- www.paddockspar... Using tools in the timing pin kit PM029 supplied by Paddock Land Rover Parts and Accessories, we explore the use of the pump support tool. This video shows how to remove and refit the Bosch VE fuel Injection pump whilst leaving the timing belt undisturbed.
This video is for intermediate to advanced levels of mechanical skills however it also has content in for beginners to understand that the use of specialist tools is important.
This is an excellent instructional video, I watched it first years ago, searched for it and used it today to correctly fit a reconditioned fuel pump to my 300Tdi. Simple, straightforward guide that gives you all the necessary information to do the job correctly without mishaps.
great video mate. clear, short and concise. thank you
Great tutorial, thanks for posting. I've just removed the Injection pump from my 300tdi Disco and had the throttle spindle, bush and seals changed due to wear and leaking. The pump is definitely sprung away from TDC and as the 300 pump doesn't have the locking bolt like the 200 I found to accurately time with the pin a long ratchet on the pump nut was required. Also doing the job on my own it was a bit tricky to get the flywheel timing pin to locate as it's not sprung loaded, but in the timing kit was some other pins that were spring loaded so by carefully dismantling I was able to swap the spring. However gentle turning of the engine was required until the pin dropped in with a with a click, otherwise the pin will be wrecked.
Great kits and well worth buying 👍🏼
Heloo great vids. They are my go to when doing repairs.
Whats the symptoms of failing pump? I have a totally off beat tick rattle
Seems to get better when warm but still there in the background noise. Replaced all the usual lift, vac pump done gaps, same with a different set of injectors too. Lost
Good video nice and easy to follow thanks
Absolute gold for me today.
There is another video somewhere we did which is the 300tdi engine
Following your process with the tool kit... had it all timed up but it rotated slightly when I loosened the locking plate screws (at 3:25) so that the timing pin no longer slides all the way in. Do I need to get everything lined back up TDC before I proceed with threading in the bolts?
With my EDC automatic, #1 valve at TDC and the timing tool in the slot on the automatic's flywheel, the timing slot behind the access plate is 180 deg out from what is shown in the video, is this correct?
Good video, so I should be able to remove a pump on 300 tdi, using this tool and locking pin then once it's out the pump can sit there with no pins in? Just refit into another engine and time pump up using the pin ? Is it also possible to remove and replace without the bracket tool? 😁
the kit will help you do the whole job however if you are removing 2 pumps and wanting to swap them over simultaneously with one kit that would be a problem unless you have a spare pulley support tool.
i want to change the pump on my d1 300tdi but my spare pump was just removed from another engine so i don't think it was set or anything like that before removal.....does it need to be set to a specific setting or does it have to be in the same position as the older pump wheel?
