Me: I respect Henry Cavill. He worked hard to get where he is and he's genuinely a nice guy.
Henry Cavill: I play 40k.
Me: LISAN AL GAIB!!!
As it is written!
As written...
Mahdi Mahdi Mahdi! Muad'Dib!
LMAO!
Henry .. show us the golden path!
You can see him struggle not to go in "let me tell you about 40K" mode
He loves geeking out in interviews about things like the Witcher, 40K, etc.
"Are you a nerd?" ... HE'S OUR KING! YOU INSOLENT FOOL!
What is this heresy? Henri Cavill IS the emperor of mankind!
The only way henry could afford to build his custodes army was to become a famous actor
And i can respect that. People dont understand how expensive this "nerd" hobby is :D
He also plays WOW, but he refuses to share his name in game so he doesn't get harassed
Makes sense
Yes, the player of Leeroy Jenkins did expierienced the dark sides of being famous. Nearly every player in the game followed him, when he was online and because there was only one server, switching servers wasn't an option
@@Anthyrion Thats actually false, as someone who started playing in early 2005 only a few months after the release i can say there where always manny diffrent servers, but a server transfer wasn`t aviable from the start so he woud have to make a new character.
@@obiwayne2247 Ok, i never played it myself and only heard that in those early days you couldn't change the servers.
There is also that enterview about the Witcher, where he says he plays Custodes, and then the bard's actor says he is building Necrons. And they are like: "We should play sometime."....
This brought back memories of trying to explain 40k to my grandad on Christmas Day 1998
Funny you say that my grand dad is 90 now and he lives alone and has way to much time, so he is building my Spartan Assault Tank now and he is super into it even tough he won't admit it.
@@pavma7 I wish my grandad was more Cavill and less Kimmel
Grandad, it's like WW2 but cool and evil.
Henry Cavil could be my God Emperor.
Heresy
Not acting. Actual one
'Could'? Heresy... this one commander
“Could”? COULD! INQUISITOR!!!!
I want him to play Sanguinius
I want to play Warhammer with Henry Cavil.
We all do.
i feel like cavil would kick my ass at 40k because he knows every rule and little trick every army can do but he would be really nice after and teach you about your mistakes :)
I would go gay for Henry
Jimmy Kimmel still lives in the 90’s and his Manshow era
Well given the 90s was part of the most equal time ever to exist in the west, which if you’ve kept up to date on the leftist lunacy you’ll know were no longer in the most equal time ever cause the left are reversing the progress gays like me have made and letting straights jade our spaces
Yeah, it really did feel like an interview from the 90s
at least the man show had fun moments. He feels like hes on a very tight leash on his talk show.
Nah, he's living far away from that now. Guy is a sell out on tight leash.
@@carolpulma2734 Not sure where this tight leash idea is coming from, he seems to be doing what the hell he wants tbh. I think the problem here is that he is just one of those guys (that were so insanely common in the 90s) that can't wrap their head around any geeky stuff being cool and amazing fun, and immedialy tries to compare wargames with playing with dolls or marbles (both of which he did) to insult/demean them
I've been interviewed many times for different things, but I don't think I could have been able to keep even remotely as cool as Cavill did with these questions that were so obviously loaded with ridicule. Just one more reason to worship (not literally) him as the best male-model (not the fashion kind) for men to follow at this day and age
Not only can he turn straight men gay-simps for him, but he seems mentally and morally such a great guy as well... which is a rare combination that only few have ever achieved
First off Kimmel, hes a geek not a nerd and man I remember my old LAN party days with my friends, that brought me back. Geeks nowadays have no idea how lucky they are that geek culture is popular and not something you whispered to each other and hid away from the world lest you get ridiculed endlessly. Cavill is a great guy and a great spokesman for geeks everywhere. Hes like Warhammer's version of Joe Manganiello.
ua-cam.com/video/9QM4h1qvqpg/v-deo.htmlsi=WtY4GWyKd7dFBITO the difference
There's an interview he did on a British show called the Graham Norton Show after he did Man of Steel where he admits he missed the initial call that he got the role of Superman because he was in the middle of a raid in World of Warcraft.
Those are intense. I didnt like WoW PvE at all. Too long, too spamy and boring, Raid leader shouting, many people not knowing (most of the time) the boring mechanics, and everyone and their mother checking your item rating. It wass a very poor system, at least what I played, WoltK, which is supposed to be the golden era.
Only bothered to grind to give clousure to the end of WC3 story. PvP was more fun, despite the game being balanced around items rather than player skills/game abilities.
Fun Fact: The "original" tabletop war games (Kriegsspiel) were invented by Prussians in 19th century, to test real war scenarios with army models and terrain, and to train officers of the army in tactics and strategy. It is the first recognized type of this training adopted by army (in known history).
I remember the time my most talkative friend was quiet for TWO hours after asking me about 40k lore. Poor man lol
Like where do you begin even telling someone everything so that you can tell them one thing.
my mate and i meet up and talked 40k lore and game for like a hour before we remembered his GF sat there in silence. felt bad about that
@@drussarn lol, apparently "it happens" lol. Once you get going its hard to stop. Everything is so connected and cool
This tells you why people think Jimmy Kimmel is...distastfull.
Yeah, it's kinda hard to miss.
Kimmel has terminal TDS.
I believe his voice to be measurably carcinogenic.
They Nerfed Custodes to make Henry buy a new army
Lotta peoples first army
Well, it sounds so rude, since he is. People's opinions on nerd culture can still be pretty messed up in the US, especially for Kimmel's generation
Stephen Colbert however, has fully embraced his inner nerd ❤
I feel like that's mostly Kimmel. He's always come off as the kid that got bullied in school but then had a mildly successful comedy career and got his own show and now bullies anyone who doesn't fit the same mold he wasn't included in back then. Basically, someone who never really moved on from highschool.
@@Lechuga1815 Sounds reasonable
Love all your reactions, and even more when I'm there during the lives ^^
Henry has been playing since he was a kid because i used to play rugby against him and we used to nerd out over 40k and dnd stuff after the games.
Super awesome! the fact that he did that way back then is further proof to his nerdiness
@@codyjackson8648 yep we talked about making computers too and acting he wanted to be a film star even back than, ironically i told him he would make a great superman. I myself was offered the role of Ant-man by Kevin Feige in the airport in Marseille after the canne film festival but i couldn't because of other commitments, but i recommended Paul Rudd for the role. Another twist of fate.....
@@johnruddick686 nice story man.
@@johnruddick686 and theres me believing your original comment until I read this 😂
When he was on Graham Norton, same Warhammer questions, he was laughed at even more than on the Kimmel show!
Tom Holland was pretty interested though, or he was being nice to him, but he sounded interested in learning about Necrons
They are bunch of idiots
Reminds me of the kinda interview questions Sean Bean got once he was cast in lord of the rings.
Love Henry but it's nice to see that, while I am about the same age, and he is probably a 'tiny' bit more successful than me by most metrics, he still has a pile of shame. That shame brings us all together... And you have one too as well @ti8ick!
He's the Emperor
i can't stand Jimmy -.- so annoying.
but Henry is the goat.
The Holy Goatemperor of Mankind
Henry is my Space King
PRAISE BE TO SPACE KING
He's not a nerd. He's a geek. There's a difference.
EXACTLY! He is 1338. Always one step ahead of the average nerd!
Thank you. I thought I was the only one who still knew that lol
Henry cavil has just gone up in my books by miles, from one sheek geek to another
I wonder what his reaction is towards the new lore conflict of Warhammer Custodes.
I've got to say, there were always some cool handsome guys into D&D and Warhammer. I've been friends with several. They used to be a bit on the downlow about it, didn't want me talking to them about it in the pub too loudly, that sort of thing, but now they don't have to hide their hobbies. On the other hand the currency of nerdyness has been debased since it got mainstream. There was more of a cool feeling when we were underground.
Half the guys at my Gym are into Warhammer.
He is our lord and saviour, our emperor
The disconnect between generations feels nutty in this interview
"Huh, huh huh, you have a nerd hobby."
"Yeah. I do. & your wife would leave you in a heartbeat if I just offered to spend the day with her teaching her how to paint them. Not so bad being a nerd is it."
Ya but, Henry a nice dude, and his GF is hot af too. He put a primarch in her.
Ya but, Henry a nice dude, and his GF is hot af too. He put a primarch in her.
KING OF THE NERDS!
He is man enough to own who he is.
I too dipped out shortly after this part. I 💯agree about Jimmy's tone.
It's 2024 and Jimmy still uses the word "nerd". Dude is so uneducated it's insane.
Henry Cavill plays Warhammer
Post Malone plays Magic the Gathering
Joe Manganiello plays Dungeons and Dragons
....who's a nerd at this point??
Vin Diesel.. into D&D and made a film based on his childhood character.
Nobody, JK just has fossil brain
I bet he has 10,000 Custodes with as much as he’s worth.
I feel so bad for Henry to have to deal with people like Jimmy on a constant basis.
Is Henry saving his hair to play the Emperor?
Yeah, i think, every Warhammer player has his/her pile of shame^^ I tried a few armies (Astartes, Chaos Marines, even Orks at the beginning) before GW decided to bring out plastic Daemons and Tyranids and my biggest pile of shame are my former Chaos Marines and Fantasy Dwarves. I didn't even efforded to prime some of them and instead begun painting them^^'
I guess the plus side of the pile(s) of shame is that they can be used as conversion parts and can help painting burnout by doing a bunch of different models.
im sitting on a bunch of space marines and necrons before i feel in love with nids, also got a load of custodes im slowly working on
Seriously I'm sure we all want him as mankind's nerds ambassador.
He painted a few armies, the “grey pile of shame” is completely different
4:17 Can you imagine? "Yeah, this is my army of Grey Knights that I won from defeating my last opponent"
Mt. Overwhelming is a real thing. The misconception that a perfectionist gets, is the idea of having your entire army painted to Golden Demon quality. The trick is, learn a basic table top standard (Three steps, you're done), and look at it from at least three feet away. If there is still something that is not readable about what it is and what it does, then decide what would make THAT detail pop and complement the rest of the color scheme.
This is also why Henry chose The Custodians, they gold. Hard to screw up gold. When batch painting Custards, K.I.S.S., make up your own gold paint dip. In less than ten minutes you can have an entire army base coated.
“Imagine having to talk to Jimmy Kimmel” I prefer not to…I’ll stick to imagining myself on fire.
I'd rather explain Warhammer to a toddler than to Jimmy.
Okay, so back in the late 90's/early 00's, there was a thing in casual games where you would bet on pieces of other people's armies. Like "if I win, I get that guy's head" or something like that. Also, as someone else has said of this man, "why is he so perfect?"
As someone that paints and collects minis I've always wanted to see how he paints.
You know who does look like a nerd? Jimmy Kimmel.
The hero we deserve
I don't understand how late night shows still exist
Henry Cavil was a prominent actor in the UK before he hit Hollywood, if you see him back when he was really young he definitely "looked like a nerd"
So how many figures has Cavil actually completed in his lifetime?
Internet Detectives assemble!
He's the same age as me in the late 30's and he started playing in the mid 90's so I'd guestimate at least 1000+
I just stripped the paint off my old 4th Edition Warhammer Fantasy models to re-paint for wee skirmish games.
Hell I still need to repaint my Steel Legion 40k models now that my painting has improved :/
Kimmel awkward
Henry Cavill is my Nerd hero. He's into all the same crap as I am. My favorite story is how he missed the phone call telling him he got the role of Superman because he was raiding in World of Warcraft. If you asked him what a Raid bucket was he could tell you. I only wonder if he plays Horde or Alliance. And what class is his Main. Again he knows what that means.
Imagine if Henry Cavill was also a lore enthusiast, and Jimmy ask that fateful question, "can you tell about Custodes?" This interview will take a LONG time to finish 😁
Glad to see Cavill is a sensible human being and has a pile of shame
Dang, late 80s? That's a long time.
Nerd is easily one of my favorite words of all times and I use it liberally lol
Wonder what his thoughts are on WH40K going woke with DEI infection as of recent.
Hail to the King.!
Henry Cavil is the only competition to Ryan Reynolds.
Our Emperor
Well, let's be real - there is a reason most of us avoided talking about the hobby for many years. That's the kind of dialogue you would have had pretty much up until recently with the vast majority of people.
Cavill is the perfect ambassador for the hobby in this situation, but we have still a very long way to go before you don't need to deal with such cringe reactions.
First its been video games, then comics, now D&D and soon enough even Warhammer - people can complain about it becoming mainstream, but on the other hand at least you won't have to sit through another Kimmel interview or listen to gatekeepers from the community judging 'who the real fans are'...
Amen to that. But JK represents the boomer population as I honestly cannot believe that anyone under the age of 40 watches him. He's making HC the butt of a joke to try to ellicit a favorable reaction out of his audience, and we are not it. Most people that has touched any kind of game and enjoys it, would probably like warhammer.
He said 80's and I had to Google how old Henry Cavill is, theere is no fucking way this man is 40. This man looks younger than me and I'm not even close to 40 yet.
theres a video of him in a singlet top putting together his computer >.>
The grey pile of shame doesnt mean he just painted one. It means he still has lots of unpainted minis that he didnt get to work on. Like i painted necrons, space wolves, ultramarines, tyranids. Yet i still have helbrecht, ragnar, sword breathen, ballistus dreadnought, intercessors to work on. So those are my grey pile of shame. I mean the dude is loaded, he might have loads of minis that were gifted or he bought
Nooo the homie is a perfectionist he might fall to Slanesh
If you're old enough and were a gamer at the beginning of PC gaming itself, this used to be the general consensus of anyone who was not a table-top gamer. Of any kind.
While they play Monopoly, which to me is more like Monotony, we used MATHS, logic, problem-solving skills and most importantly, our imaginations. In a partly improvised environment. And yes, we were considered nerds by the jocks (we're talking early 80's for me) and ridiculed for it. Good life lesson. The curious and intelligent will usually be bludgeoned and subjugated by the armed and dumb.
Seriously though, Henry was a boarding school guy. They ooze public politeness, and they rarely mean any of it. Never be fooled by UK/Irish accents. The most scared I've ever been was in Hounslow where I heard a voice that sounded like ugly East End saying, with a lilting comical but friendly sounding voice, "Eh, what ye doin', friend". If you heard that word, "friend", in 80's London, you ran. Fast.
It's funny how people have reacted to w40k. They act like it's a bad thing to do these games. Yet they themselves sit for hours doing the same thing on tablets and phones nowadays. We interact and have a relatively good time with it. It's a hobby, it's hard to explain to people why you enjoy it. I'm just getting back into it, makes me realize how much time I've been spending on electronic devices. Now there's an expensive hobby.
Amen. People are quick to criticize people to do "nerdy/unhealthy" things and then turn around and do the same thing through a different medium but it's somehow "different" and "more healthy" like no bro, you're sitting in front a tv for hours on end whether it's sports, or reality tv, or tiktok/social media.
Henry Cavill's pile of shame, AKA The DCEU and The Witcher.
none of the people have realized that warhammer is "CHAOTIC". it only means people who loves it have CHAOTIC minds too. so this reporter should be careful when facing henry cavill. he may look handsome but his mind is full of violence. the moment you insult him, he might grab your throat, smash your face to the ground, beats your head with a steel chair, then calmly asks you... "are you ready for round 2?"
Hail King of the Nerds. We love u.
We’re counting on you, Henry, to save Warhammer from GW!
It's often weird to me how they would be condescending when it comes to 40K but don't do the same when it's DnD.
There are also some celebrities aside from Cavill who are into 40K, but only collect and paint. The late Robin Williams, I believe, was also open about it. He used to play the tabletop as well, maining Eldar and Orks.
Truly a man of Kultur
Lol. "Hobbies of a nerd". Reminds me of the church talking about "demon engines" and "witches things" in Castlevania XD
A nerd in the body of a jock. Should have been Mr. Fantastic.
Ah yes, a question about the rules of the game compared the "marbles". Surely the kids will understand that reference.
Kimmel knows not to disrespect his hosts.
THIS time, it is obvious that Cavil is a alpha male, giga chad, super mega manly man. And that he is proud of his nerdness. So it was ok to poke fun at it, knowing in advance that his host would be ok with it.
He needs to do an interview with Stephen Colbert - he’s a proper nerd as well.
stephen is a marvel fan. collected many rare comics since the 80's.
@@claireglory and a Lord of the Rings superfan, and a D&D fan, and so on.
HENRY CAVILL IS 100% EMPEROR! OUR GOD!
God Emperor of Nerdkind
Interested in Henry Cavills take on GW BOYCOTT
Is this realtime footage of Tibick falling in love? LOL
Aren't you glad now that Henry won your Smashing game? :D
I was there the day GW slew Warhammer 40k.
henry could be my daddy emperor (I´m a straight man)
Jimmy is condescending. Kudos to Henry, he reacted with the proper rationale. Answer a fool by his own folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.
Jimmy don't want to talk about his hobbies on TV that's for sure.
Are we not gonna talk about Kimmel's Man Show era?
Kimmel is not a boomer. He's not in his 60s.
A hobby is a hobby
At least its better than drinking, social media, and drugs.
Plastic crack is just a metaphor for pile of unpainted shame
You’d really like the video Cadia by the Templin Institute! My all time favorite 40K video
Where is H?
Gray Pile of Shame. Back when the figures were metal, it was Silver Soldiers...your unpainted pewter figures. Piles of armor. At least with the metal you could melt them down and recast them.
Kimmel is still angry that they kicked him out of the Handsome Men's Club XD
American culture...
watch Iron Within, its really cool
Kimmel is insufferable.
Should have had Vin Diesel and Joe Manganiello (not Warhammer but big D&D nerds) on the show as well :)
Of course Henry is part of the PC master race...
The hobbies of ‘a nerd’. So.. define a nerd…?
It all comes down to just disapprobation and approbation.. boo/ hooray…. Random stupid emotions .. pure human savagery.. we live in a dark dark world.
He's got fossil brain and can't wrap himself around someone being more liked than him but then performing a hobby he feels threatened by cause of his low iq.
