I feel like Konami fumbled bringing Speed Duels to the TCG just to have Rush Duels come out later. I'm sure Speed Duels existing are why Rush Duels haven't been brought over to the TCG yet.
yeah it was very clear that they wanted to capitalize on what they thought Yugi boomers would enjoy more. there was this real trepidation with bringing over a reboot, despite the TCG constantly clamoring for that. at this point KoA is just being stubborn. and all that's done is shoot them in the foot because at this point if they did bring over Rush to the West, a lot of the people that have been putting up with their bullshit and buying the products aren't going to play it. because why would you want to sit through Dragias format FOR A FOURTH TIME.
@@Xeroxthebeautifulit’s very clear that there is a drastic difference between Konami of Japan and Konami of America. Konami of America seems to either have near full autonomy from Japan, or the main division in Japan is extremely lax because Konami of America rakes in plenty of money/meets their quota every quarter so the higher ups at the company just don’t care.
It's because Konami TCG wants you to just collect the cards and not play the game associated with it. There is way more profit to earn through catering to collectors than to the players. How else do you explain a structure deck that was sold in the OCG getting turned into a "deck build" pack in the TCG?
It really sucks that Deck Build Packs are so bad in the TCG. I remember pulling them in the OCG. Aside from the fact that their prices are less than half that of a TCG box (~$25 USD, albeit OCG DBPs have 15 packs per box rather than TCG's 20), they do have some semblance of actually being able to pull something playable. I remember trying to build Labrynth but constantly pulling 1 or even 2 Runick Fountains instead of any Lovely, and while I did end up having to buy my copies of Lovely, it did feel nice to know that I basically had somewhat playable Runicks (and I suppose Vaylantz too) from just pulling 1 or 2 boxes. I didn't have any trouble pulling the Labrynth maids either, it was basically just missing Lovely and nothing else.
That May banlist was a PR disaster for Konami. I was at YCS Philly when it dropped and people were not happy. My one friend who’d been on Floo as long as I can remember just built Superheavy Samurai only for the deck to be killed on arrival. Most of it was low rarity but that extra deck was so damn expensive. He quit the game over that banlist, and I doubt he was the only brokenhearted duelist at that event. Obviously they had to do something about Superheavy Samurai but they should have either waited to release the list or lightly tapped the deck before CYAC released along with lowering the overall power level of the format to give the new stuff a chance to shine in a more healthy way.
My shs stuff hadn't even all arrived from tcgplayer when that list killed the deck. Best part is that the list even kills causal versions of the deck not doing generic extra deck bullshit cause of how important scarecrow is.
Yeah that list was maybe the worst thing for people who actually play physical tcg and bought a deck that was expected to be good for a decent amount of money. I don't fault people for quitting over that.
I bought everything too thankfully I already had the extra deck from previous decks but man the commons were hell to find finally got them built the deck went to locals twice boom banlist I was pretty upset as many were, they should've just hit soul piercer to 1 and it would've been a nice hit instead of out right killing shs
Oh sick, my MD festival tweet made it. For real though, MD has generally good festivals except those two. Even the ritual one was fun because of how stupid and funny Gishki is to play, but King of the Island/Fairy and Fiend festival were hell on earth.
I actually really enjoyed the king of the island one because I finally got to play inzektors, learn the cards and have actual games against decks. Fuck those birds tho
@@Blackopsspartn When I got to see stuff like Fire Kings or Inzektors, it was really fun (even if the former was hard as hell to beat, and I was using pure Lunalights!). But the second that damned bird came out or the roach was used, I wanted to eat my phone.
@@MonroahI was playing beetroopers in the King of the island event along with Lunalights and......Yosenju stun. I was playing Lab in the fiend event along with Abyss Actors and evil eye (Won most games against lab with them)
Side Sets (including Deck Build packs) absolutely need to have their ratios improved. Core sets have a very standard amount of rarities per box, and the easier to get Quarter Century chase cards have helped them feel nice to open casually. But all this year I have been interested in new archetypes and reprints from side sets only for them to have terrible ratios of pulls, some boxes having not even 3 ultra rares. Main offenders of 2023 have been Maze of Memories (not getting my hopes up for next year’s Maze set), the 3 deck build packs (AMDE, WISU, & VASM) and the Fire Legendary Duelists set. Amazing Defenders only aged well because the archetypes got good follow-up support, people weren’t wrong about how bad it was to open in the first few months of release.
The Fairy and Fiend festival in MD wasn't that bad... But I say that because I built a Fluffal Dark World deck that had a decent match up against Labrynth, and could go first or second. For the Beast, Beast Warrior, Winged Beast, Reptile and Insect, Lunalight was decent, but the best deck for me was a Danger Fabled deck with triple Danger! Zone, it was pretty cool. Festivals in MD are not perfect but they are the best the game offers at the moment, is pretty much the reason I play the game.
At least the Big and regular Welcome Labrynth have been banned from most of the Festivals since then. But yeah, the Festivals are kind of the entire reason I still play MD too.
7:11 Slightly related note, when Dark Savers first came out the only deck I wanted from it was Fur Hire. And with Striker being the popular choice I figured they would have made them harder to find but it took me 6 packs to pull a single Fur Hire card meanwhile I already pulled like 5 or 6 Striker cards
the worst part of deck building packs is that you get LESS CARDS to try and "deck build" with. Well give you 5 cards from three different strategies that cant be combined in any way. imo deck build packs should have mega pack amount of cards.
About the rarities in the deck build pack, I saw the price for Centurion and Valmonica here in Brazil. Centurion costs like the minimum wage (or more) that we have in the country and Valmonica costs less than half of this. It was the same thing to Vanquish Soul. You have to spend almost your entire salary to play the new deck, its an absurd this.
6:53 Me when I saw the rarity bumps for Valiant Smashers (I wanted to play the new archetypes, but I prefer to have food for the next month, thank you)
I heard of Centurion's playstyle and thought it would be fun. Then I checked the prices. $20 or so per copy of EACH card (for just the core) So I'm going broke just to play (at best) a tier 2 deck.
The fact that I bought an entire box of wild survivors, pretty much constructed dino and ritual deck, and yet pulled like 3 VS cards in the entire set still baffles me.
Anything duel links related is of course gonna cost you at the very least your entire life savings. That game is fcking horrendous. It's so baffling why people keep playing it. The money you spend there building one deck is equivalent to building 10 tier 1 decks in master duel
Im personally getting a bit tired of the current branded and dragon link meta we have in master duel. 90% of the last 50 games i played today have been “activate bystial lubellion”, and my eyes glazing over for the 15 minute combos ending on ridiculous end boards through interaction. I played into dlink, and through droll, ash, and nib, they proceeded to end on branded regain, dis pater, light dark chaos angel, seals, and druisworm + max c in hand
The hell? Branded is one of the worst matchups for VS, Branded can easily play around the bounce effects VS tried to do, we have floating effects and don't care about pops. Only thing VS has going for the matchup is non-engine, at that point then it's not really a VS strength now is it@@DrAiPatch
@@DrAiPatch i find with vs going second there is a little back and forth, but ultimatly it comes down to “do you have razen + fire + jaolong/burger”, as you desperatly need to resolve razen and jaulong to get going. However, if the person uses bystial lubellion to get the new trap that negates everything, its usually just game as vs cannot interact with it
I really miss the old Deckbuild packs like Dark Saviours with Supers and Secrets instead of that 3 URs in a Box with rares sprinkled in...i feel like everytime when a competent Engine or Deck releases there its almost alway unattainably pricy like Adventure, Punk, LiveTwin, Toons, Centurion, Purrely and R-ACE. Simply for godawful Ratios. Drytron s were also completly shafted cause they would actually get Reprinted...BUT NOT THE CARDS THAT MADE IT EXPENSIVE. We just got some rarity bumps for the 0,02€ cards. Come on Konami. Bring back old deckbuild set backs.
@@u.a.perfectace7786happy I am not the only one. Miss also some magistus reprints. Not because they are expensive but because no seller close to me has actually any.
I can't wait to see how Konami screws us with the next 2 sets in terms of rarities. I can' t justify the money for this hobby anymore. I'm better off buying a few packs to see what I get and then buying singles...but the good stuff like the Horus Engine is too damn expensive!
I'm tilting over to flat out quitting physical Yugioh (again) probably permanently too. The rarity spiking is so tiresome and to spend 400+ on an engine that will lose its value at any given moment, nah. I rather spend those 400 in my other hobbies. Getting really tired of Konami's shit.
What players are going through now is one that was similar around the time Zoo came out and was the big reason why I quit paper Yugioh for Pokemon and never looked back. Now with Pokemon being so cheap, it is even easier then when I got into it.
Oh yeah, Konami being super scummy with Rush Duels in Duel Links. You can still play and have fun without maxed out decks. I got DLv 100 in the GR festival after everyone who got it the first few days was done playing. It’s bizarre to me because Konami released a box with all the cards you would need for Lunalight, Bujin, and Firefist in Duel Links and it wasn’t hard to clear it 3 times even for F2P and Dolphins, but then you see some of the other stuff that just isn’t working out well. I didn’t get any of Roa’s level 6 UR drop for example and that put me at more of a disadvantage. It would be nice if they stopped with the crazy high price to play a format that is probably never going to be treated seriously in Duel Links if they continue like this. I put in a survey maybe they could release Rush duels in boxes like the speed duel product is released since I doubt players here are going to be like “oh boy, more sealed product” especially with how Konami likes to rarity bump stuff.
Hidden Arsenal Chapter 1 was one of my favourite products. It was super cheap to buy, even on pre-order, and DT Parallel foil rarities are my favourites. So me and a buddy played sealed with them (it was naturia with a little x-saber versus x-sabre with a little flamvell. Catastor won me everything baby.), and on top of that, the trishula die looks really cool (although the heads should have replaced the 3, not the one)
I have no clue what Konami was smoking with that set. It even came out right after all the "good" Ice Barrier cards got reprinted in the Structure Deck.
While I like how diverse the format is now, a significant amount of top deck around the mid-late year could and frequently did go for King Calamity Turbo, Centurion and Mannadium can still do it, even non meta decks like TG ( remember THAT deck got new stuff this year lol?) can set up a King Calamity on the opponent's turn and literally shut them off from anything but setting.
I still get blasted by Dark Magician decks in Duel Links. I also still rock Blue Eyes in many of my decks. And War Rocks. Mammud is my favorite target for summoming Odd-Eyes Advance Dragon, the very one that won me the match yesterday afternoon. I love doing that play when there is still another monster on the field so that I cam swing and return Mammud (or any other fun thing that qualifies! I love this card!) back to the field.
I still don't understand what are they thinking about rarity upgrade dump into 1 good archtype. It only gonna hurt the game and player in the long run. Ocg already show how to do it, why can't they just follow it.
The TCG only wants you to just collect the cards and not really play the game that is associated with it. Hence why we get more rarity bumbs in the TCG. In the OCG there is way more overlap between players and collectors so they need to cater to both equally over there. Don't forget the OCG is just the Japanese domestic market.
@@aaronabbey2604 I play in Thailand and OCG market extend to SEA too. We recently got Eng asia but that will take a while to integrate into ocg format but we mainly reference the price from Japan.
@@aaronabbey2604 they do it in the TCG because they can, and they hate you. If you want to vote with your wallet get Etsy proxies and just pass them off as real, encourage your friends to do the same.
I mean, I enjoyed the two monster-type festivals cause Plunder was legal in the first which dominated the Labrynth guys (except one who was playing IDP) and Yosenju absolutely tore through the other even with Kama 1 limited to 1. Now the link event on the other hand was absolutely ass.
I really like the CONCEPT of the Hidden Arsenal set. Having all the cards in one place in a way that let you build the deck from the set would be cool. Too bad that they decided to stick almost entirely to JUST the cards that appeared in Hidden Arsenal sets (barring a couple of archetypes like Ice Barrier, which got a bare minimum of outside stuff). Yes, Konami. We totally needed a reprint of Ally of Justice Rudra, a like literally 10 cent card nobody would ever use even in an Ally of Justice deck but not the cards that ended up as high-rarity booster pack cards like Ally of Justice Cyclone Creator or The Fabled Rubyruda that actually could use a reprint. (Even if their prices on the secondary market also aren't especially high either.) I don't mind reprinting the entire thing, but A) That should be the entire thing, including stuff that appeared outside Hidden Arsenal. and B) Should have included fewer archetypes so there was a realistic chance at pulling everything.) It's also hilarious how badly they planned the set. Remember how the set was announced to contain Jurracs and Worms?
YES!!! An easier way to play the game is the thing I have been begging the most for, but good God building a good deck on Duel Links was expensive. Legsndary failure in Konami's part. Rush Duel was still fire though.
Regarding deck build pack, konami tcg knows how shit the rarity structure is that they remove the deckbuild pack moniker in tcg. Ocg's product is just a lot better sadly.
Mbt puts a video up. Makes a typo in title. Comment section not talking about video but of the typo instead like if its a big event to mention it before it gets fixed. I enoy this community.
I have not played Duel Links, but I have heard of how insane the monetization is in that game and after playing MD since launch I can believe it. So I was super excited to see Rush Duels being in Duel Links, but I did not play because I knew that I would never be able to enjoy it decently without spending a lot of money.
On new player onboarding: It's the same problem fighting games have. The only way for your noob friend to engage with you and yugioh at the same time is to play you, and if you're experienced then they just don't want to do that.
In a way, the OCG being the ground zero for experimentation and the fact that VS was the meta deck for a while means they can bump the rarity which baffled me when Jiao Long is released on AGOV tcg (now VS fell off quite hard, the OCG is filled with R ace and Fire kings because FK is good alongside diabelle and populus)
4:52 1. That's the wrong nightingale on screen. Just an editing mistake but it's kind of funny because independant nightingale is basically never summoned in actual lyrilusc decks outside instant fusion 2. Assembled nightingale ruined around 4 different events at this point. Any event where lyrilusc is playable can be speedran easily because you just make a 6-7 mat nightingale going 2nd and otk through almost any board I'd know because I use lyrilusc in every event I can. It's just a really good speedrun deck for MD events 3. Literally no event matches how horrible flying C in the xyz festival 2 felt and I am sad that wasn't brought up in the post
Sad thing about deck buld packs: I opened 2 korean ones with the prank kids, which cost me 24€ and i was able du build all 3 decks thanks to the great rarity distribution. In TGC its horroble in comparison
people trashed it, but i think that if i had too much money YuGiOh cards made from precious metals would be something i could see myself investing in. "Oh this? this is my set of exodia made from 99.93% pure rose gold with dyed platinum filigree" call me a "mark" but i kind of dig it
My 2023 gripe is how Rush Duel opened up with a brick. The characters mostly get shitty cards and only go to LEVEL TWENTY, and the damn bots get some way better cards than we get access too (Counter Cannonball is a PRIME example). I like the flow of the game but what we get is for the most part underwhelming. It takes the combining of multiple ace monsters to really pop off, and the cards for tickets are all pointless, even the one they set to 1, and that's DUEL LINKS 1...
It's cost less than constellar, the difference is constellar ur all in the extra deck while vs in the main deck, the ur ratio is actually the same as 90% of the archetype in md.
7:00 literal capitalism meme: two rival comoanies that sell the same product should get in a competition about which can bring out the higher quality one. Instead they resort to make it as cheap as possible cutting down labor, watering it, and so on. They make what you actually want a minimal paet of the purchase, so you heve to buy more of it
It’s not that the dark magician platinum is expensive. It just looks so much worse than the recent Adidas, quarter century, and ghost. The ghost is expensive, but it actually seems somewhat deserving because it’s the best looking modern ghost. Adidas similarly just is cool and the quarter century is great for $10 looks amazing.
It's not a bad product but a bad release schedule. They should have released the 2 player starter deck a couple of weeks before the rarity collection. "Here, get this and learn how to play the game." "Now you've learned to play, here is a set with a load of the top cards you'll need."
I would love to shout out the fact that they announced a cross promotion between master duel and cross duel only AFTER cross duel got its EOS announcement. Actually 1Head level marketing. EDIT: WII U REFERENCE

yeah it was very clear that they wanted to capitalize on what they thought Yugi boomers would enjoy more. there was this real trepidation with bringing over a reboot, despite the TCG constantly clamoring for that.
at this point KoA is just being stubborn. and all that's done is shoot them in the foot because at this point if they did bring over Rush to the West, a lot of the people that have been putting up with their bullshit and buying the products aren't going to play it. because why would you want to sit through Dragias format FOR A FOURTH TIME.
Funnily enough, Konami annoumcedd the stainless steel Egyptian Gods on December 15th 2023 at 8 am (GMT -5).
It's because Konami TCG wants you to just collect the cards and not play the game associated with it. There is way more profit to earn through catering to collectors than to the players. How else do you explain a structure deck that was sold in the OCG getting turned into a "deck build" pack in the TCG?
On that labyrinth tweet the translation is “for some reason it looks like this overseas bro has flipped the freak out at me. I’m sorry.”
*June banlist (announced at the end of May)
My shs stuff hadn't even all arrived from tcgplayer when that list killed the deck.
Thanks God I didn't bother to buy SHS

@@Blackopsspartnddd, agents and labrynth are absolutely way above everything.
I see your Monster Type Festivals and raise you Day One of the 2023 XYZ Festival.
Fucking Retaliating "C"...
But yeah, the Festivals are kind of the entire reason I still play MD too.
did ok in that fest with counter fairy vs lab, but yeah the maxx C fest was awful.
I was interested in both cross duel and rush duel but I can't spend money on more than 1 "free to lose" game and Master Duel takes that slot for me.
the worst part of deck building packs is that you get LESS CARDS to try and "deck build" with. Well give you 5 cards from three different strategies that cant be combined in any way. imo deck build packs should have mega pack amount of cards.
Thank God bishbaalkin and coder are not both legal in the same format
Yeah Deck build sets were awfully price for rarities 😢 . Plus I’m glad The fake rock we thought were Adamancipators surport are bad now.
You are not ment to play the game in the TCG. Just collect the cards. That's what Konami wants.
I play it cause it has rush duels, I only just got my third SRM, atleast roa's deck a mini box
Can’t wait for MBT to talk about the stainless steel God cards that just got announced. 😂😂😂
Really? Branded can't seem to play through the basic VS set up. Does snow devil really dumpster them that hard?
However, if the person uses bystial lubellion to get the new trap that negates everything, its usually just game as vs cannot interact with it
Weird that you mention the demon/fairy event without mentioning that then we had the light vs dark event, so two whole events of Lab.
A moderately frequently occuring Dire W right at the end
Still waiting on thar Drytron Nova Reprint. Those other reprints were pointless because they were cheap already lol
@@u.a.perfectace7786happy I am not the only one. Miss also some magistus reprints. Not because they are expensive but because no seller close to me has actually any.

He be Enough and Enoying me until my Things are the Worst Yu-Gi-Oh had to offer in 2023
I can't wait to see how Konami screws us with the next 2 sets in terms of rarities.

Catastor won me everything baby.), and on top of that, the trishula die looks really cool (although the heads should have replaced the 3, not the one)
oh hey I made it in talking about hidden arsenal chapter 1! I completely forgot it was a 2022 product - I thought it released earlier this year lol
so bad its assness transcends 2022
I have no clue what Konami was smoking with that set. It even came out right after all the "good" Ice Barrier cards got reprinted in the Structure Deck.
The fact that you never showed us the results of the 2022 awards is a true crime.
Deck building packs, as ALL the boosters except RA01 in the TCG have the same problem : rarity scam
And just like that, konami has announce selling stainless steel egyptian god cards set, with much worse portraits
0:30 yeah about that.....
Imagine if Dire actually cut MBT off everytime he was mean to her, he would have no videos left in his channel.
Crazy, 8 months in and nothing changed
(Even if their prices on the secondary market also aren't especially high either.) I don't mind reprinting the entire thing, but A) That should be the entire thing, including stuff that appeared outside Hidden Arsenal. and B) Should have included fewer archetypes so there was a realistic chance at pulling everything.)
It's also hilarious how badly they planned the set. Remember how the set was announced to contain Jurracs and Worms?
YES!!! An easier way to play the game is the thing I have been begging the most for, but good God building a good deck on Duel Links was expensive. Legsndary failure in Konami's part. Rush Duel was still fire though.
I enoy people all the time. One of my last joys in the modern age
I see what you did there
Regarding deck build pack, konami tcg knows how shit the rarity structure is that they remove the deckbuild pack moniker in tcg. Ocg's product is just a lot better sadly.
So what I'm hearing is: Now is a GREAT time to get into Dark Magician
So hear me out: go into a local with 3-

I have not played Duel Links, but I have heard of how insane the monetization is in that game and after playing MD since launch I can believe it. So I was super excited to see Rush Duels being in Duel Links, but I did not play because I knew that I would never be able to enjoy it decently without spending a lot of money.
That intro is pure gold "I cut him off because he was mean to me" 🤣 Great cutting dire
Lmao he really said give us a 3rd platinum rare and they delivered

1. That's the wrong nightingale on screen. Just an editing mistake but it's kind of funny because independant nightingale is basically never summoned in actual lyrilusc decks outside instant fusion
2. Assembled nightingale ruined around 4 different events at this point. Any event where lyrilusc is playable can be speedran easily because you just make a 6-7 mat nightingale going 2nd and otk through almost any board
I'd know because I use lyrilusc in every event I can. It's just a really good speedrun deck for MD events
3. Literally no event matches how horrible flying C in the xyz festival 2 felt and I am sad that wasn't brought up in the post
So funny that you started with the Platinum Dark Magician, only for Konami to reveal Platinum Egyptian Gods TODAY!
0:07 Dire's reference, and MBT explodes
Sad thing about deck buld packs: I opened 2 korean ones with the prank kids, which cost me 24€ and i was able du build all 3 decks thanks to the great rarity distribution. In TGC its horroble in comparison
people trashed it, but i think that if i had too much money YuGiOh cards made from precious metals would be something i could see myself investing in. "Oh this? this is my set of exodia made from 99.93% pure rose gold with dyed platinum filigree"
call me a "mark" but i kind of dig it
Rarity Bumps in the tcg for sure. Why is Vanquish Soul so expensive ;-; . At least you can play it master duel but... it's master duel
I really like ur outro music any chance i can find a longer version?
I spent so much money on building Superheavy Samurais to only play it at one locals before scarecrow was banned that was rough
Wait, EXCUSE ME? They SEMI LIMITED SEAHORSE CARRIER? What the actual hell guys, aqua was my main deck
What's funny is that Vanquish Soul is just as hard to acquire in MD as it is in the TCG.
They make what you actually want a minimal paet of the purchase, so you heve to buy more of it
Toon Kingdom in Junior Journey. Only reason is January 2023 is a long time ago and the moment actually belongs on the best list
