  • A historical post that was built by Jack Dalton back in the 1890's. Many of the buildings/cabins we see now are from the miners and maybe even the RCMP in the early 1900's. It is in the traditional territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. Like and subscribe for more Yukon content!

    Another interesting video from you, Taiga. I always enjoy your videos and knowledge about the beautiful Yukon Territory. Always look forward to visiting this part of Canada that not too many get the opportunity to do. I was so fortunate to live there for 2 years. Can't wait to visit you soon again. So many interesting trails and history to explore in this vast Territory of Canada. Keep trekkin', keep exploring this beautiful gem of a Territory, Taiga.

    Thanks for sharing the images of this tough old cabin, built by tough people. These certainly won't be around forever.

      It really is too bad that these cabins have gone to disrepair. To my knowledge they were up kept until around the 1980's and after that were left there and untouched.

      I believe the cabins that stand today are a mixture of an old RCMP post and miners cabins. Originally the area was a fish camp for first nations, but in the 1890's, Jack Dalton built a trading post and during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898, he had a toll road (like the well known Chilkoot trail but a different route) that took people to Fort Selkirk. It was known to be the easiest route for cattle but was very expensive. Hopefully this bit of info helped!
