@@rajaryansingh7433 hey I hope you finished your drawing after 8 months. Really what you can do is squint and draw the rough shapes you see, then just squint less and less, adding more detail each time. After the basic shapes it takes practice. Sometimes I wish I had to learn because I get bored not having a challenge. Right now I am taking a break from my drawings and I am watching others for awhile. UA-cam is awesome for that. I have been able to draw since I was six years old. I started out drawing roses that I watched from the window of my childhood home. We had the couch underneath the living room window and I would set on the ledge of the window and watch the rose's and birds. My mom brought me art supplies for fun and I started drawing the rose's as if it was a photo even over the coloring books pictures. I covered the pages with my own drawings. My mom was very surprised but excited for me. She encouraged me to share my work with people, she also bought me better art supplies so I can do more. My teachers ended up encouraging me to submit my work to the fair and art galleries downtown when I was in first grade. I got rewards from the fair and the art galleries paid me to have my work displayed. When I was in junior highschool one of my art pieces was put in a local museum and was on display for years. I took pictures of my hometown for a art project and I draw the pictures and placed them on a board with information about the places I drew, I put the photos on the side of the board so everyone can see them. It told a historical story of my hometown. I also drew old photos of some of the houses I found pictures of at the library. I also learned more about my family history too because my family has connection's with my hometown. My grandpa and his family helped build the city we live in. I also am related to famous people who are artist and musician's as well scientists. My grandpa was interviewed by a movie director for the production of a movie for the dust bowl. Very good tutorial. Ive learned this from mere reason when i was a child, no one taught me. I also apply this to figure drawing. Start with basic shapes, then light details, full details then shade. This also applies to shading light and shadows. No matter how good the drawing/painting the end result will be, i love the beginning process of construction lines and shapes and perspective more.
I recently started to use this method and damn it has helped a lot, especially in traditional art. It's a good way to draw a character or object in a place you want it to be without accidentally making it for ex. too far away from the middle or you won't accidentally make it too big or too small
It's the foremost first thing to do in formal art too! Drawing shapes plus drawing your own hand from observation is fundamental. To improve on the method, try speed drawing. A minute, 30 seconds, 10 seconds, or 5 minutes, draw the general shape first. The longer the time, the more details you can add. Great for training your eye and proportion.
At the current moment i have some knowledge of the human body but i wanted to a gesture drawing but i can seem to put on paper struggling and it really discouraging me. Seeing this video helps a lot. Thank you for sharing this information ☺️

Hey Darlene!! This is an amazing tutorial and after watching this I'm pretty clear about drawing now....thank you!! I just had a question...at 7:23 the way you added the details and shading, particularly.....how do you do that? I'm a very confused about where to shade (darker or lighter) in a particular drawing to make it look more detailed....can u please help me with that ?? Please do reply to my comment
I can answer that question for you. Generally always shaded are wrinkles and areas where lines merge together. The rest of the shading is done by trying to understand the direction of the light source. Now, imagine you are a camera positioned where the light source is. Everything you don’t see will be shaded (shadows). If you’re a beginner in shading, there also a trick you can use. Break the drawing into simple volumes (cylinders, spheres, cubes etc). Light interacts with them in a simple way, and if you understand that, you can find the major regions of shadows
Hey there, you can also watch another of Darlene's videos. She has one where she teaches you about light and shading. Very helpful vid. I forgot the title but I'm sure you can look it up here on UA-cam. Hope that helps!
I needed this video. Yesterday, I was completely overwhelmed with starting to draw when I learned in college about breaking down shapes, though I get nervously excited when wanting to draw something to get my art to grow. As everything comes with a process, I stand by to at least try when it’s part of learning through. Subscribed!💯
Very useful for beginners! It makes you build a solid foundation in shape recognition to be able to understand how structure works. This helped me a lot, thank you so much! ❤️
What a fantastic topic for a video! Learning to draw using simple shapes is such a foundational skill in art. It's amazing how complex and beautiful drawings can start from basic shapes like circles, squares, and triangles. This approach really breaks down the intimidating parts of drawing into manageable steps, making art accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level. Plus, it's always fun to see how these simple shapes transform into intricate designs. Keep up the creative journey! 🎨✨

@@reychkid9351 thanks!
Woop 🖌️📐 Thanks!
You explain everything really well and very detailed. I want to learn how to draw and this makes it not as scary. 😊
Thank you very much! It was so helpful! 🤍
Muito boas essas dicas! Com certeza irá facilitar para quem está começando, ou até mesmo ajudar a aprimorar.
I am not much of a beginner but this is perfect for beginners it's so relaxing with no music 😌 and its really understandable too :D
This is the best tutorial I’ve ever learned and made it way easier to interpret and take in

Came here looking for a refresher on a principle I already knew, left with an even more useful reinterpretation of it. Bravo!

I think this is the video I needed 35 years ago. The method you've shown takes the mystery out of drawing, for me.
Thanks for sharing.
WOW...! Awesome tutorial... 😱 I love this lady 👍💙
Awesome! Super helpful. Love the idea of using magazines. Your teaching style was easy to understand . Thanks so much.
Thanks for helping me learn to look at shapes and understand a different way to draw.
A great teacher makes a great student. And you are a great teacher, opening the ceative mind. Thank you.
Darlene, you're an excellent artist and teacher as well.
This is literally the best art tutorial I've ever seen
Ever
This is a great video. I have to teach art to some primary school children soon and I will be definitely using this approach. Thanks a million for this video.
It's a really fun approach to drawing!
very good! I'm going to try this out next time. I'm going to combine this with my current technique to hopefully speed up my drawings.
Thanks for this useful tutorial, I'm just getting started and an in-depth tutorial would be great and much appreciated!
thank you so much. i’ve been looking everywhere for a video that explains things properly and luckily i found this wonderful video🎉
This is the most useful guide I could find on youtube, Thank you!
Thank you that is some good information
It's really difficult to think and teach something, that you know very well, from a beginners perspective. You are the best. 😍😍
This tutorial is really awesome. i want to draw pictures but i don't know how to draw. but this video helps me a lot and now i can draw. Thank you so much, madam. Great tutorial videos.

THX for giving me a glimpse into improving my Drawing abilities. Keep it UP
Amazing tutorial and you made it simple. I appreciate that. I am definitely going to implement the strategy you shared in my future drawings. Thank you.
Really great tutorial. Clear and easily understandable. Thank you.
as someone who have trouble identifying shapes to have a better drawing this helps a lot
Thanks love it very much
The thing that helps out the most for me at least is practicing with headshots with characters I like. I draw the heads using simple shapes, then fill in the details. Once you understand how shapes can be carved into details on the face you can have an easier time doing larger subjects.
The magazine idea is a great one! Going to do that now, thank you so much for this breakdown!
Just .... just no words to say I really wanted something like this maaaannnn. Mam I love you so much I'm following you for such a long time...plz upload a video on how to draw guidelines to sketch I person's face or a structure orrrr a furniture and everything plzzzz.....
Thanks. Now I see Shapes on Everything 🧐
I love how u gave us pictures to practice
I didn't even know Jazza did this! I do like finding these videos about finding shapes. The way I learned, they never told us about shapes, just look at the subject and draw. My other issue is that I am too analytical. I can't just say "Close enough" I always wanted 1:1, which is hard for me to get over.
This is the very first time I have been able to see shapes in things I want to draw! Thank you !!!
Great. At first I didn't even knowhow to draw a circle but thanks to u now I can sketch.
I usually draw portraits but I’d like to get better at figure drawings. You’ve given me a few ideas that I can use now.
Thank 🫵🏽
Wow, loved this - I'll be practicing this!
