I was born and raised in this province and never throughout my entire grade school and university stint has a teacher/professor ever taught students about this place. Even in my Geography classes. Not even a mention. Had I not stumbled upon this video, I would’ve never known this place existed.
Have to travel to Thompson periodically for my job. Every time I do, I stop in at Pisew Falls. If you live in Manitoba, and you don't visit Pisew Falls, you're missing out.
Hello from Québec. I'm ashamed to say I don't know a lot about Manitoba except Winnipeg, St-Boniface, the obvious places, Churchill... but this video is a gem! What a beautiful and spectacular river this is... Glad to have found this on YT. Thank you!
They aren't kidding with the "experienced hikers only" bit, especially the Grass River route! We found it very tough, but rewarding! We hiked it at mid-May, so there were no mosquitoes and the weather was pleasantly mild. BUT, there were still some snow drifts on the trail to contend with. I'd also say this is a suitable practice hike working up to the Mantario Trail. Great documentary!
Wow! Now this video series is tax money well spent. Stunning photography all from our own home province! I’m passing this on to my family, especially the ones who have moved away. Just gorgeous. Thank you for posting this!!
@@voetbal12 I live in Edmonton and miss the fishing! Here, if you want to go fishing in the lakes, you have to drive more than a hour and the "lakes' are actually what we called large sloughs. LOL! I miss being able to fish almost in my backyard. In fact, one of the houses I lived in, the lake was 30 feet from the house. In the summer here, you see a lot, and I mean a lot of boats on the highway, going to and from the "lakes". Hardly ever saw that in Manitoba or Ontario.

I have visited both falls, they are truly amazing! We boated down the Grass River, as I think the hike would have not gone really well (megamosquitos). Going to the far side of Pisew's suspension bridge is worthwhile as the ecosystem is certainly quite "B.C like" ...indeed
Pisew Falls is actually Manitoba's third largest waterfall behind Kwasitchewan Falls & Kapataytay Falls. We did the 29km trail to Kwasitchewan Falls in 2019, one of my favourite Manitoban trails🙌

We (my wife and I) got 60% into K waterfall last summer but the trail was swamped out and she wanted to turn back. It was 38°c and the worms falling from the conifers were pretty gross. Literally raining worms on us. But it was still great. We aim to return this fall and look forward to camping at the K falls. 👍😎.
