anyway, this very naive young peasant girl was taken into this lavish environment and it was for her like a fairy tale... but the stress of the contest, which she came in 2nd like Jackie Evancho but won French People's hearts, she was very totally exhausted so before she gave a brief performance of the one song she knew, Piafs Hymn to Love, Pierre suggested she need a nap and she was put to bed in his king sized bed in this enchanted world... then 4 hours later a little sleepy eyed she sang for the party.
Here are some of the dresses and costumes Cardin designed

Mireille is extremely Catholic.... this dress was made for a performance in France in the Chapel by artist Henri Matisse and the dress design for that -> Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence (Chapel of the Rosary), often referred to as the Matisse Chapel or the Vence Chapel, is a small Catholic chapel located in the town of Vence on the French Riviera.
    irascible
Mireille I believer later did this performance in Spain and wore the outfit because the Stained Glass window in the studio by as I remember Dali
There are at least a 100 more dresses and outfits... he designed over the years... for her including two Chanel dresses.... which he personally cut and tailored for her when he was 96 years old...

In Italy the blake rapid is quite common. And as construction is quite durable too, proof of it are the many light mountain hiking boots that have been made using that type of build and have held on very well for many years even if used hard.

At @ 14:19 you asked, "What do we call that?" I'm thinking right! Fast.. fast stich construction? ..no, fast welt.. no.. and then you answer, "rapid blake stitch construction!". First comment on your channel here, was a fun moment and I wanted to share. Love your work! All my best to you and family.

Coolest barber shop ever! Ya know, I look at these wear patterns on the foot beds and linings and I can’t help but wonder: when was the last time a shoe pattern was drawn off of the shape of a real human foot?! These shoe companies have no clue! These poor guys must have sore feet!
