I actually believe Sycra puts more effort into drawing badly than compared to when he's drawing normally. Kind of like Spongebob when he was trying to draw a circle.
Holy wow I literally just discovered this way of practicing for myself yesterday (at 2am, all hail the nighttime art spurts) Feels very encouraging to see this in a video, means I'm heading in the right direction.
Turns out I've been doing this wrong, such as just partially drawing construction lines on faces, not thinking about the back or how a construction wraps around. This was quite helpful!
I use to draw all the time without construction as you call it. Once I learned about construction part of a drawing, I thought it was unnecessary. Wasn't until years later I realized it was actually helpful, it made it easier for me to draw eyes symmetrical. Its nice to be able to draw both eyes instead of always covering one up. :3
I dont usually comment on your videos often but I just want to say that your series have been so helpful I have had to self teach myself many things because art classes/teachers explanations of things tend to go right over my head and i get to embarrassed to ask for more thorough explanations and your way of showing while explaining has helped me sooooo much with understanding even the most simple beginner tools that I could never grasp and I've recently begun to see myself grow and start to produce things I'm extremely proud of! so thank you for sharing your knowledge !
+syrup renee Do your teachers actually teach you something in art? My art teacher is just like, heres a painting of last year, try do something similar. And we don't even have it full year, just one semester D;
Hi Sycra! Personally I think this is one of your best tutorial vids, 'cause it's simple, clear and straight to the point regarding structure build. I use to firstly draw geometric shapes before I do the overall outline (or at least when I try to draw something more complex and professional), but sometimes I still struggle in how to solve some perspective issues... So I'll remember this lesson when I face the same problem again. Thanks for sharing! Have a good one!
Thank you! I've been doing pixel art for years and only recently I'm starting to stumble upon this concept and it has made a huge difference on my quality and how I work, reducing frustration and getting better looking results.
although i feel like most people already know how to do this, its a super important reminder for basic character construction and formation. thanks dude :)
Awesome stuff sycra! Do more speedpaints and digital painting tutorials, and also more comic book style drawings would be really nice. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for making a video geared towards beginners. I'll definitely try incorporate this into my drawing from now on. Please make more foundation videos when you can! ^^
Sycra ever the greatest teacher .. And should do children's books too not just anime cause the sketch with construction lines looks like a cool funny face that you'd see in a children's book
Hiii Sycra ! first off i just way say i love u lol and secondly it was so nice to see you draw in traditional pencil and paper! I loved watching your videos , they're always so informative and helpful;l ! Keep up all the great work. PS . Random comment , you have nice hands xD lol ok im done being weird lol
When I read about stuff like this in grade school, I didn't get it. I knew guys who could just BAM draw things freehand and it'd look perfect. I thought if I had to use "training wheels" to draw correctly, it meant I was a bad artist. Fortunately, I've grown out of that.
I straight up just got this video recommended after watching Sinix’s antI-construction video. It’s like my parents are fighting and I don’t know which side to pick 😭
@@playlistculture4890 This video is meant for newer artists and is very helpful. Sinix's Video is for artists that already have experience and shows that construction in drawing shouldn't be used if you don't actually need it.
i allready knew that but this video is still helping alot! When i draw a head and i want to look at the character from above to make her look cute i just couldnt get it right. Is there a way how to draw it easyer? [above and down]
Fetteremo He's done a video before on drawing heads in perspective and characters in perspective, and someone like Sinix does it all the time so you might learn something from watching his videos but there's no easy way to draw a character in perspective. Mainly because it implies that you know how to draw the form in any perspective; so with that said I'd recommend studying references in perspective.
i have a guestion.. when i wnna draw ellipses or straight lines that go this way "---" i want to move my head and body to the sidee because it easier to make the thing but then itsnot straight so i dont know what i should do. pls help :)
Hey, Sycra! So far I've enjoyed all of your content and I'm very grateful for the great lessons you're giving. But I'm quite concerned about your forums. As I try to log in it says "You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts". I doubt it because I'm trying it for the first time and constantly trying to join but it prevents me. Is it some kind of issue you're having right now?
What if I have been drawing for three to four years and now just getting to learning the fundamentals all over again. Because I can't stick to them for three years.
I've always been an understructor drawer.. but some people are really good without doing it.. some cartoonists. I watched the famous "artgerm" draw without understructor he is amazing but probably the years of experience he has he probably doesn't have to its probably all in his mind.
This is really hard for me because I have ambylopia, which means I literally can't see anything in 3D. It's just all flat for me, so when I see people draw circles to signify a shape, I just see two lines. No matter how hard I try I can't see a 3D shape. It really fucking sucks and I'm worried that I'll never be able to draw because of it.
I actually believe Sycra puts more effort into drawing badly than compared to when he's drawing normally. Kind of like Spongebob when he was trying to draw a circle.
Limelightmoon 5:05 :D
pecazp I'm pretty sure eventually he'll just start drawing with his feet haha
Limelightmoon Gohan: "Sorry, Krillin. I just can't seem to get my powerlevel as low as yours."
+Locutus Borg hahahahaha
+Locutus Borg My thoughts exactly.
This helped a ton! I've always known what construction is but I guess I've never really applied it to my art. It also helped with perspective a bit.
Also, I liked the tutorial on changing the opacity at 6:34. Always hard to remember when using this software!
I've been drawing without construction lines for as long as I can remember, but this video has made me realize it's an awesome technique. Great video!
Even for advanced users a good reminder. :)
You can always count on Sycra for great advice and techniques! :)
Nice Namine profile pic
AirRiderXD Official haha thanks! Glad to see a fellow. Kingdom Hearts can :)
kairinaminemix I'm a can too. I can't wait for the third... it seems it will never come :/
Jack Wheeler oh dude meant to say community. Haha. Just noticed now. Sorry!
lol. I make grammar mistakes all the time!
Holy wow I literally just discovered this way of practicing for myself yesterday (at 2am, all hail the nighttime art spurts)

Thanks for the tips! I've been training my "3D viewing" as of late and it's really fun to "see" the entire object. X-Rays for the win!

Thank you for doing this tutorial with traditional medium!!!

The precision and confidence in your line placement is admirable. I'm trying to reach that level someday.
Thank you! I've been doing pixel art for years and only recently I'm starting to stumble upon this concept and it has made a huge difference on my quality and how I work, reducing frustration and getting better looking results.
Wow I want to try this out
Dang the ellipses and center line helps out a lot.
although i feel like most people already know how to do this, its a super important reminder for basic character construction and formation. thanks dude :)
I tried this. The result was an eggplant with human facial features
No no no no, that's not supposed to exist. ERASE IT NOW

Woohoo new video! Thank you Sycra!!
I always use a pencil when watching your videos, so it was pretty awesome to see you doing that this time too :)
I really like this format perhaps you can create more videos like this.
Hiii Sycra ! first off i just way say i love u lol and secondly it was so nice to see you draw in traditional pencil and paper! I loved watching your videos , they're always so informative and helpful;l ! Keep up all the great work.

Thank you for this video, it may seem simple to some of you but I think it was really helpful :)
Sycra Love foundation videos like this. Please make more :)
Ooh, this is really helpful! Thanks!
Nice video Sycra! Please make speedsketches talking with the people or livestreams again. Thanks you! Bye
You'll always be my favorite

sycra im having big truble finding the depth construction lines (like you did in the pear) of the body in other postions that isnt facing you
i have a guestion.. when i wnna draw ellipses or straight lines that go this way "---" i want to move my head and body to the sidee because it easier to make the thing but then itsnot straight so i dont know what i should do. pls help :)
so what would be the next step after you finish constructing? erase all the leftover lines?
do more manual drawing! id like to see you draw without digital because im more used to pencil and pen.
Good to remember! Thankie!

Did I just watch someone make the perfect pear in about 1 minute?
Thank you:)
How to do other shapes ?

bro I typed "construction drawing" in youtube and this video doesn't appear, why?
is it bad if i can't draw without having my hand on the paper? I feel like it is not a good habit.
I think it's fine
