    Steve, I have systemic Lupus and I am very sick. I am home in bed most of the time. This morning I was feeling very much in pain and I put on UA-cam. I was so excited to see a new video from you. Watching your level of craftsmanship fascinates me and helps distract me from my pain. I also learn so much about leather work and shoes. Thank you for giving me a window into your world and an escape from mine. Your videos do more than you realize. ❤️👞👞👞👍

    *Someone commented saying they think this repair was $350. Nah, this job would most definitely cost more than $350. Why? If you watched the whole video, he had to replace the entire foot bed which was absolutely trashed. He had to mend the heel counter and add a new heel lining. He also had to repair the toe area. The uppers were dirty and filthy, so he cleaned them. The material was also wiped with conditioner since they were very dry. He also had to dye them to fix the coloring. A new midsole and outer sole were added as well. This was a pretty comprehensive repair.*
    *Many people commenting on this channel also often forget other factors (important ones too). The shoes hold sentimental value to the customer since they're for a friend of his. So it was definitely worth it for them. If people can afford it and really want it, then by all means do it. I can understand not being able to afford it though. I think it was very smart for the customer to have these repaired, because it would be wasteful for them to have tossed them into the trash. Also, the boots have history and have many memories attached to them. I'm sure the friend was very happy with the results, and can enjoy many more years with their boots 😊! Also, yea it's expensive, but people are paying for his many years of experience, expertise, and his amazing attention to detail. The money also goes towards him buying more supplies such as the leather (it doesn't come cheap), dyes, repairs for his machines, more tools, etc. So I can see why he charges those prices to help with these things. Most importantly his experience and expertise goes into the price. If he lowered it, he would be underpaying himself with how talented he is. Again, I do understand not everyone can afford stuff to be repaired. Not everyone does it. If people are able to have the money for it, they can most certainly go ahead and get it done. He has great results too so it's worth it 😊!*
    *With all of that said, the boots look amazing and Steve worked extremely hard on them and the experience and expertise shows! He brought them back to life!!*

      *The man has a business to run 😅! He has bills and employees to pay, machines to fix, machines and tools to buy, supplies, and a family to take care of. I wish more people understood these things, instead of tossing their stuff into the trash, and buying new ones. "Hey man! It's too expensive! Just buy new ones! It's easy bro!" Hey bro, be prepared to be mocked and told you're a clown while watching his videos. He laughs at you haters lol 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣! I love it when he mocks the hater with that goofy voice he does lol 🤣🤣🤣!!*
      *Let's continue!*

Loved the hookah break--I've seen your coffee breaks, but can't remember seeing a hookah one. And you sitting on your porch took me back many years to when I spent a college summer working in Virginia, living in a frame house with a porch like yours, relaxing and watching the world go by. Reaching out to my local cobbler is for sure a great thing for him/her. However, it’s so difficult to see what kind of quality you get and unfortunately there are so many out there that just waste the money (and shoe). That is true for many professions btw, you showcase what you can do (basically an online portfolio) and then it becomes an easy choice I guess. :)

    • @Seemannsfrau69
      @Seemannsfrau69 3 роки тому +19

      I tried my "local cobbler" after being inspired by Steve's work; what a mistake. The boots were ruined and couldn't wear them anymore. It would be nice if Steve could recommend some cobblers he knows from around the world that he can vouch for.

      +1 People don't mind spending the money if they receive value. We have all been burned in the past. Maybe the local cobblers need their own UA-cam channel to point to if they want the business.

    • @VincentGroenewold
      @VincentGroenewold 3 роки тому +3

      @@cyrilhudak4568 Yeah, or at least a portfolio. This is where having a degree in something or a CV, doesn’t mean much. If you can showcase what you can do (also for instance with software engineering), I would be way more interested in checking that out.

    It’s good to see you relaxing after working hard, Steve. I’ve been keeping your family in my prayers.
    I bought Bick 4 after seeing you talk about it and now use it on all our leather goods. It’s been great on the Vachetta of our Louis Vuitton bags, as it doesn’t darken it prematurely, but seems to stop it developing water marks and keeps both the vachetta and canvas supple and shiny. My mulberry bags love Bick 4 as well. Not easy to get in the UK, but well worth the effort!

    Your a pleasure to watch.
    I watch your repairs late at night sat in front of a fire when all the jobs of the day are done.
    I like the casual nature, the sound of your voice ,the stitching, the bugs outside, the occasional visits of a beautiful Alsatian dog and even your coffee times with friends. It makes me feel like I am your friend, although we have never met.
    I bet there are two types (especially)of people who watch your videos, those who want and can afford your shoe repairs, and those who would love to try and repair a pair of shoes that mean a lot to them but fancy their own skills at it from watching great people like yourself.
    Gets me wondering how I could get 'off the shelf' leather bits that I could fashion into a footbed and welt.
    I have a small metal shoe iron that I use as a door stop. Perhaps I can... you never know until you try, right?
    Ps, your a very talented man. X

    Beautyful Shoes !! Du bist ein wahrer Künstler. Es ist sehr beindruckend, was du aus den alten Schuhen gemacht hast. Der Besitzer wird lange Freude daran haben. Danke für das schöne Video. Es hat mir sehr gut gefallen. I love it! 😅❤

    I enjoyed the drive yesterday with you and your son. I would love to see a photo of the outside of your Cobra. Great video today. The owner will be shocked when he receives his gift. I was impressed with the editing showing close ups. Especially great seeing you kick back and relax. You need to do more of that.

    Long since questioning why customers pay what it takes when they can buy something new. In fact I welcome the most dilapidated projects because then we get to see more of your magic. You made those boots so much better and they will last so much longer than before. Your skill set is amazing.

    Something about giving a good piece of leather a new life is deeply satisfying. You have to to be able to recognize a good original piece of leather that's not about to disintegrate. The boot upper began with quality upper that has remained so despite the years, and seeing it, you did the magic.

    Thoroughly enjoy seeing your craft. I have so much love and appreciation for people like you who continue their passion and educate us too. I really am saddened that there aren't more people like you everywhere, that we can trust. Hoping I can find one locally. Thank you!
