I always wanted to get the 6505 but this video makes me appreciate my VK
I've always wanted this shootout, thanks man! They do sound similar, I actually preferred the VK, the music I play is more varied, however for strictly metal my choice would be the 6505.

Honestly they sound very similar, the only huge difference being that the 6505 has a bit more bass to it, but i imagine you could add more bass to the valveking’s tone by adding an overdrive pedal in the loop.

I've owned an OG 90's 5150 and I've always heard that these Valve Kings are "The Poor Man's 5150". I think they sound great!

In my neck of the woods, Valveking combo amps sell for less than Marshall Haze 40s. 😆
That ValveKing sounded great, and I imagine it would be excellent for everything up to classic metal. For modern metal, though, I love the husky voice and tightness of the 6505+.

I found the VK to cut better thrugh the mix, since the 6505+ was more on the loose bottom end side of the spectrum. Si i'll stay with the first (bias: i own a 20W VK 😅)

I have a Valve King 100, and a 5150. Love both of em, the 5150/6505 just has an edge above the Valve King.

For me: Track 1 with the Les Paul standard I liked the 6505+ and the second track with the Les Paul custom I loved the VK100

It's a 1988 Gibson Les Paul Custom Showcase Edition. It originally came with EMG 81/85 harrdwied from the factory and all Black Hardware. I swapped everything to Gold and installed Gibson 500T/496R Pickups. Cheers -Ryan

The vk100 was my first amp, then years after i bought the 6505...But no way , my valveking does not have the incisive sound of the 6505, i maybe have à hard rock sound but no metalcore style for example...
Oh....I plugged my vk100, just after changing the tubes that were dead ( by 6L6GC ENGL ). Ok, wtf...All my life was a lie?? The sound is fu...awesome! Maybe better than my 5150!! That was impossible to sell the valveking more than 150 bucks, and i just realise how badass this amp is after all this years. And, the clean is better too....

В России vk очень недооцененный усилитель. 5150 практически считается иконой, а vk люди в упор не замчают. И для меня это удивительно, учитывая насколько он хорош. Люблю 6505, но хотел бы иметь vk100 в своем наборе
VK более суховат,6505 более серединистый,опять же,как ручки стоят мы не знаем
Думаю, ручки как раз стоят условно на 12 на обоих. Было бы интересно узнать, насколько буст середины на бортовом эквалайзере приблизит вк к 6505. Зная подход производителей, можно предположить, что схематически эти усилки очень близки. Возможно, инженеры исходно сделали у вк тон "галочкой" как якобы модерновый мод 5150го. В общем, вк предлагает вполне рабочий тон и те же регулировки дип и резонанс. А если учесть, что серединку можно подбустить не с лица, так через петлю, то вероятно, вк можно приблизить и к 5150 при желании. Классный усилок. Нравится. И трипл хорош. Вк и трипл адово недооценены у нас.
