    I have had chronic stomach issues for 15 years, and so I'm deeply familiar with nausea, the vagus nerve, digestion issues etc. Everything that you mentioned are the things that make me sicker, not better. Cold weather, exercise, food high in fat, are all things that can trigger my stomach issues and make them worse. From all of my conversations with doctors, stimulating the vagus nerve is what causes nausea, not what gets rid of it.

      Your system might just be super sensitive. In trauma therapy, there is a term called a “window of tolerance”, so perhaps your window is super small. Have you tried somatic experiencing or EMDR? Chronic illness is linked to stress/trauma so some kind of trauma therapy might be helpful. BTW, “trauma” doesn’t necessarily mean a big shocking event. It just means your nervous system was affected by it. Irene Lyon (on UA-cam) is a good source for nervous system healing. She says that a lot of these “hacks” aren’t long term solutions, so don’t feel bad if these things don’t work for you. I can’t do deep breathing even though it works for a lot of people. You probably just need something more slow and gentle to build nervous system capacity.

    Dear Mona! You are the best! You are my go-to if I wanna check out whats "hip" in the health community. You are extremely knowledgeable and you filter information for us. After years of listening to you I truly trust your judgement and things that work 4 you, usually work for me too. So thank you.
    Side question (totally unrelated) what is your take on social egg freezing? I live in Europe and I heard really good things about it done in a neighboring country (Czech Republic). Im 34, happily married, but I dont want to have kids, like AT ALL. This for me would be a back up plan, so Im curious ifyou have thought on this. Hugs ❤️

    So interesting. Thank you for sharing this video. I suffer from anxiety and I practice deep breathing everyday which is incredibly helpful. I've also tried cold plunge which is invigorating and I incorporate omega-3 foods everyday. I did not know about foot massage or vocal chord stimulation. I look forward to trying these methods as well.

    Hello Mona, I do have a question. Can you fix a parasympathetic system that’s gone wrong ?
    In short, due to multiple traumas and anxiety, the last few years (as I’ve been told), I totally fucked up my parasympathetic system. I now have digestive issues (light gastroparesis for no reason), and inappropriate sinus tachycardia (on a healthy and fit heart).
    So is there a way for all of that to get better ?

    • @rachd4794
      @rachd4794 Рік тому +1

      You should look into somatic experiencing or EMDR if you haven’t already. There are a lot of options for trauma therapy, but everyone is different, so you’ll have to find what’s right for you. It just has to be done slowly and safely. I would recommend watching videos from Irene Lyon. She is very knowledgeable about trauma and the nervous system. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk would be a good book to read. Gabor Mate is also a good source. Simple grounding techniques would be a good start. But I think learning about trauma and the nervous system is going to be super helpful in your healing journey.

      @@rachd4794 thanks for your tips. I did EMDR, it worked fine. Let’s say that mentally now I’m in a good place but my body « has been keeping the score » 😂 and I don’t know how to go back to 0

    • @rachd4794
      @rachd4794 Рік тому

      @@glenn1970 you’re welcome! Seems like you have a small window of tolerance right now, but you can definitely widen that window. It’ll take time for your body to understand that it’s safe, but it’s possible! Remember to be kind and patient with yourself!
