Hello the crushing will depend on the wall thickness of the tube and the radius you are bending it on - not on whether the machine is powered or not. If the wall is thin and the radius is tight then you will need a mandrel inside the tube, there are manual mandrel benders and powered mandrel benders. A lot will depend on the strength of the machine, a tighter bend requires more strength to achieve. Also the tooling design plays a massive part, the inside of the pipe will shrink and the outside will stretch, controlling this shape change will allow you to achieve better results - without a mandrel we can create bends as tight as 2.5D depending on the wall thickness,

Why does manual pipe benders sometimes crush the pipe while automatic pipe benders never? Please clear my doubt. thanks.
